In remote sensing the identification accuracy of mangroves is greatly influenced by terrestrial vegetation. This paper deals with the use of specific vegetation indices for extracting mangrove forests using Earth Observing-1 Hyperion image over a portion of Indian Sundarbans, followed by classification of mangroves into floristic composition classes. Five vegetation indices (three new and two published), namely Mangrove Probability Vegetation Index, Normalized Difference Wetland Vegetation Index, Shortwave Infrared Absorption Index, Normalized Difference Infrared Index and Atmospherically Corrected Vegetation Index were used in decision tree algorithm to develop the mangrove mask. Then, three full-pixel classifiers, namely Minimum Distance, Spectral Angle Mapper and Support Vector Machine (SVM) were evaluated on the data within the mask. SVM performed better than the other two classifiers with an overall precision of 99.08%. The methodology presented here may be applied in different mangrove areas for producing community zonation maps at finer levels. 相似文献

Karakoram Himalaya(KH) has continental climatic conditions and possesses largest concentration of glaciers outside the polar regions. The melt water from these glaciers is a major contributor to the Indus river. In this study, various methods have been used to estimate the ice volume in the Karakoram Range of glaciers such as Coregistration of Optically Sensed Images and Correlation(COSI-Corr) method and Area-Volume relations. Landsat 8 satellite data has been used to generate the ice displacement, velocity and thickness map. Our study for 558 Karakoram glaciers revealed that the average ice thickness in Karakoram is 90 m. Ground Penetrating Radar(GPR) survey has been conducted in one of the KH glacier i.e. Saser La glacier and the collected GPR data is used for the validation of satellite derived thickness map. GPR measured glacier thickness values are found comparable with satellite estimated values with RMSE of 4.3 m. The total ice volume of the Karakoram glaciers is estimated to be 1607±19 km3(1473±17 Gt), which is equivalent to 1473±17 km3 of water equivalent. Present study also covers the analysis of glacier surface displacement, velocity and ice thickness values with reference to glacier mean slope. 相似文献

In this study, the Glacier Lake Outburst Flood(GLOF) that occurred over Kedarnath in June 2013 was modeled using integrated observations from the field and Remote Sensing(RS). The lake breach parameters such as area, depth, breach, and height have been estimated from the field observations and Remote Sensing(RS) data. A number of modelling approaches, including Snow Melt Runoff Model(SRM), Modified Single Flow model(MSF), Watershed Management System(WMS), Simplified Dam Breach Model(SMPDBK) and BREACH were used to model the GLOF. Estimations from SRM produced a runoff of about 22.7 m3 during 16–17, June 2013 over Chorabari Lake. Bathymetry data reported that the lake got filled to its maximum capacity(3822.7 m3) due to excess discharge. Hydrograph obtained from the BREACH model revealed a peak discharge of about 1699 m3/s during an intense water flow episode that lasted for 10–15 minutes on 17 th June 2013. Excess discharge from heavy rainfall and snowmelt into the lake increased its hydrostatic pressure and the lake breached cataclysmically. 相似文献

An interannual study on zooplankton abundance, biomass, and species composition was carried out during different seasons in two local coastal water types off Gopalpur, north-western Bay of Bengal. Although, Type-1 was observed with higher zooplankton abundance in comparison to Type-2, pattern of variation followed similar seasonal trends in both water types during individual years. Well pronounced seasonality was observed in zooplankton distribution. Zooplankton community was composed of 217 holoplankton and 22 meroplankton. The holoplankton community was predominated by copepod in terms of species diversity and abundance followed by hydrozoa, tintinnida, malacostraca, gastropoda, chaetognatha and chordata. The meroplankton were represented by larval forms viz. bivalve veliger, brachyuran zoea larvae, caridean larvae, copepod nauplii, fish egg and gastropod veliger. Dominance of copepod species viz. Acrocalanus longicornis, Paracalanus aculeatus and Paracalanus parvus were observed frequently in both water types. The species richness was higher in Type-1 in comparison to Type-2 during both the years. Salinity regimes and availability of phytoplankton prey influenced the distribution and species composition of zooplankton assemblage. 相似文献

The uncertainty in assessing the numerous atmospheric pollutants transported via wind from arid and semi-arid regions is affecting the glacial ecosystem. In our study area due to the complexity of the system, a prominent seasonal difference noticed among major ions(Ca~(2+), Mg~(2+), SO_4~(2-), and NO_3~-). There is a need for understanding the ions cycling as a whole and the directionality of the feedback loops in the system. Therefore, we provide an appraisal of our current hypothesis for seasonal difference in major ion concentration from snow samples for two corresponding years(2013 and 2015) at Dokriani Glacier. A systematic study of chemical compositionsin the shallow snow pit from Dokriani Glacier was undertaken for the pre-monsoon season to understand the cycling of major ions from atmosphere to solute acquisition process. The intimating connections of ions cycling in snow and its temporal behavior was observed and analyzed through various statistical tests. Among major ions, the SO_4~(2-)has the highest concentration among anions on an average considered as 14.21% in 2013 and 29.46% in 2015. On the other side Ca~(2+) is the dominant cation contributing 28.22% in 2013 and 15.3% in 2015 on average. The average ratio of Na+/Cl-was higher in 2013 whereas lower in 2015. The backward trajectory analysis suggests the possible sources of the ions transported from Central Asia through the Western Disturbance(WD) as a prominent source of winter precipitation mainly in the Central Himalaya. Ionicconcentration of Ca~(2+) in cations was highly dominated while in anion SO_4~(2-)played the major role. Factor analysis and correlation matrix suggested that, the precipitation chemistry is mostly influenced by anthropogenic, crustal, and sea salt sources over the studied region. The elemental cycling through ocean, atmosphere and biosphere opens up new ways to understand the geochemical processes operating at the glacierized catchments of the Himalaya. Moreover, increasing the field-based studies in the coming decades would also have the certain advantage in overcoming the conceptual and computational geochemical modelling difficulties. 相似文献

The experimental results of time average velocity components measured around circular pier models during transient scour stage using acoustic Doppler velocimeter are shown for flow pattern and turbulence characteristics. Totally, four experiments were performed under clear water scour conditions in a model of gravel bed stream. Four circular pier models of diameter 6.6, 8.4, 11.5, and 13.5?cm were used for this study. Detailed controlled measurements on velocity components, and turbulence intensities near the pier and in scour hole at 0° and 180° plane are shown. Flow structure around a pier model in the presence of a scoured region was compared with the flow structure similarly noticed around all pier model runs by utilizing the observations taken at 0° and 180° plane from flow axis. Size of the primary vortex at 0° plane with largest diameter pier model in place (R4 run) is found to be maximum and was approximately 61% larger than that for smallest diameter pier model in place (R1 run). The time-averaged velocity components of turbulence intensities plots at 0° and 180° planes are also presented around each pier. 相似文献

Ethanimine (CH3CHNH) is an important prebiotic molecule since it is a precursor of amino acid \(\alpha \)-alanine in Strecker synthesis. Two isomers (E and Z) of ethanimine were detected in the molecular cloud Sagittarius B2 north during GBT-PRIMOS survey. A possible radical-molecule reaction pathway has been proposed for the formation of ethanimine in the interstellar medium (ISM) from some previously detected interstellar molecules like methylene (both triplet CH2 (3B1) and singlet CH2 (1A1)) and methyenimine (CH2NH). The mechanism has been studied in the gas phase and in water ice with the help of density functional theory at B2PLYPD/6-311++G (2d, p) level of theory. It is observed that E-ethanimine forms efficiently in gas phase but ice reactions are favorable only in the hot core of molecular clouds. Same is true for the formation of Z-ethanimine which forms only at the surface of water cluster as the height of entrance barrier for formation of Z-ethanimine is similar to that of E-ethanimine. Isomerization from E to Z form is also studied and found to be forbidden due to large entrance barrier. Out of the two reaction system CH2 (3B1) + CH2NH and CH2 (1A1) + CH2NH, later is more favorable then the former one due to the small entrance barrier. Still, much of the detected abundance of ethanimine comes from the reaction of CH2 (3B1) with CH2NH as since CH2 (1A1) has very low abundance compared to the CH2 (3B1) in ISM. The proposed pathway seems to be a promising candidate for the ethanimine formation in ISM. 相似文献

We present an analytical model to explore the magnetic field turbulent spectrum by coupled high-frequency kinetic Alfvén wave (KAW) and slow mode of Alfvén wave (AW). The spectrum is computed as a realization of energy cascades from larger to smaller scales for a specific case of solar wind plasma at 1 AU. A two-fluid technique is implemented for the derivation of model equations leading two wave modes. These coupled, nonlinear equations are solved numerically. The nonlinearity in the system arises due to nonlinear ponderomotive force, which is believed to be responsible for the wave localization and magnetic islands formation. The numerical results show that the magnetic islands grow with time and attain a quasi-steady state after the modulation instability is saturated. The magnetic field spectrum and associated spectral indices are computed near the time of saturation of instability. The simulated spectrum in dispersion region follows a power-law with an index of ?2.5. The steeper spectrum could be attributed as energy transfer from larger to smaller scales and helps to study turbulence in solar wind. The magnetic field spectrum and spectral index show a good agreement with the observation of solar wind turbulent spectra. 相似文献

The present study examines the ionospheric Total Electron Content (TEC) variations in the lower mid-latitude Turkish region from the Turkish permanent GNSS network (TPGN) and International GNSS Services (IGS) observations during the years 2009 to 2017. The corresponding vertical TEC (VTEC) predicted by Kriging and NeQuick-2 models are evaluated to realize their efficacy over the country. We studied the diurnal, seasonal and spatial pattern of VTEC variation and tried to estimate by a new mathematical model using the long term of 9 years VTEC data. The diurnal variation of VTEC demonstrates a normal trend with its gradual enhancement from dawn to attain a peak around 09:00–14.00 UT and reaching the minimum level after 22.00 UT. The seasonal behavior of VTEC indicates a strong semi-annual variation of VTEC with maxima in September equinox followed by March equinox and minima in June solstice followed by December solstice. Also, the spatial variation in VTEC depicts a meaningful longitudinal/latitudinal pattern altering with seasons. It decreases longitudinally from the west to the east during March equinox and June solstice increases with latitude. The comparative analysis among the GNSS-VTEC, Kriging, NeQuick and the proposed mathematical model are evaluated with the help one way ANOVA test. The analysis shows that the null hypothesis of the models during storm and quiet days are accepted and suggesting that all models are statistically significantly equivalent from each other. We believe the outcomes from this study would complement towards a relatively better understanding of the lower mid-latitude VTEC variation over the Turkish region and analogous latitudes over the globe. 相似文献

One of the popular models for the low/hard state of black hole binaries is that the standard accretion disk is truncated and the hot inner region produces, via Comptonization, hard X-ray flux.This is supported by the value of the high energy photon index, which is often found to be small,~ 1.7( 2), implying that the hot medium is starved of seed photons. On the other hand, the suggestive presence of a broad relativistic Fe line during the hard state would suggest that the accretion disk is not truncated but extends all the way to the innermost stable circular orbit. In such a case, it is a puzzle why the hot medium would remain photon starved. The broad Fe line should be accompanied by a broad smeared reflection hump at ~ 30 ke V and it may be that this additional component makes the spectrum hard and the intrinsic photon index is larger, i.e. 2. This would mean that the medium is not photon deficient, reconciling the presence of a broad Fe line in the observed hard state. To test this hypothesis,we have analyzed the RXTE observations of GX 339–4 from the four outbursts during 2002–2011 and identify observations when the system was in the hard state and showed a broad Fe line. We have then attempted to fit these observations with models, which include smeared reflection, to understand whether the intrinsic photon index can indeed be large. We find that, while for some observations the inclusion of reflection does increase the photon index, there are hard state observations with a broad Fe line that have photon indices less than 2. 相似文献
