Semi-arid and arid areas exhibit great temporal variability in water availability. In some of these regions, a one- or two-day rainfall is followed by intervening dry periods of variable length. In recent decades, many rivers of the semi-arid portion of the Jequitinhonha Basin have been undergoing a progressive discharge reduction, mainly of their base flow, the Araçuaí River is one of them. In order to understand this transformation, a long-term analysis of the annual water balance of the Araçuaí River Basin was performed, the results of which are presented herein. Satellite images, hydrometeorological and river discharge data were analyzed; mean and variance tests were conducted to determine temporal homogeneity. Historical pluviometric data analysis shows no corresponding precipitation reduction and temperature undergoes only a slight increase in the same period. On the other hand, evaporation is extremely high, higher than precipitation during most of the year, leaving almost no water for infiltration (aquifer recharge) and runoff. Furthermore, the Araçuaí headwaters of its tributaries are now occupied by a monoculture, Eucaliptus sp., used for paper production. Because of the decreased fluvial discharges, its lowlands, usually used for agriculture and pasture, are abandoned and partially eroded. 相似文献

This study demonstrates the application of laser‐induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS) and hyperspectral imaging to the investigation of coprolite and fossil samples. Solid samples from the Permian (seven coprolites and one fossil), Cretaceous (one coprolite) and Oligo‐Miocene (two coprolites) periods were directly analysed, and emission spectra from 186 to 1042 nm were obtained in several areas covering coprolite/fossil and rock material. Initial exploratory analyses were performed using principal component analysis with the data set normalised by the norm (Euclidean norm = 1). After identification and selection of emission lines of eleven elements (Al, Ca, Cr, Fe, K, Mg, Mn, Na, Ni, P and Si), the signals were normalised again by the relative intensity of the selected element. Phosphorus was identified mainly in the coprolites, while K and Na were primarily found in the rock material. In several cases, there was a positive correlation between Ca and P. A sample from the Oligo‐Miocene series was also analysed using inductively coupled plasma‐optical emission spectrometry (ICP‐OES) (rock and coprolites were analysed separately). Based on the quantitative results from ICP‐OES, it was confirmed that the tendency was the same as that observed with the results obtained from LIBS directly in the solid sample. 相似文献

Deltas contain sedimentary records that are not only indicative of water‐level changes, but also particularly sensitive to earthquake shaking typically resulting in soft‐sediment‐deformation structures. The Kürk lacustrine delta lies at the south‐western extremity of Lake Hazar in eastern Turkey and is adjacent to the seismogenic East Anatolian Fault, which has generated earthquakes of magnitude 7. This study re‐evaluates water‐level changes and earthquake shaking that have affected the Kürk Delta, combining geophysical data (seismic‐reflection profiles and side‐scan sonar), remote sensing images, historical data, onland outcrops and offshore coring. The history of water‐level changes provides a temporal framework for the depositional record. In addition to the common soft‐sediment deformation documented previously, onland outcrops reveal a record of deformation (fracturing, tilt and clastic dykes) linked to large earthquake‐induced liquefactions and lateral spreading. The recurrent liquefaction structures can be used to obtain a palaeoseismological record. Five event horizons were identified that could be linked to historical earthquakes occurring in the last 1000 years along the East Anatolian Fault. Sedimentary cores sampling the most recent subaqueous sedimentation revealed the occurrence of another type of earthquake indicator. Based on radionuclide dating (137Cs and 210Pb), two major sedimentary events were attributed to the ad 1874 to 1875 East Anatolian Fault earthquake sequence. Their sedimentological characteristics were determined by X‐ray imagery, X‐ray diffraction, loss‐on‐ignition, grain‐size distribution and geophysical measurements. Relative dispersion in a neutrally stratified planetary boundary layer (PBL) is investigated by means of large-eddy simulations (LES). Despite the small extension of the inertial range of scales in the simulated PBL, our Lagrangian statistics turn out to be compatible with the Richardson t3 law for the average of square particle separation, where t is time. This emerges from the application of non-standard methods of analysis through which a precise measure of the Richardson constant was also possible. Its value is estimated as C2 0.5, in close agreement with recent experiments and three-dimensional direct numerical simulations. 相似文献

One of the seven potentially active andesite stratovolcanoes in southern Peru, Misti (5822 m), located 17 km northeast and 3.5 km above Arequipa, represents a major threat to the population (900,000 inhabitants). Our recent geophysical and geochemical research comprises an extensive self-potential (SP) data set, an audio–magnetotelluric (AMT) profile across the volcano and CO2 concentrations in the soil along a radial profile. The SP survey is the first of its kind in providing a complete mapping of a large andesitic stratovolcano 20 km in diameter. The SP mapping enables us to analyze the SP signature associated with a subduction-related active volcano.The general SP pattern of Misti is similar to that of most volcanoes with a hydrogeologic zone in the lower flanks and a hydrothermal zone in the upper central area. A quasi-systematic relationship exists between SP and elevation. Zones with constant SP/altitude gradients (Ce) are observed in both hydrogeologic (negative Ce) and hydrothermal (positive Ce) zones. Transition zones between the different Ce zones, which form a concentric pattern around the summit, have been interpreted in terms of lateral heterogeneities in the lithology. The highest amplitudes of SP anomalies seem to coincide with highly resistive zones. The hydrothermal system 6 km in diameter, which extends over an area much larger than the summit caldera, may be constrained by an older, concealed collapse caldera. A sealed zone has apparently developed through alteration in the hydrothermal system, blocking the migration of CO2 upward. Significant CO2 emanations are thus observed on the lower flanks but are absent above the hydrothermal zone. 相似文献

The vibrational spectrum of calcite (CaCO3) is evaluated at an ab initio periodic quantum-mechanical level by using the CRYSTAL package. A localized basis set of Gaussian-type functions and the B3LYP hybrid Hamiltonian are adopted. The dynamical matrix is obtained by differentiating numerically the analytical first derivatives of the energy. The accuracy with respect to all computational parameters is documented. The calculated frequencies are compared with available IR and RAMAN data (16 and 5 peaks, respectively), the mean absolute error being less than 12 cm–1 (frequencies range from 100 to 1600 cm–1). Overall, the agreement with experiment is very satisfactory, and shows that simulation can produce at a relatively low cost the full spectra of crystalline compounds of mineralogical interest. 相似文献

The observations of the solar radio emission on September 11, 2001, with the RATAN-600 radio telescope (southern sector) at four centimeter wavelengths (1.92, 2.24, 2.74, and 3.21 cm) revealed synchronous brightenings in solar radio sources. These were identified on the solar photosphere with active regions that were spaced up to ~106 km apart (AR 9608 and AR 9616). We discuss manifestations of the possible mechanisms of synchronous brightenings in solar sources in a narrow microwave spectral band. The significant linear correlation (ρc = 0.84–0.92) between the relative fluxes of AR 9610 and AR 9608 at 1.92 and 2.24 cm and the significant linear correlation (ρc = 0.65–0.84) between the relative fluxes of AR 9606 and AR 9608 at 3.21 cm in a two-hour interval of observations are indicative of the interconnection between these active regions not only during flares and bursts, but also in the periods of their absence. This confirms the existence of a large-scale temporal component in the dynamics of the radio flux variations for these active regions. We found a difference between the temporal variations of the radio emission from the halo and the solar radio sources under consideration. The times of increase in the total solar soft X-ray (0.5–4.0 Å, 1.0–8.0 Å; GOES 8, GOES 10) flux are shown to coincide with the times of increase in the fluxes from the solar radio sources at short centimeter wavelengths. 相似文献

In order to understand metal speciation in a polluted river (Este River, Northern Portugal) filtrate, freeze dried particles
and organics desorbed from surfaces were titrated with Cd(II) and Zn(II), followed by differential pulse anodic stripping
voltammetry (DPASV). The obtained results are compared with those previously published for Pb(II) and Cu(II). Due to the heterogeneity
of the system, a continuous and a discrete ligand model were used to interpret the titration data. Two types of ligands could
be detected and quantified by the discrete ligand model: small molecules with high affinities for cations such as Cd(II),
Cu(I), and Zn(II) and macromolecules with higher affinities for Pb(II) and Cu(II). Small ligands were strongly adsorbed onto
the particles, as inferred from the desorption of Zn(II) during titration with Pb(II) and Cd(II). The total concentrations
of the different ligands and the complex formation constants with the different metals are reported. 相似文献

Recession flow of aquifers from a hillslope can be described by the non-linear Boussinesq equation. Under strong assumptions
and for specific conceptual formulations, different authors derived analytical approximations or linearized versions to this
partial differential equation. A comparative analysis between some analytical approximations of the Boussinesq equation and
the numerical solution of the recession flow of an unconfined homogeneous aquifer (horizontal, inclined and concave aquifer
floor) was carried out. The objective was to define the range where the analytical solutions approximate the numerical solution.
The latter was considered in this study as the reference method, because it requires fewer assumptions. From the considered
analytical approximations, exponential decay relationships were found to be mainly valid for fine domain materials when horizontal,
mild slopes (less than 2%) and concave aquifer floors were considered, but failed to reproduce coarse aquifer numerical model
outflows, in contrast to the quadratic decay relationship, which better reproduce outflows in such domains. On the basis of
the comparative analysis, it has been found that recession flows obtained with the considered analytical approximations yield
similar values only for certain ranges of aquifer properties and geometries.
Résumé L’écoulement de décrue dans les aquifères de versant peut être décrit par l’équation non-linéaire de Boussinesq. En considérant d’importantes hypothèses et des formulations conceptuelles spécifiques, différents auteurs ont dérivé des approximations analytiques ou des versions linéarisées de cette équation partielle différentielle. Une analyse comparative entre des approximations analytiques de l’équation de Boussinesq et une solution numérique de la décrue d’un aquifère homogène libre (limite inférieure de l’aquifère horizontale, inclinée et concave) a été effectuée. L’objectif était de définir la plage pour laquelle les solutions analytiques approchent la solution numérique. Cette dernière a été considérée dans cette étude comme la méthode de référence car elle demande moins d’hypothèses. Parmi les approximations analytiques considérées, les relations de décroissance exponentielle se sont avérées être principalement valides pour des matériaux fins lorsque des couches aquifères horizontales, concaves et de pentes douces (moins de 2%) étaient considérées; en revanche, celles-ci n’ont pas réussi à reproduire les écoulements sortants d’un modèle numérique pour un aquifère à matériaux grossiers, contrairement à la relation de décroissance quadratique qui reproduit mieux les écoulements sortants dans de tels milieux. Sur la base de l’analyse comparative, il s’est avéré que les écoulements en décrue obtenus avec les approximations analytiques considérées présentent des valeurs similaires seulement pour certains critères géométriques et propriétés de l’aquifère.
Resumen Puede describirse el flujo de recesión de acuíferos de una ladera mediante la ecuación no-lineal de Boussinesq. Bajo fuertes supuestos y para formulaciones conceptuales específicas, distintos autores han derivado aproximaciones analíticas o versiones lineales para esta ecuación parcial diferencial. Se realizó un análisis comparativo entre algunas aproximaciones analíticas de la ecuación de Boussinesq y la solución numérica del flujo de recesión de un acuífero homogéneo no confinado (piso de acuífero cóncavo, inclinado, y horizontal). El objetivo consistió en definir el rango donde las soluciones analíticas aproximan la solución numérica. En este estudio se consideró la solución numérica como el método de referencia debido a que requiere menores supuestos. De las aproximaciones analíticas consideradas se encontró que las relaciones de desintegración exponencial eran principalmente válidas para materiales de ámbitos finos donde se consideraron pisos de acuíferos horizontal, pendientes medianas (menores a 2%) y cóncavos pero fallaron en reproducir flujos de salida de modelos numéricos de ámbito grueso, en contraste con la relación de desintegración cuadrática la cual reproduce mejor los flujos de salida en tales ámbitos. En base al análisis comparativo se encontró que los flujos de recesión obtenidos con las aproximaciones analíticas consideradas aportaron valores similares solo para ciertos rangos de propiedades y geometrías de acuíferos.相似文献
