Single-frequency single-site VTEC retrieval using the NeQuick2 ray tracer for obliquity factor determination 总被引:1,自引:1,他引:0
A single-frequency single-site GPS/Galileo algorithm for retrieval of absolute total electron content is implemented. A single-layer approximation of the ionosphere is used for data modeling. In addition to a standard mapping function, the NeQuick model (version 2) of the ionosphere is now applied to derive improved mapping functions. This model is very attractive for this purpose, because it implements a ray tracer. We compare the new algorithm with the old one using an effective global height of the ionosphere of 450 km. Combined IGS IONEX gridded data sets serve as reference data. On global average, we find a small improvement of 1 % in precision (standard deviation) of the NeQuick2 mapping method versus the conventional approach on global average. A site-by-site comparison indicates an improvement in the precision for 34 % of the 44 sites under investigation. The level of improvement for these stations is 0.5 TECU on average. No improvement was observed for 41 % of the sites. Further comparisons of the single (code ranges and carrier phases) versus dual-frequency (carrier phases only) single site algorithm show that dual-frequency VTEC estimation is more accurate for the majority of the stations, but only in the range of 0.3 TECU (2.6 %) in average. 相似文献

Three-dimensional finite-element modelling of magnetotelluric data with a divergence correction 总被引:4,自引:0,他引:4
A finite-element method for computing the electric field in a 3-D conductivity model of the Earth for plane wave sources, thus enabling magnetotelluric responses to be calculated, is presented. The method incorporates in the iterative solution of the electric-field system of equations the divergence correction technique introduced for finite-difference solutions by Smith (1996). The correction technique accelerates the development of the discontinuity of the normal component of the approximate electric field across conductivity discontinuities. The convergence rate of the iterative solution is improved significantly, especially for low frequencies. The correction technique involves computing the divergence of the current density for the approximate electric field, computing the static potential whose source is this divergence of the current density, and ‘correcting’ the approximate electric field by subtracting from it the gradient of the potential. This is repeated at regular intervals during the iterative solution of the electric-field system of equations. For the method presented here, the Earth model is discretised using a rectilinear mesh comprising uniform cells. Edge-element basis functions are used to approximate the electric field and nodal basis functions are used to approximate the correction potential. The Galerkin method is used to derive the systems of equations for the approximate electric field and correction potential from the respective differential equations. A bi-conjugate gradient solver was found to be adequate for the system of equations for the correction potential; a generalised minimum residual solver was found to be better for the electric-field system of equations. This article reports major results from collaborative research between France and Brazil on soil and water systems, carried out in the Upper Amazon Basin. It reveals the weathering processes acting in the partly inundated, low elevation plateaus of the Basin, mostly covered by evergreen forest. Our findings are based on geochemical data and mineral spectroscopy that probe the crystal chemistry of Fe and Al in mineral phases (mainly kaolinite, Al- and Fe-(hydr)oxides) of tropical soils (laterites). These techniques reveal crystal alterations in mineral populations of different ages and changes of metal speciation associated with mineral or organic phases. These results provide an integrated model of soil formation and changes (from laterites to podzols) in distinct hydrological compartments of the Amazon landscapes and under altered water regimes. 相似文献

LA-ICP-MS U-Pb analyses performed on zircon grains from the Lizio granite yielded an emplacement age of 316 ± 6 Ma. Typical S-C structures show that the Lizio granite was emplaced contemporaneously with dextral shearing along the northern branch of the South Armorican Shear Zone and that it was therefore active at that time. 40Ar/39Ar analyses performed on muscovite grains yielded plateau dates ranging between 311.5 and 308.2 Ma. Muscovite chemistry is typical of primary magmatic muscovite, which precludes a late fluids-induced resetting of the K-Ar isotopic system. 40Ar/39Ar dates thus likely correspond to the cooling ages below the argon closure temperature. Considering the uncertainties on the measured ages, we can propose that either the Lizio granite cooled down quickly in less than a million of years or that it remained in a hot environment for several millions of years after its emplacement. This latter scenario could have been sustained by shear heating during dextral shearing along the northern branch of the South Armorican Shear Zone. 相似文献

Metamorphic basement rocks, that are exposed beneath the very low-grade to unmetamorphosed Upper Jurassic-Eocene formations
north of the Torud fault zone within the Great Kavir Block, were investigated to elucidate the origin of their protoliths
and the pressure and temperature conditions of metamorphism. The basement, previously assumed as a pre-Cambrian metamorphic
complex, is mostly formed by amphibolite-facies orthogneisses (tonalite, granodiorite, and granite) with amphibolites and
small amounts of metasediment-micaschists. Major- and trace-element geochemistry in combination with U–Pb age dating of zircon
showed that the protoliths formed during Late Neoproterozoic continental arc magmatism that has also been identified in other
tectonic blocks of Central Iran. In addition to quartz, feldspar(s), micas in orthogneisses, and amphibole + plagioclase in
amphibolite, all rocks may contain garnet that shows prograde zoning. Kyanite was found only in some Al-rich amphibolite together
with gedrite. The PT conditions of the rocks, based on conventional geothermobarometry and the pseudosection method, show
a medium-pressure amphibolite-facies metamorphism. Ar–Ar age dating of muscovite reveals that this metamorphism occurred in
the Middle Jurassic (166 Ma) and related to the closure of the Neotethyan basin. 相似文献

The outcome from the December 2012 climate negotiations in Doha has clarified the rules regarding surplus units for the Kyoto Protocol. We summarize these new rules and estimate the resulting effective emissions during the second commitment period using our unit trade model. Other options to deal with surplus emission allowances are employed as benchmarks to assess the Doha outcome. The effective emissions for developed countries as a group under the Doha outcome could be 10–11 % below 1990 levels or 4–5 % points below business-as-usual levels for the second commitment period if we assume that non-Kyoto Protocol countries domestically achieve their targets. However, if mechanisms exist where non-Kyoto Protocol countries can trade units, their emissions could increase and effective emissions for developed countries could be 7–8 % below 1990 levels. In this low-ambition situation we find the main impact of the Doha surplus rules to be the introduction of the historical cap on emissions allowances. Without the effect of the cap, the Doha outcome allows the Parties to the second commitment period to emit at business-as-usual levels until 2020, while still leaving surplus units at the end of the second commitment period. 相似文献

Fossil diatoms from lake sediments have been used to infer both past trophic state and climate conditions. In Europe, climate
reconstructions focused on northern and alpine regions because these areas are climatically sensitive and anthropogenic impact
was low. In contrast, anthropogenic impact was often high in the central European lowlands, such as northern Germany, beginning
in the Neolithic Age, ~3700 BC. Since that time, trophic state change was the main factor that affected diatom assemblages
in central European lowland lakes. Therefore, it was considered difficult or impossible to identify climate changes in the
region using sedimented diatoms. We used diatom assemblage changes, diatom-inferred total phosphorus concentrations and the
relative abundance of planktonic diatoms from sediments of three lakes that differ in their location, size, morphology, catchment
area and current trophic state to test whether we could distinguish between trophic state and climate signals over the past
5,000 years in northern Germany. In this study, changes in trophic state and climate were well differentiated. In the study
lakes, relative abundance of planktonic diatoms seems to be linked to the length of lake mixing phases. Planktonic diatom
abundance decreased during years with shorter mixing duration, and these shorter mixing times probably reflect colder winters.
The diatom-inferred periods of short mixing phases from 1000 BC to AD 500 and from AD 1300 to 1800 coincide well with two
known cooling phases in Europe and the North Atlantic region. 相似文献

We characterize the seismic response of Lake Vostok, an Antarctic subglacial lake located at nearly 4 km depth below the ice sheet. This study is relevant for the determination of the location and morphology of subglacial lakes. The characterization requires the design of a methodology based on rock physics and numerical modelling of wave propagation. The methodology involves rock-physics models of the shallow layer (firn), the ice sheet and the lake sediments, numerical simulation of synthetic seismograms, ray tracing, τ–p transforms, and AVA analysis, based on the theoretical reflection coefficients. The modelled reflection seismograms show a set of straight events (refractions through the firn and top-ice layer) and the two reflection events associated with the top and bottom of the lake. Theoretical AVA analysis of these reflections indicates that, at near offsets, the PP-wave anomaly is negative for the ice/water interface and constant for the water/sediment interface. This behaviour is shown by AVA analysis of the synthetic data set. This study shows that subglacial lakes can be identified by using seismic methods. Moreover, the methodology provides a tool for designing suitable seismic surveys. 相似文献

Pi2 pulsations are nowadays thought to be transient hydromagnetic signals associated with the build-up of a new stationary magnetosphere-ionosphere coupling system after the sudden formation of the substorm current wedge. To illustrate this transient response mechanism, we will first briefly describe the substorm current circuit. Subsequently, we will demonstrate that the gross characteristics of high-latitude Pi2 can be explained by the sudden switch-on of this current wedge during substorm onset if its westward expansion is taken into account. We will conclude by discussing some additional phenomena and processes (like conductivity and electron density gradients, kinetic Alfvén waves, ionospheric polarization electric fields, and mode coupling) which have to be included into a realistic model for Pi2 pulsations and thus timedependent magnetosphere-ionosphere coupling. 相似文献

The quality of the links between the different space geodetic techniques (VLBI, SLR, GNSS and DORIS) is still one of the major limiting factors for the realization of a unique global terrestrial reference frame that is accurate enough to allow the monitoring of the Earth system, i.e., of processes like sea level change, postglacial rebound and silent earthquakes. According to the specifications of the global geodetic observing system of the International Association of Geodesy, such a reference frame should be accurate to 1 mm over decades, with rates of change stable at the level of 0.1 mm/year. The deficiencies arise from inaccurate or incomplete local ties at many fundamental sites as well as from systematic instrumental biases in the individual space geodetic techniques. Frequently repeated surveys, the continuous monitoring of antenna heights and the geometrical mount stability (Lösler et al. in J Geod 90:467–486, 2016. https://doi.org/10.1007/s00190-016-0887-8) have not provided evidence for insufficient antenna stability. Therefore, we have investigated variations in the respective system delays caused by electronic circuits, which is not adequately captured by the calibration process, either because of subtle differences in the circuitry between geodetic measurement and calibration, high temporal variability or because of lacking resolving bandwidth. The measured system delay variations in the electric chain of both VLBI- and SLR systems reach the order of 100 ps, which is equivalent to 3 cm of path length. Most of this variability is usually removed by the calibrations but by far not all. This paper focuses on the development of new technologies and procedures for co-located geodetic instrumentation in order to identify and remove systematic measurement biases within and between the individual measurement techniques. A closed-loop optical time and frequency distribution system and a common inter-technique reference target provide the possibility to remove variable system delays. The main motivation for the newly established central reference target, locked to the station clock, is the combination of all space geodetic instruments at a single reference point at the observatory.
