Constitutive analysis of the mechanical anisotropy of Opalinus Clay   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
This paper aims to analyse the anisotropic features of behaviour of Opalinus Clay using the theory of plastic multi-mechanisms. The results of triaxial tests conducted with different load levels and directions showed that the mechanical behaviour of this shale is cross-anisotropic. The stiffer samples are those in which the loading direction is parallel to the bedding plane. This indicates that the preconsolidation stress depends on the orientation of the load with respect to the fabric of Opalinus Clay. It is proposed to interpret the observed cross-anisotropy with an elastoplastic model based on four plastic strain mechanisms that may be successively mobilised depending on the loading direction. The predicted stress–strain responses vary according to the directions of the space as a result of the hardening process, depending on the number of plastic strain mechanisms that have been mobilised. The numerical predictions show overall good agreement with the experimental data in terms of deviatoric stress versus axial strain, demonstrating that multi-mechanism plasticity is a suitable constitutive tool for the interpretation of the mechanical anisotropy of this shale.  相似文献

In order to understand the groundwater dynamics and to improve the management of water resources in the Federal District of Brazil, this research proposes a 3D groundwater flow model to represent the groundwater level and flow system. The selected test site was the Pipiripau catchment. The development of the model was based on available geological, hydrogeological, geomorphological, climatological and pedological data. Geological and hydrogeological data were used to generate the 3D groundwater flow model. The 3D mesh elements of the domain were generated through the Groundwater Modeling System software, based on the logs of the well materials. The numerical simulation of the finite element method was implemented in the framework of the scientific software OpenGeoSys. With the 3D mesh-appropriated boundary conditions, annual average infiltration data and hydrogeological parameters were incorporated. Afterwards, the steady-state model was calibrated by the PEST software using available data of the water level from wells. The results showed the distribution of the steady-state hydraulic heads in the model domain, where the highest values occurred in the east and west recharge areas and the lowest values were found in the southwest of the basin. The results of this study can be a used as initial condition for the transient groundwater flow simulation and to provide a scientific basis for water resource management.  相似文献

This paper deals with the spatial and seasonal recycling of organic matter in sediments of two temperate small estuaries (Elorn and Aulne, France). The spatio-temporal distribution of oxygen, nutrient and metal concentrations as well as the organic carbon and nitrogen contents in surficial sediments were determined and diffusive oxygen fluxes were calculated. In order to assess the source of organic carbon (OC) in the two estuaries, the isotopic composition of carbon (δ 13C) was also measured. The temporal variation of organic matter recycling was studied during four seasons in order to understand the driving forces of sediment mineralization and storage in these temperate estuaries. Low spatial variability of vertical profiles of oxygen, nutrient, and metal concentrations and diffusive oxygen fluxes were monitored at the station scale (within meters of the exact location) and cross-section scale. We observed diffusive oxygen fluxes around 15 mmol m?2 day?1 in the Elorn estuary and 10 mmol m?2 day?1 in the Aulne estuary. The outer (marine) stations of the two estuaries displayed similar diffusive O2 fluxes. Suboxic and anoxic mineralization was large in the sediments from the two estuaries as shown by the rapid removal of very high bottom water concentrations of NO x ? (>200 μM) and the large NH4 + increase at depth at all stations. OC contents and C/N ratios were high in upstream sediments (11–15 % d.w. and 4–6, respectively) and decreased downstream to values around 2 % d.w. and C/N ≤ 10. δ 13C values show that the organic matter has different origins in the two watersheds as exemplified by lower δ 13C values in the Aulne watershed. A high increase of δ 13C and C/N values was visible in the two estuaries from upstream to downstream indicating a progressive mixing of terrestrial with marine organic matter. The Elorn estuary is influenced by human activities in its watershed (urban area, animal farming) which suggest the input of labile organic matter, whereas the Aulne estuary displays larger river primary production which can be either mineralized in the water column or transferred to the lower estuary, thus leaving a lower mineralization in Aulne than Elorn estuary. This study highlights that (1) meter scale heterogeneity of benthic biogeochemical properties can be low in small and linear macrotidal estuaries, (2) two estuaries that are geographically close can show different pattern of organic matter origin and recycling related to human activities on watersheds, (3) small estuaries can have an important role in recycling and retention of organic matter.  相似文献

The impact of glaciation cycles on groundwater flow was studied within the framework of nuclear waste storage in underground geological formations. The eastern section of the Paris Basin (a layered aquifer with impervious/pervious alternations) in France was considered for the last 120 ka. Cold periods corresponded with arid climates. The issue of talik development below water bodies was addressed. These unfrozen zones can maintain open pathways for aquifer recharge. Transient thermal evolution was simulated on a small-scale generic unit of the landscape including a “river” and “plain”. Coupled thermo-hydraulic modeling and simplified conductive heat transfer were considered for a broad range of scenarios. The results showed that when considering the current limited river dimensions and purely conductive heat transfer, taliks are expected to close within a few centuries. However, including coupled advection for flows from the river to the plain (probably pertinent for the eastern Paris Basin aquifer recharge zones) strongly delays talik closure (millennium scale). The impact on regional underground flows is expected to vary from a complete stop of recharge to a reduced recharge, corresponding to the talik zones. Consequences for future modeling approaches of the Paris Basin are discussed.  相似文献

Résumé

L’établissement de la chronologie relative de systèmes de diaclases ou joints est difficile à établir, surtout si les conditions d’observation ne permettent pas d’analyser de très nombreux recoupements de joints. On peut toutefois situer dans le temps, grâce à une étude principalement géométrique, la formation de familles de joints affectant des structures flexurées d’âge connu.

Les flexures monoclinales, d’âge laramien, sont les structures les plus caractéristiques du Plateau du Colorado. Les multiples systèmes de joints qui les affectent ont pour orientations : N000° à N020°, NO40°, N080°-N090°, Ν110ο-Ν120°. N140°-N150° et Ν170°. L’étude des relations géométriques entre ces joints et les flexures, complétée par des analyses qualitatives d’intersection des joints et de rugosité de surface, permettent la classification suivante : 1) des joints anté-laramiens N080°-N090° puis N000° et Ν150°, 2) des joints N110° et N020° à N040 contemporains de la compression laramienne, 3) des joints post-laramiens Ν170° dus aux mécanismes extensifs Basin & Range.

A partir de cette étude, plusieurs idées plus générales sur la structuration des zones peu déformées sont proposées. La chronologie de la facturation ainsi définie peut également être appliquée aux zones tabulaires du Plateau du Colorado.  相似文献

A Madagascar, les morphologies karstiques et leur activité dépendent de l’interaction entre les facteurs climatiques, lithologi-ques et structuraux, en particulier de l’histoire tectonique récente à actuelle. Abstract

The South Iceland Seismic Zone (SISZ) is located at the junction of three rift segments in southwestern Iceland. The presence of different types of faulting and of differently orientated subgroups in Upper Pliocene to Holocene formations indicate polyphase tectonism. We measured 736 minor faults at 25 sites. Two types of relationships between stress regimes are represented. The first type, named IDS (inhomogeneous data set), is characterized by the presence of two types of fault mechanisms, normal and strike-slip, consistent with a single direction of extension. The second type, named OSR (opposite stress regimes), is characterized by the presence of perpendicular directions of extensions for a single type (normal or strike-slip) of faulting. Because of contradictory chronological criteria, we infer that the OSR alternated during the brittle tectonic activity of the SISZ. Two stress regimes, primary and secondary, are characterized by directions of extension NW-SE and NE-SW, respectively. The general fracture pattern characterized for the primary stress regime in the SISZ includes NNE-SSW trending right-lateral strike-slip faults, conjugate ENE-WSW trending left-lateral faults and NE-SW normal faults. This distribution is quite consistent with a Riedel- type model of fault pattern in a left-lateral shear zone. The stress states characterized based on analysis of both the earthquake focal mechanisms and the recent faulting sow great similarity in terms of stress directions. The main difference is the larger ratio of strike-slip motions representing 71% of the total population in the case of earthquake focal mechanisms, whereas for the whole set of faults the proportion of strike-slip faulting was 50 %. We explain that a témpora evolution of the tectonic regime in the SISZ region, accompanied by a gradual change in stress field, starts with rift-type pure extension and progressively leads to development of preferentially strike-slip structures in the kinematic context of left- lateral transform motion. © Elsevier, Paris  相似文献

Abstract

Six cavities have been discovered in the Oletta massif. The massif, today constitued of Schistes lustrés with several metres of calcareous layers above them, has undergone intense fracturing. The networks of cavities are organised along north-south and subequatorial directions, and form a narrow bayonnet-network. All the elements in the galleries appear to be karstic: stalagmites, stalactites and calcitic deposits along the walls; but no trace of dissolution or excavation was found. Thus, the origin of the galleries is only tectonic, while the calcitic deposits result from the dissolution of the old, thick calcareous layers above, which are no longer present. The thickness and the volume of the calcitic deposits, which is variable depending on the galleries, indicates the chronology of the different tectonic periods which have fractured the massif. Five tectonic and successsive events have been detected. Calcitic datings confirm the timing of successional fracturing, indicating also the variable age of the fossiliferous Middle Pleistocene deposits found in these cavities. © 1999 Éditions scientifiques et médicales Elsevier SAS  相似文献

Abstract

The Karakorum is located north of the India/Kohistan-Ladakh/Eurasia sutures. Along the Karambar valley, its axial batholith comprises four plutonic complexes. (1) The largest one represents the westerly continuation of the huge mid-Cretaceous calc-alkaline Hunza plutonic unit. This unit here displays a remarkable reverse zoning that would result from a differentiation at depth followed by multipulse intrusions. (2) A stock of subalkaline (i.e. intermediate between alkaline and calc-alkaline) granitoids (Warghut porphyritic granite). (3) A composite group of fine-grained granitoids. (4) The so-called Koz Sar alkaline complex (KSAC), a unique example of this composition of plutonism so far reported in the batholith. In addition, leucogranite dykes and rare alkaline mafic ones occur.

The KSAC is a heterogeneous and more or less deformed body, ca. 5 km wide and possibly 20 km long, comprising two coeval groups of rocks. (1) Medium- to coarse-grained rocks are the most representative members of the complex. They consist of metaluminous to slightly peralkaline monzonite, quartz monzonite, granite and leucogranite, with iron-rich mafic silicates and Fe-Ti oxide. These subsolvus granitoids define a strongly ferriferous alkaline series. Five monzonite and quartz monzonite samples yield an isochron Rb-Sr age of 88 ± 4 Ma (87Sr/86Sri = 0.70440 ± 7; MSWD = 1.7). (2) Fine-grained rocks (monzogabbro to quartz syenite) are compositionally comparable to the dark-coloured members of the preceding group.

The KSAC was emplaced into a post-collisional environment resulting from the accretion, maybe at least since Aptian times, of the Kohistan island arc to the Karakorum. Its alkaline character testifies to the development of extensional tectonics, a process compatible with an oblique collision and/or with the decrease, at the time of collision, of the convergence velocity between the two colliding terrenes. Available data suggest that this alkaline complex (1) is late-orogenic, (2) is genetically-related to the nearby subalkaline granitoids and originates from the same mantle-source with a small crustal contribution, and (3) represents the ultimate member of the mid-Cretaceous subduction-related plutonism emplaced into the Karakorum continental margin.  相似文献

Abstract

To the east of the Sea of Marmara, the North Anatolian fault (NAF) branches into two strands, namely the northern and the southern strands. The Adapazan pull-apart basin is located in the overlapping zone of the Dokurcun and the ?zmit-Adapazan segments of the northern strand. The combined temporal ranges of the arvicolids from the Karapürçek formation (the first unit of the basin fill), deposited in the primary morphology of the Adapazan pull-apart basin, cover the latest Villanyian (latest Pliocene) and the Biharian (Early Pleistocene) time interval. The De?irmendere fauna collected from the lowermost sediments of this formation suggests that the Adapazan pull-apart basin started to form in the latest Pliocene. This, in turn, suggests that the dextral movement along the northern strand of the NAF commenced during the latest Pliocene.
