A method for determining the velocity field parameters free from the distortions due to the systematic variations of stellar parallaxes over the celestial sphere is proposed. The method is based on the approximation of parallaxes as a function of coordinates on the sphere using spherical harmonics and can be applied in those cases where the solar motion cannot be eliminated from the stellar proper motions. Numerical experiments have shown that our method is able to obtain accurate coordinates of the solar apex and to calculate the kinematic parameters of the Ogorodnikov-Milne model to within three coefficients of the decomposition of parallaxes into first-order spherical harmonics. Examples of applying the method to the stellar proper motions of the Hipparcos catalogue, which admits checking the results using trigonometric parallaxes, are provided. Such a check has been found to yield a positive result only for nearby stars at heliocentric distances that do not exceed 400 pc and for which the parallaxes were determined with a relative error of at least 30%. An interesting feature of this method is the possibility to construct the shape of the figure which is formed by the deviations of the parallaxes from the sphere corresponding to the average parallaxes of the stars under consideration. It should be specially emphasized that all of this is done in the complete absence of information about the stellar parallaxes. The “solar terms” of the stellar proper motions that are formed by the products of the parallaxes by the solar motion components relative to the centroid of stars are the main source of information about the parallaxes here.  相似文献

Molecular hydrogen formation on the surfaces of interstellar dust grains has been studied numerically. Different stochastic methods (analogue Monte Carlo methods, direct solutions of the chemical master equation, continuous-time random-walk simulations, etc.) have been recently applied to the astrochemistry of hydrogen formation; however, the computational efficiency of these approaches is usually low because they are extremely time consuming (Herbst and Shematovich, 2003). A kinetic version of the Monte Carlo method based on splitting by physical processes is presented in the study. Each of the basic physical processes—adsorption of atomic hydrogen on the surface, thermal diffusion, formation of molecular hydrogen, and hydrogen desorption from the surface-are considered as independent random Markovian-type processes and are simulated using stochastic algorithms. The suggested numerical model is computationally efficient allowing calculations to be held on model surfaces with up to 106 active centers, which corresponds to interstellar grains of up to 0.4 μm in diameter. Test calculations of the efficiency of molecular hydrogen formation were held for the two models of the surfaces of interplanetary grains, namely, for the homogeneous surfaces of olivine and amorphous carbon. It was confirmed that the effective formation of molecular hydrogen in diffuse molecular clouds is possible only within a narrow range of dust-particle temperatures. A comparison with the numerical results of other authors is presented.  相似文献

We apply vector spherical functions to problems of stellar kinematics. Using these functions allows all of the systematic components in the stellar velocity field to be revealed without being attached to a specific physical model. Comparison of the theoretical decomposition coefficients of the equations for a particular kinematical model with observational data can provide precise information about whether the model is compatible with the observations and can reveal systematic components that are not described by this model. The formalism of vector spherical functions is particularly well suited for analyzing the present and future (e.g., GAIA) catalogs containing all three velocity vector components: the propermotions in both coordinates and the radial velocity. We show that there are systematic components in the proper motions of Hipparcos stars that cannot be interpreted in terms of the linear Ogorodnikov-Milne model. The same result is also confirmed by an analysis of the radial velocities for these stars.  相似文献

We use vector spherical harmonics for a kinematic analysis of the proper motions of stars from the Hipparcos, Tycho-2, and UCAC3 catalogues in the northern and southern Galactic hemispheres. We have found that the statistically reliable values of the Ogorodnikov-Milne model parameters M 32 + and M 32 ? have different signs in different hemispheres. This is a consequence of the Galaxy??s rotational retardation with distance from the principal Galactic plane. Based on various samples of stars from the above catalogues, we have obtained the following estimate for the magnitude of the vertical gradient of Galactic rotation velocity in the solar neighborhoods: (20.1 ± 2.9) < |?V??/?z| < (49.2 ± 0.8) km s?1 kpc?1. Another result that is revealed by our analysis of the parameters M 13 ? and M 13 + in different Galactic hemispheres is that the vertical gradient of expansion velocity for the stellar system ?V R /? z is positive in the northern hemisphere and negative in the southern one. This suggests that the expansion velocity V R increases with distance fromthe Galactic plane. We show that both these gradients give rise to an apparent acceleration of the solar motion along the x and y axes of the rectangular Galactic coordinate system. Our analysis of the parameters M 21 ? and M 12 + shows no significant differences in both hemispheres and has allowed us to determine the Oort parameters, to estimate the Galactic rotation velocity and period in the solar neighborhood, and to calculate the ratio of the epicyclic frequency to the angular velocity of Galactic rotation in the solar neighborhood. The derived diagonal elements of the velocity field deformation tensor suggest that the orientation of the rectangular Galactic coordinate system in space must be determined by taking into account not only the geometrical factors but also the dynamical ones. All these results agree well with these quantities estimated over the entire sphere by various authors.  相似文献

We report simultaneous multicolour observations in 5 bands (UBVRI) of the flickering variability of the cataclysmic variable AE Aqr. Our aim is to estimate the parameters (colours, temperature, size) of the fireballs that produce the optical flares. The observed rise times of the optical flares are in the interval 220‐440 s. We estimate the dereddened colours of the fireballs as (UB)0∼0.8‐1.4, (BV)0∼0.03‐0.24, and (VI)0∼0.26‐0.78. We find for the fireballs temperatures of 10000‐25000 K, masses of (7‐90)x1019 g, and sizes of (3‐7)x109 cm (using a distance of d = 86 pc). Two global analytical models of the main magnetic field of the Earth (MFE) have been used to determine their potential in deriving an anomalous MFE from balloon magnetic surveys conducted at altitudes of ~30 km. The daily mean spherical harmonic model (DMSHM) constructed from satellite data on the day of balloon magnetic surveys was analyzed. This model for the day of magnetic surveys was shown to be almost free of errors associated with secular variations and can be recommended for deriving an anomalous MFE. The error of the enhanced magnetic model (EMM) was estimated depending on the number of harmonics used in the model. The model limited by the first 13 harmonics was shown to be able to lead to errors in the main MFE of around 15 nT. The EMM developed to n = m = 720 and constructed on the basis of satellite and ground-based magnetic data fails to adequately simulate the anomalous MFE at altitudes of 30 km. To construct a representative model developed to m = n = 720, ground-based magnetic data should be replaced by data of balloon magnetic surveys for altitudes of ~30 km. The results of investigations were confirmed by a balloon experiment conducted by Pushkov Institute of Terrestrial Magnetism, Ionosphere, and Radio Wave Propagation of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Moscow Aviation Institute.  相似文献

Luminosities of Population I pulsating stars (Delta Scuti variables and classical cepheids) are investigated. From data for 80 Delta Scuti stars, semi-empirical period-luminosity-colour (P-L-C) relations and period-luminosity (P-L) relations are obtained for the four lowest modes of radial pulsations. The improvement of the accuracy of the stellar luminosity is determined when a P-L-C relation is used instead of the corresponding P-L relation. From data for 155 classical cepheids, empirical P-L relations are derived for short-period stars (logP1.1), long-period stars (logP>1.1), and s-cepheids. The comparison of the P-L relations for the two types of variable stars shows good agreement, but between them there is a gap with a dim nature.  相似文献

It is shown the possibility to determine the coordination of paramagnetic ions in disordered solid structures, e.g., in barium borate glasses. For this purpose the electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) method was used to study α-and β-BaB2O4 crystals and glasses of 45·BaO × 55·B2O3 and 40·BaO × 60·B2O3 (mol%) composition activated by Ag+ and Pb2+ ions. After the samples were exposed to X-rays at 77 K, different EPR centers were observed in them. In α-and β-BaB2O4 crystals and glasses the EPR centers Ag2+, Ag0, Pb+, Pb3+, and hole centers of O type were studied. The EPR parameters of these centers and their arrangement in crystal structure were determined. It is shown that Pb3+ ions in β-BaB2O4 crystals occupy Ba2+ position in an irregular polyhedron from the eight oxygen, whereas in α-BaB2O4 crystals they occupy Bа2 position in a sixfold coordination. Pb+ ions in α-BaB2O4 crystals occupy Bа1 position in a ninefold coordination from oxygen. In barium borate glasses, Pb3+ ions were studied in coordination polyhedron from six oxygen atoms and in a polyhedron from nine to ten oxygen atoms. It is assumed that the established difference in the structural position of Pb3+ ions in glasses is due to their previous incorporation in associative cation–anion complexes (AC) and “free” structure-forming cations (FC). Computer simulations have been performed to analyze the stability of specific associative complexes and to compare their bond lengths with experimental data.  相似文献

Evolutionary masses corresponding to various evolutionary phases of Population I pulsating stars (89 Delta Scuti variables and 155 classical cepheids) are interpolated in the systems of tracks of Iben (1967) and Paczyski (1970). The evolutionary masses are larger in the latter system than in the former one. The uncertainty of the evolutionary mass of a star is estimated, when various evolutionary phases are possible for this star (a smaller evolutionary mass corresponds to a later phase). Semi-empirical period-evolutionary mass-colour (P-M e -C) and period-evolutionary mass (P-M e ) relations are derived for various modes, groups of stars, colour indices (and effective temperature), and evolutionary phases. For Delta Scuti stars, the uncertainty of evolutionary masses calculated from theP-M e relations for different modes, is estimated. The improvement of the evolutionary mass accuracy is estimated, when aP-M e -C relation is used instead of the correspondingP-M e relation. The theoretical and semi-empirical period ratios of radial pulsations derived from theP-M e relations for Delta Scuti stars, are compared. There is a relatively good agreement between theP-M e relations for the two types of Population I pulsating stars, but a gap exists between them. The evolutionary masses of these stars are closer in the two systems of tracks and are derived with a relatively higher accuracy in comparison with their ages.  相似文献
