Distinguishing Carbonate Reservoir Pore Facies with Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Measurements 总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
Characterization of carbonate rocks may involve identifying the important pore types which are present. In the past, this
task has required detailed petrographic analysis of many core samples. Here, we describe a method which uses nuclear magnetic
resonance (NMR) measurements to reduce the amount of petrographic analysis needed for porosity typing of carbonate reservoir
rocks.
For a rock sample which has been measured with NMR, our method decomposes the log(T2) spectrum into at most three Gaussian-shaped components and gives a set of nine parameters. Two characteristic quantities
having geological significance are extracted from the nine parameters. Values of the two quantities are compared with a reference
set, established from samples having both NMR and petrographic evaluations of porosity types. We use a Bayesian approach to
the classification of the dominant porosity type.
Tests of our method on 103 samples show a correct prediction in 60 to 90 percent of the samples. The lower success rate was
obtained for samples with five porosity types from three fields; the higher success rate obtained with samples with three
porosity types from one well. The use of geologically significant quantities extracted from the decomposition gives comparable
success rate to those obtained using a standard, non-geological approach such as canonical variates. 相似文献

Although stream length is a fundamental property of fluvially eroded landscapes, methods of obtaining this basic measure vary; therefore, data compiled from several sources are often not comparable. Not only are measurement methods inconsistent, but there is no standaid definition of stream length itself. Most measurements are taken directly from maps where accuracy may be questionable, and air photos have proven more reliable than topographic maps. Obtaining reliable stream-length data from published sources is perhaps the most perplexing problem of all. In investigations of stream length, therefore, it is imperative that data sources, measurement techniques, and methodology be clearly defined so that results may be studied in a meaningful context. 相似文献

The absolute X-ray flux from the whole disc of the sun in the wave length range 2 to 12 Å has been observed for a prolonged period by University of Iowa equipment on the earth-orbiting satellite Explorer 33 and the moon-orbiting satellite Explorer 35, both of the Goddard Space Flight Center of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration. The observations are continuing at the date of writing (July 1969). A comprehensive catalog of the flux F (2–12 Å) is being produced. The observational technique and the scheme of reducing data are described herein. Sample tabulations and plots are given. The use of untreated surface water for domestic purposes has resulted in the infection of some people by guinea worm and other water borne diseases in the Northern Region of Ghana. The aim of this study is to assess the current groundwater quantity and quality conditions in the 7,820 km2 Daka catchment and project the water demand in 2025. Results of groundwater analyses generally show good water quality for domestic use. Borehole analyses indicate that the catchment’s groundwater system can be characterized by a regolith aquifer underlain by a deeper fractured rock aquifer in some areas. The current per capita water demand is estimated at 40 l/day although 60 l/day is the desired amount, indicating that with the current population of 363,350, the projected water demand for the communities is 21,800 m3/day. With a projected population of 555,500 in 2025, an expected 33,300 m3/day of water is required. The estimated optimum potential groundwater available for use in the catchment is 154 × 106 m3/year (4.24 × 105 m3/day). However, the current total groundwater abstraction is only 8,876 m3/day or 2% of the optimum. In comparison, the projected total current and 2025 water demands are only 5 and 8%, respectively, of the optimum potential groundwater available for use in the catchment. In addition, only 1,780 m3/day (0.65 × 106 m3/year) or 0.06% of the average annual flow of 1,016 × 106 m3/year of the Daka River is treated for domestic use. These figures reveal that a significantly very large water resource potential exists for both surface and groundwater development in the Daka catchment. Atmospheric stability conditions in the atmospheric surface layer control the distance and direction of transport of air contaminants. Near confined animal facilities, transport processes significantly impact air quality as these sites typically act as point sources of dust and odor constituents; however, little information is available on atmospheric stability effects. This study was conducted to assess year-round temporal patterns of atmospheric stability at a swine production facility and an adjacent commercial corn field (CF) in the US Midwest. Two towers of 10 and 20?m heights for continuous micrometeorological measurements were deployed within a CF and between swine buildings (BSB), respectively. Each tower was equipped with an eddy-covariance system at 6.8?m height, infrared thermometers, and six cup anemometers with thermocouples installed at log-distributed heights. Overall results from gradient Richardson number and Monin?CObukhov (z/L) calculations revealed a greater prevalence of unstable conditions for BSB compared with CF. During the 13-month measurement period, unstable cases (z/L ranging from ?1 to ?0.01) occurred 1.4 times more frequently for BSB than CF (52 vs. 39%, respectively), while stable cases (0.011?C0.2) were 1.8 times more frequent for CF than BSB (24 vs. 14%, respectively). These patterns were partly associated with higher surface radiometric temperatures for BSB. Relatively greater diurnal heat capture at BSB (ground and roof surfaces) and a cooling effect in CF through active canopy transpiration during the daytime explain these z/L and radiometric temperature results. Prevalent diurnal atmospheric instability at BSB suggests enhanced ascendant vertical transport of air pollutants perhaps causing greater mixing/dilution with the atmospheric layer and/or their facilitated transport over greater distances when sorbed onto particles. This enhanced understanding of the spatio-temporal patterns of atmospheric stability can be subsequently applied in further studies for identifying effective odor mitigation strategies near commercial animal production facilities. 相似文献
