A model of Holocene evolution for the coastal zone is discussed using the example of the geological-geomorphological structure of the Vistula spit. The conclusion is drawn that there is a significant role played by the aeolian factor in the formation of the studied area. The entire spit, excluding beaches, the near-gulf terrace, and several remnants of the ancient deltaic plain, is mostly composed by aeolian sands. One of these remnants is found in the near-gulf part of the spit near Cape Vysokii.  相似文献

The distribution of galaxies in the pencil-beam surveys of Broadhurstet al. which proved periodical across 8–10 consecutive steps in a flat dust model withq 0=0.5 is found to reveal extended periodicity up to 16–17 phase-coherent steps, covering the total sample, in a flat, moderately inflationary model withq 0=–0.5 (vacuum/dust ratio 2/1). In the latter model the vacuum component helps to reach the critical density and lengthens the expansion time-scale. It is shown that the explanation of the found periodicity as a consequence of space compactification as suggested by G. Paál twenty years ago in connection with apparent quasar periodicities is still possible.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

A geochemical approach using stable oxygen isotopes was used to understand streamflow generation processes in the highly peaty catchment of the Rokytka Brook in the headwaters of the Vltava River, Czech Republic. The contribution of water from peat bog areas to the total surface runoff was assessed using a hydrological time series, as well as geochemical, hydrochemical and isotope-hydrological approaches for unit hydrogram separation by means of anion deficiency. Using data from the hydrological year 2008, the role of an existing peat bog in the runoff formation dynamics of the Rokytka Brook catchment was determined, and the hydrological cycle was described and assessed using stable 18O/16O isotopes. The research findings strongly support the fact that peatland areas within the studied catchment do not significantly communicate hydraulically with surface streams, and their hydrological function in this region is insignificant.

Abstract– We report an analysis of the first instrumentally observed meteorite fall in Australia, which was recorded photographically and photoelectrically by two eastern stations of the Desert Fireball Network (DFN) on July 20, 2007. The meteoroid with an initial mass of 22 kg entered the atmosphere with a low speed of 13.36 km s?1 and began a luminous trajectory at an altitude of 62.83 km. In maximum, it reached ?9.6 absolute magnitude and terminated after a 5.7 s and 64.7 km long flight at an altitude of 29.59 km with a speed of 5.8 km s?1. The angle of the atmospheric trajectory to the Earth’s surface was 30.9°. The first organized search took place in October 2008 and the first meteorite (150 g) was found 97 m southward from the predicted central line at the end of the first day of searching (October 3, 2008). The second stone (174 g) was recovered 39 m northward from the central line, both exactly in the predicted mass limits. During the second expedition in February 2009, a third fragment of 14.9 g was found again very close (~100 m) from the predicted position. Total recovered mass is 339 g. The meteorite was designated Bunburra Rockhole (BR) after a nearby landscape structure. This first DFN sample is an igneous achondrite. Initial petrography indicated that BR was a brecciated eucrite but detailed analyses proved that BR is not a typical eucrite, but an anomalous basaltic meteorite ( Bland et al. 2009 ). BR was delivered from an unusual, Aten type orbit (a < 1 AU) where virtually the entire orbit was contained within Earth’s orbit. BR is the first achondrite fall with a known orbit and it is one of the most precise orbits ever calculated for a meteorite dropping fireball.  相似文献

Variations of the trophic status of lakes Batorino, Myastro, and Naroch were analyzed over a long period of 1978–2013. The lakes form a system of interconnected water bodies with a wide range of trophic states. In the period under consideration, the trophic conditions in the lakes varied from highly eutrophic (Lake Batorino) to oligotrophic (Lake Naroch), making it possible to analyze the long-term changes in the trophic state of the lakes with the use of different variants of evaluating the Carlson index (trophic state index, TSI), to assess the relationship between the three versions of the index with one another, with phytoplankton biomass, and with hydroecological characteristics, such as the concentrations of total N, seston, and organic matter and biochemical oxygen demand. The possibility to evaluate the index by other characteristics, including phytoplankton biomass, was also considered.  相似文献

We consider the restricted circular three-body problem in which the main bodies have variable masses but the sum of their masses always remains constant. For this problem, we have obtained the possible regions of motions of the small body and the previously unknown surfaces of minimum energy that bound them using the Jacobi quasi-integral. For constant masses, these surfaces transform into the well-known surfaces of zero velocity. We consider the applications of our results to close binary star systems with conservative mass transfer.  相似文献

The original coronal index of the solar activity (CI) has been constructed on the basis of ground-based measurements of the intensities of the coronal line of 530.3 nm (Rybanský in Bull. Astron. Inst. Czechoslov., 28, 367, 1975; Rybanský et al. in J. Geophys. Res., 110, A08106, 2005). In this paper, CI is compared with the EUV measurements on the CELIAS/SEM equipment based on the same idea as the original idea of the coronal index. The correlation is very good for the period 1996?–?2005 (r=0.94 for daily values). The principal result of this paper is the introduction of the modified coronal index (MCI) which in all uses and contexts can replace the existing CI index. Daily MCI values extend over a time period of six solar activity cycles. Future MCI measurements will be derived from more reliable measurements made by space-based observatories that are not influenced by the weather. The impact of erosion control geotextiles on the surface runoff from slopes is quite variable and depends strongly on site-specific conditions (soil characteristics, slope morphology, climate, etc.), as has been shown in several earlier studies. In addition, little is known about the proportion of runoff reduction that is caused by the geotextile and the proportion that is caused by soil characteristics. To shed more light on this issue, an experiment was carried out to test the impact of 500 g m?2 jute nets (J500) and 400 g m?2; 700 g m?2 coir nets (C400, C700) on the surface runoff from simulated rainfall of four different intensities (I 1 = 18.7; I 2 = 27.2; I 3 = 53.6; I 4 = 90.5 mm h?1). Data on runoff volume, peak discharge and time to peak discharge were collected from 40 simulated rainfall events. An impermeable “no-soil” subgrade was used to examine the impact of the geotextile on runoff without any influence of soil. All tested geotextiles significantly reduced runoff (volume, peak discharge) at all rainfall intensities, with the exception of C400 and C700 during simulated rainfall intensity I 4. J500 seemed to have the most effective runoff reduction performance at all rainfall intensities. In general, as the rainfall intensity increased, the effectiveness of the geotextiles decreased. Interesting behaviour was observed for J500 under simulated rainfall intensity I 4—the effectiveness of the geotextile increased with the duration of the rainfall.  相似文献

We established a criterion for the Hill stability of motions in the problem of many spherical bodies with a spherical density distribution. The region of Hill stability was determined. The sizes of this region are comparable to the total volume of all of the bodies in the system, which sharply increases the probability of mutual collisions. This result may be considered as a confirmation that a supermassive core can be formed at the center of a globular star cluster. The motions in the n-body problem are shown to be unstable according to Hill.  相似文献
