The northeastern South China Sea continental margin holds the key to understanding Late Mesozoic tectonics and evaluating hydrocarbon potentials in Mesozoic tectonic and stratigraphic structures offshore southeast China. With newly obtained and processed seismic data, and new drilling and logging data, we correlate regional Mesozoic stratigraphy and analyze major Mesozoic tectonic events and structures. In particular, we focus our study on the three major tectonic units in the area, the Chaoshan Depression, the Tainan Basin, and the Dongsha–Penghu Uplift, which are separated by basement high, thrust fold, and (or) faults. Stratigraphic correlations suggest a major phase of southeastward regression, spanning in time from the late Early Jurassic (180 Ma) to the Early Cretaceous (120 Ma). Seismic data reveal two major tectonic events, with the first one in the Late Jurassic to the Early Cretaceous, contemporary with the regression, and the second one in the Late Cretaceous. Regional magnetic anomaly map after the reduction to the pole clearly reveals the boundary between the Dongsha–Penghu Uplift and the Chaoshan–Tainan depositional system. The seismic and magnetic data also suggest that, while the Dongsha–Penghu Uplift has highly magnetized sources buried mostly in the upper crust at depths from about 2 km to about 20 km, the Chaoshan–Tainan depositional system has thick Mesozoic sediments of low magnetization. 相似文献

运用扫描电镜与能谱分析,研究呼伦贝尔沙地末次冰盛期晚期以来全样风成沙的微区形态和粘土矿物成分。呼伦贝尔沙地的沙粒磨圆度较好,在扫描电镜观察下保存了水成沙粒的特征,意味着沙地物源曾经流水作用到达该区域。颗粒表面同时留有风力搬运的碟型坑等撞击痕迹,为干枯河床沙丘活化、风力搬运流动扩张的过程提供证据。末次冰盛期晚期风成沙颗粒大且表面光滑洁净,未见次生粘土矿物,反映出冰期地表无植被发育,区域沙漠活化、流动性加强。而全新世适宜期的褐色沙质土壤砂粒表面同时发育鳞片状自生粘土矿物和同沉积粘土颗粒及团块。能谱分析表明:全新世适宜期,风化自生粘土矿物有蒙脱石和伊利石,在相对温湿气候条件下,发育干旱碱性土壤,反映出冰后期植被发育、土壤化作用增强。 相似文献

In situ U–Pb dating and trace element analysis of zircons, combined with a textural relationship investigation in thin section, is a powerful tool to constrain the ultra high-pressure stage of high-grade metamorphism. Two types of zircon grains have been identified in thin sections of a retrograde eclogite from the main hole of the Chinese Continental Scientific Drill project in the Sulu UHP terrane. Type 1 zircon grains occur as inclusions in fresh garnet and omphacite, and Type 2 zircon grains were found in symplectite around omphacite. The fresh rims of Type 1 zircons and mantles of a few Type 2 zircons exhibit remarkably lower REE, Y, Nb and Ta contents than the inherited zircon cores, suggesting coeval growth with garnet, rutile and apatite during UHP metamorphism. These may have formed in the UHP metamorphism and survived retrograde metamorphism. The weighted average 206Pb/238U age of these zircon domains (230 ± 4 Ma, 2σ) agrees well with the published age of coesite-bearing zircon separates (230 ± 1 Ma, 2σ), suggesting that the peak UHP metamorphism in the Sulu terrane may have occurred at ~ 230 Ma.Zircon domains surrounded or cut across by symplectite could have been altered by retrograde metamorphism. Together, they provide a younger weighted average 206Pb/238U age of 209 ± 4 Ma (2σ). These retrograde zircon domains have similar REE compositions to the ~ 230 Ma UHP zircon domains. These observations imply that the ~ 209 Ma zircon domains could have formed by fluid activity-associated alterations in the amphibolite-facies metamorphism, which could have resulted in the complete loss of Pb but not REEs in these domains. 相似文献

The Zhongchuan district is an important component of the metallogenic belt in the Western Qinling. The Zhongchuan granite pluton occurring in the centre of the Zhongchuan metallogenic area has been poorly constrained, though the Triassic granite in Western Qinling has been well documented. In‐situ zircon U–Pb ages, Hf isotopic compositions and whole‐rock geochemical data are presented for host granite and mafic microgranular enclaves (MMES) from the Zhongchuan pluton, in order to constrain its sources, petrogenesis and tectonic setting of the pluton. The distribution of major, trace and rare earth elements apparently reflect exchange between the MMES and the host granitic rocks mainly due to interactions between coeval felsic host magma and mafic magma. The zircon U–Pb age of host granite (231.6 ± 1.5 to 235.8 ± 2.3 Ma) has overlapping uncertainty with that of the MMES (236.6 ± 1.3 Ma), establishing that the mafic and felsic magmas were coeval. The Hf isotopic composition of the MMES (εHf(t) = −13.4 to 4.0) is distinct from the host granite (εHf(t) = −15.7 to 0.0), indicating that both enriched subcontinental lithosphere mantle (SCLM) and crustal sources contributed to their origin. The zircons have two‐stage Hf model ages of 1064 to 1798 Ma for the host granite and 858 to 1747 Ma for the MMES. This suggests that the granitic pluton was likely derived from partial melting of a Late Mesoproterozoic crust, with subsequent interaction with the SCLM‐derived mafic magmas in tectonic affinity to the South China Block.
