Simultaneous analysis of carbon and nitrogen isotope ratios by SIMS was applied for the first-time to a natural diamond from the Kelsey Lake kimberlite, State Line Distinct, Colorado (UWD-1). This in situ procedure is faster, reduces sample size for analysis, and measures both isotope ratios from a single ~ 10 μm diameter pit, a critical advantage for zoned diamonds. The carbon isotope ratio (expressed as δ13CVPDB) of the bulk UWD-1 crystal, determined by the conventional combustion method in the present study, is -5.9‰ ± 0.2‰ (VPDB, 2s). Nitrogen mass fraction ([N]) and isotope ratio (expressed as δ15NAir) were determined by stepwise combustion and gas-source mass-spectrometry, resulting in 553 ± 64 μg g-1 and -6.7‰ ± 1.1‰ (Air, 2s), respectively. Secondary ions of 12C2-, 12C13C-, 12C14N-, and 12C15N- were simultaneously measured by SIMS using three Faraday cups and one electron multiplier. The spot-to-spot reproducibility of δ13C and δ15N values for the UWD-1 (178 spots on sixteen chips, 10 μm spots), were 0.3‰ and 1.6‰, respectively (2s). While 12C14N-/12C2- ratios, which are an indicator for [N], varied up to 12% among these sixteen chips, such variation did not correlate with either δ13C or δ15N values. We propose that UWD-1 is a suitable reference sample for microscale in situ analysis of δ13C and δ15N values in diamond samples.  相似文献

Results of polarimetric observations of a high-albedo asteroid 64 Angelina obtained in the phase-angle range from 0.8° to 24.3° are presented. The observations were carried out in the period from September 28 to October 9, 2008, and on November 15, 2011, and September 18, 2012, with the 1.25-m and 2.6-m telescopes of the Crimean Astrophysical Observatory equipped with a five-color double-beam photopolarimeter and a single-channel photometer-polarimeter, respectively. Our observations confirm the polarimetric opposition effect in asteroid 64 Angelina at small phase angles and well agree with the other observations. The obtained results are discussed in terms of the currently available models of the light scattering by regolith surfaces.  相似文献

An interpretation is suggested for the rain type radio bursts on the basis of a pulsating regime of the stream instability. This regime may occur in ejected stabilized ion streams trapped in the region in which the magnetic field of the corona has a typical bipolar structure.  相似文献

The analysis of observational data has shown that the duration of a pulse train in type IV radio bursts decreases with increasing hardness of the spectrum of high-energy protons and increases with decreasing proton fluxes from the Sun. It is shown that such a correlation corresponds to a magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) model of pulsations and is inexplicacable within the framework of a nonlinear periodical regime of plasma instabilities. The pulse train duration is determined by proton pitch-angle diffusion caused by Alfvén waves in coronal magnetic loops. A method of predicting solar proton hardness and proton fluxes using type IV radio burst pulsations is proposed.  相似文献

Rare metal mineralization of oceanic carbonatites was studied for the first time by the example of calcite carbonatite from Fogo Island in the Cape Verde Archipelago. The following evolutionary sequence of rare metal minerals was established: zirconolite-Th-calciobetafite-betafite + Th-pyrochlore-thorite + Ti-Zr-Nb silicates + zircon.Schematic reactions were proposed for zirconolite transformation to secondary phases: (Ca,Th,U)Zr(Ti,Nb)2O7 (zirconolite) + SiO2 + Ca(F,OH)2 → ZrSiO4 (zircon) + (Ca,Th,U)2(Ti,Nb)2O6(OH,F) (Th-calciobetafite) and (Ca,Th,U)2(Ti,Nb)2O6(OH,F) + Na2Si2O5 → ThSiO4 (thorite) + (Ca,Na,Th)2(Nb,Ti)2O6(OH,F) (Th-pyrochlore), where SiO2, Ca(F,OH)2, and Na2Si2O5 are the components of melt-solution coexisting with the carbonatite.It was shown that the distribution and behavior of rare and radioactive elements in oceanic carbonatites show the same tendencies as in continental carbonatites. The contents and distribution of Ti, Ta, and Th in zirconolites and pyrochlores from oceanic and continental carbonatites are different: the minerals of oceanic carbonatites are enriched in Ti and Th and strongly depleted in Ta.  相似文献

The chemical properties and biological activities of soils were studied in the vicinity of the medieval settlement Podkumskoe-3 in the Kislovodsk basin (Northern Caucasus, Russia). Between the 5th and 8th centuries this area was ploughed regularly, but it was then abandoned up to the present day. It has been established that past human activity leads to soil undergoing significant transformations in terms of microbial communities and enzyme activity, and that such changes are maintained over long periods. Long-term manuring in the middle of the first millennium AD led to an increase in organic carbon content and the accumulation of nitrate nitrogen. Soils of ancient abandoned fields are associated with increases in microbial biomass, number of saprotrophic bacteria, urease activity, and fungal mycelium biomass. The observed changes in the microbiological and biochemical properties of soil were conditioned by secondary anthropogenically induced succession after the abandonment of arable lands.  相似文献

Ultracool stars usually have active regions, which is confirmed by their high-power radiofrequency emission modulated by the star axial rotation. The interpretation of this emission is commonly based on the electron cyclotron maser mechanism realized in the active regions. A plasma mechanism of radiofrequency emission is not considered, because ultracool star atmospheres are tightly “pressed” against the star surface, and the plasma frequency is much lower than the electron gyrofrequency (fL ? fB) at the coronal levels. This paper explores active regions of ultracool stars for the possible existence of a system of coronal magnetic loops carrying electric current generated by photospheric convection. It is shown that current dissipation induces a temperature increase inside the loops to about 107 K, which causes an increase in the scale of height of the inhomogeneous atmosphere and, at the coronal levels, effectuates condition fL ? fB, at which the plasma mechanism of radiofrequency emission prevails over the electron cyclotron maser mechanism. The magnetic loop parameters, intensity of electric currents generated by the photospheric convection, and efficiency of plasma heating inside the magnetic loops are evaluated on the example of the brown dwarf TVLM513-46546. The scale of the height of the modified atmosphere, which appears to be comparable to the star radius, is calculated; it is shown that the soft X-ray flow created by the hot modified atmosphere inside a coronal magnetic loop is about equal to that observed for brown dwarf TVLM513-46546.  相似文献

Carbonatites from the Oldoinyo Lengai volcano, northern Tanzania, are unstable under normal atmospheric conditions. Owing to carbonatite interaction with water, the major minerals—gregoryite Na2(CO3), nyerereite Na2Ca(CO3)2, and sylvite KCl—are dissolved and replaced with secondary low-temperature minerals: thermonatrite Na2(CO3) · H2O, trona Na3(CO3)(HCO3) · 2H2O, nahcolite Na(HCO3), pirssonite Na2Ca(CO3)2 · 2H2O, calcite Ca(CO3), and shortite Na2Ca2(CO3)3. Thermodynamic calculations show that the formation of secondary minerals in Oldoinyo Lengai carbonatites are controlled by the pH of the pore solution, H2O and CO2 fugacity, and the ratio of Ca and Na activity in the Na2O–CaO–CO2–H2O system.  相似文献
