One or two gram aliquots of twelve reference materials with low platinum-group element (PGE) abundances (Ir concentrations ranging from 30 to 510 pg g-1) were analysed by isotope dilution ICP-MS using an on-line chromatographic matrix separation after acid digestion in a high pressure asher (HPA-S) to determine the concentrations of Ru, Pd, Re, Ir and Pt. Osmium concentrations were determined via ID-ICP-MS but as volatile OsO4, whereas Rh concentrations were calculated by comparing the peak areas of the chromatographic peak with that of a standard solution. Validation of the method was performed and the concepts of traceability and measurement uncertainty were applied to assure comparability. The reference materials BCR-2, BHVO-1, BHVO-2, BIR-1, DNC-1, EN026 10D-3, MAG-1, RGM-1, SCo-1, SDO-1, TDB-1 and W-2 were investigated to test for their usefulness for certification. The use of TDB-1 is highly recommended because it is homogeneous at the two gram level and many values based on several different analytical procedures have been published. It is recommended that our efforts should focus on the certification of this reference material to reduce the uncertainties of its currently certified values (Pd and Pt only) and to assign certified values to the other PGE and Re. It is necessary to have at least one well-characterised RM for validation of methods applied to the analysis of PGE and Re in low abundance samples, although the matrix of TDB-1 might not completely match those of many samples.  相似文献

Abstract   Pelitic schists from Qingshuigou in the Northern Qilian Mountains of China contain mainly glaucophane, garnet, white mica, clinozoisite, chlorite and piemontite. Isotopic age dating of these schists provides new constraints on the formation of the high-grade blueschists at Qingshuigou. White mica 40Ar/39Ar ages range from 442.1 to 447.5 Ma (total fusion age of single grain) and from 445.7 to 453.9 Ma (integrated age of white mica concentrates). These ages (442.1–453.9 Ma) represent the peak metamorphic ages or cooling ages of the blueschists during exhumation shortly after peak metamorphism. The 40Ar/39Ar dates in the present study are similar to ages previously reported for eclogites and blueschists in the area; this suggests that both the eclogites and pelitic sediments underwent high-grade metamorphism during the same subduction event. From this chronological evidence and the presence of well-developed Silurian remnant-sea flysch and Devonian molasse, it is concluded that the Northern Qilian Ocean had closed by the end of the Ordovician, and rapid orogenic uplift followed in the Devonian.  相似文献

Investigations of the ecological, atmospheric chemical, and climatic impacts of contemporary fires in tropical vegetation have received increasing attention during the last 10 years. Little is known, however, about the impacts of climate changes on tropical vegetation and wildland fires. This paper summarizes the main known interactions of fire, vegetation, and atmosphere. Examples of predictive models on the impacts of climate change on the boreal and temperate zones are given in order to highlight the possible impacts on the tropical forest and savanna biomes and to demonstrate parameters that need to be involved in this process. Response of tropical vegetation to fire is characterized by degradation towards xerophytic and pyrophytic plant communities dominated by grasses and fire-tolerant tree and bush invaders. The potential impacts of climate change on tropical fire regimes are investigated using a GISS GCM-based lightning and fire model and the Model for the Assessment of Greenhouse Gas-Induced Climate Change (MAGICC).  相似文献

Summary Crop residues have been an under-valued resource in many agricultural systems. This collection of papers presents a sampling of new research and applications of new knowledge to improve our understanding of crop residue properties and impacts. Development and implementation of improved crop residue management offers opportunities to manipulate hydrologic, radiative, and energy balance processes. I hope the readers of Theoretical and Applied Climatology will be stimulated with new ideas. Collectively our new ideas can advance understanding of crop residue management and help us achieve sustainability in agricultural systems.  相似文献

Summary Crop residues are managed under conservation tillage programs to leave as much as possible on the surface for minimization soil erosion and for improving water quality. Because current methods for measuring crop residue cover are tediuous and somewhat subjective, there is a need for new methods to measure residue cover that are rapid, accurate, and objective. We discuss the potential for discriminating crop residues from soils using reflectance and fluorescence techniques and examine experimentally the changes in wheat residue fluorescence during weathering. The fluorescence of crop residue was a board band phenomenon with emissions extending from 420 to 600 nm for excitation of 350–420 nm. Soils had low intensity broad band emissions over the 400–690 nm region for excitations of 300–600 nm. We found that the fluorescence intensities for the crop residues were much greater than the fluorescence of the soils, but as the crop residues decompose, their blue-green fluorescence intensities approach the fluorescence of the soils. We conclude that fluorescence techniques are less ambiguous and better suited for discriminating crop residues from soils than the reflectance methods. However, the potential problems, that must be addressed to implement the fluorescence technique, are (i) adequate excitation energy must be supplied to induce fluorescence and (ii) the fluorescence signal is small relative to normal, ambient sunlight. Nevertheless, if properly implemented, we believe that the fluorescence techniques can be used to quantify crop residue cover in the field.With 7 Figures  相似文献

Summary This contribution demonstrates, for the first time, the close genetic relationship of concordant tourmaline rocks (tourmalinites) to stratabound tungsten mineralization and their wide regional distribution within the polymetamorphic Austroalpine Crystalline Complex of the Eastern Alps. The occurrences investigated are located in parts of the Austroalpine Crystalline Complex consisting of metavolcanoclastic and metacalcareous sequences of probable Lower Paleozoic age. Tourmalinites composed of tourmaline, quartz, plagioclase, ± almandine-rich garnet, ± muscovite, ± biotite, and minor ilmenite, rutile, graphite,- ± pyrite and, rarely, scheelite are of pre- to synmetamorphic origin. Tourmalines from the tourmalinites have been identified as intermediate members of the dravite-schorl solid solution series with minor amounts of other tourmaline end members. They can be compared to tourmalines from massive sulphide and stratabound tungsten deposits. Tourmalines from pegmatoids, on the contrary, plot close to the schorl end member. Tourmalinites are interpreted as metamorphosed products of elastic sedimentary material which has reacted with boronrich solutions of probable exhalative-hydrothermal origin. These exhalative processes are genetically connected to the transport of B and W and to the formation of syngenetic/syndiagenetic tungsten mineralization. Metamorphic mobilization of these primary concentrations led, during the Variscan and the Alpine metamorphic events, to the formation of scheelite-bearing quartz-tourmaline-, quartz-plagioclase-tourmaline mobilizates and pegmatoids.
Turmalingesteine und schichtgebundene Scheelitvererzungen im polymetamorphen Kristallin der Ostalpen, österreich
Zusammenfassung Erstmals konnte auch in den Ostalpen die enge genetische Beziehung und weite Verbreitung schichtiger Turmalingesteine (Turmalinite) zu schichtgebundenen Wolframvererzungen gezeigt werden. Die bearbeiteten Vorkommen liegen in Teilen des polymetamorphen ostalpinen Kristallins, eingeschaltet in eine bunte metavulkanoklastisch-, metakarbonatisehe Abfolge, wahrscheinlich altpaläozoischen Alters. Turmalinite setzen sich mineralogisch aus Turmalin, Quarz, Plagioklas, t almandinreichem Granat, ±Muskowit, ± Biotit, untergeordnet Ilmenit, Rutil, Graphit, ± Pyrit und selten Scheelit zusammen und sind prä- bis synmetamorph gebildet worden. Die Turmaline aus den Turmaliniten sind als intermediäre Glieder der Dravit-Schörl-Mischkristallreihe mit untergeordneter Beteiligung anderer Turmalinendglieder bestimmt worden, sie sind in ihrem Mineralchemismus vergleichbar mit Turmalinen aus massiven Sulfid-, und schichtgebundenen Wolframlagerstätten. Turmalin aus Pegmatoiden steht hingegen dem Schörlendglied nahe. Die Turmalinite werden als metamorphe Produkte klastischer Sedimente, die mit borreichen Lösungen, wahrscheinlich exhalativ-hydrothermaler Herkunft, reagiert haben, gedeutet. Diese exhalativen Prozesse stehen mit der Zufuhr von Bor und Wolfram und der Bildung syngenetischer/syndiagenetischer Wolframverer zungen in enger Verbindung. Im Zuge der variszischen und alpinen Orogenesen wurdendiese Ausgangsgesteine mehreren Metamorphosen unterworfen, während der es zur Bildung von scheelitführenden Quarz-Turmalin-, Quarz-Plagioklas-Turmalin-Mobilisaten und Pegmatoiden kam.

In the South Portuguese Zone close associations of diorites, tonalites and trondhjemites occur north of the Pyrite Belt. The period of their emplacement is Pre-Carboniferous and not, as has generally been assumed, Variscanpostorogen. The trondhjemitic intrusive suite and the Lower Carboniferous spilite-keratophyre association are related through their comagmatic derivation. Both series share sodium dominance, low concentrations of large-ion lithophile elements, indicators of a water-rich original magma and a deficient scorification of the element potential, which was acummulated in the sulphide and manganese deposits of the Pyrite Belt through post-volcanic hydrothermal processes. The mineralogically and geochemically primitive composition of both plutomtes and vulcanites, their mode of eruption from acid to basic facies as well as their position in the orogenic process indicate that they represent products of a successively proceeding partial melting of subducting oceanic crust. The trondhjemitic intrusives are the initialites in the magmatic-orogenic development.
Zusammenfassung In der Südportugiesischen Zone treten nördlich des Pyritgürtels enge Vergesellschaftungen von Dioriten, Tonaliten und Trondhjemiten auf. Der Zeitraum ihrer Platznahme ist päkarbonisch und nicht, wie bisher allgemein angenommen, variszisch-postorogen. Die trondhjemitische Intrusivsequenz und die unterkarbonische Spilit-Keratophyr-Assoziation sind in weiten Bereichen durch komagmatische Herkunft verbunden. Gemeinsamkeiten beider Abfolgen sind ihre Na-Dominanz, die niedrigen Gehalte an gro\ionigen Elementen, die Anzeichen für ein wasserreiches Ausgangsmagma und die mangelhafte Verschlackung des Elementpotentials, das in den Sulfid- und Manganlagerstätten des Pyritgürtels während postvulkanischer, hydrothermaler Proze\e angereichert wurde. Die mineralogisch wie geochemisch primitive Zusammensetzung sowohl der Plutonite wie der Vulkanite, ihr Eruptionsmodus von saurer zu basischer Fazies sowie ihre Position im orogenen Ablauf deuten darauf hin, da\ sie die Produkte einer sukzessiv fortschreitenden Aufschmelzung subduzierender, ozeanischer Kruste darstellen. Die trondhjemitischen Intrusiva sind die Initialite innerhalb der magmatisch-orogenen Entwicklung.

Résumé Dans la zone sud du Portugal, il existe, au nord de la ceinture pyriteuse, des associations étroites de diorites, de tonalites et de trondhjémites. Leur mise en place date de la période pré-carbonifère et non, comme on l'avait généralement admis jusqu'à présent, de la période varisque post-orogénique. Le faisceau intrusif trondhjémitique et l'association spilite-kératophyre du Carbonifère inférieur sont liés par une origine comagmatique. Les points communs des deux successions sont leur dominante sodique, les faibles teneurs en éléments à gros ions, les indices d'un magma de départ aquifère et la scorification réduite du potentiel d'éléments qui, dans les gisements de sulfure et de manganèse de la ceinture pyriteuse a été enrichi par des processus post-volcaniques et hydrothermaux. La composition primitive, tant minéralogique que géochimique, de la plutonite comme de la vulcanite, leur mode d'éruption qui va du type acide au type basique, ainsi que leur position dans le processus orogénique indiquent qu'il s'agit de produits successifs de la fusion partielle d'une croûte océanique en voie de subduction. Les intrusions trondhjémitiques représentent le stade initial dans l'évolution orogéno-magmatique.

We have calculated the spectrum of Cyg X-1 under the assumption that the radiation orginates in a disk around a 11M black-hole. Supersonic turbulence prevails in the outer parts of the disk and electron-electron bremsstrahlung appears to be resonsible for the maintenance of the temperature at a level less than 1010 K near the inner edge of the disk. The theoretical spectrum gives the best fit with the observations if the Reynolds number is about 1200.  相似文献

This work reports on the evaluation of the electric field gradient (efg) in synthetic fayalite α-Fe2SiO4 using three different procedures: (1) experimental, with single-crystal Mössbauer spectroscopy (SCMBS) on the three principal sections of an α-Fe2SiO4 sample for several temperatures in the range 20?°C?≤?T?≤?300?°C; (2) semiquantitative, with the on-line calculation of the efg from three-dimensional difference electron densities, and (3) a fully quantitative method with cluster molecular orbital calculations based on the density functional theory. The experimental efg is in good agreement with our previously published low-temperature data as well as with the results obtained by the fully quantitative approach. In the latter case, large cluster sizes (up to 97 atoms) are necessary to obtain quantitative agreement with experiment. This is also considered as being responsible for the lack of correspondence with the semiquantitative efg on M1. Previously reported symmetry violations on the M2 site are also confirmed by our SCMBS measurements.  相似文献

A number of independent arguments indicate that the toroidal flux system responsible for the sunspot cycle is stored at the base of the convection zone in the form of flux tubes with field strength close to 105 G. Although the evidence for such strong fields is quite compelling, how such field strength can be reached is still a topic of debate. Flux expulsion by convection should lead to about the equipartition field strength, but the magnetic energy density of a 105-G field is two orders of magnitude larger than the mean kinetic energy density of convective motions. Line stretching by differential rotation (i.e., the “Ω effect” in the classical mean-field dynamo approach) probably plays an important role, but arguments based on energy considerations show that it does not seem feasible that a 105-G field can be produced in this way. An alternative scenario for the intensification of the toroidal flux system in the overshoot layer is related to the explosion of rising, buoyantly unstable magnetic flux tubes, which opens a complementary mechanism for magnetic-field intensification. A parallelism is pointed out with the mechanism of “convective collapse” for the intensification of photospheric magnetic flux tubes up to field strengths well above equipartition; both mechanisms, which are fundamentally thermal processes, are reviewed.  相似文献
