The results of the field observation of freezing melted puddles on the drift ice in the Arctic Basin carried out in July–September of 2005 during cruise 23 of R/V Akademik Fedorov are analyzed, and a thermodynamical model of the process based on these results is developed. The essential features of the evolution of puddles in the period of autumn cooling were revealed. The unfrozen liquid layer was shown to be a qualitative component of the system that defines its behavior as a whole. We concluded that the sea ice growing from below is absent until the thickness of the frozen water reaches a critical value that is determined by its initial salinity.  相似文献

Measurements of the short internal waves in a shallow Arctic fjord revealed that the fluctuations of the temperature and current velocity with a period of approximately 10 min and the amplitude of the internal waves around 1 m correlate with the ice cover fluctuations of the same period with an approximate amplitude of a few millimeters. A spectral analysis of a series of integrated MgXII 8.42 Å X-ray intensities recorded by the CORONAS-F SPIRIT spectroheliometer is presented. Statistically significant peaks for periods in the intervals 12–30 min and 40–200 min were found in the power spectra. The power spectrum for these periods changed after the emergence of new photospheric magnetic flux in the active region NOAA 9840.  相似文献

Evidence is presented for the existence of a 2.3 day periodicity in the line-profile changes of the apparently singleWolf-Rayet star WR 134. This cyclical variability may be induced either by the presence of an orbiting collapsed companion, or by the rotational modulation of a largely inhomogeneous outflow. As a conclusion of our all-sky variability survey of the 'enigmatic' variable WN8 stars, we have carried out coordinated multisite photometric and spectroscopic observations of WN8 stars in 1989 and 1994–1995. We confirm the leading role of the stellar core in restructuring the whole wind. This emerges as a statistical trend: the higher the level of the ∼continuum (i.e. ∼core) light variations, the higher the variability of the P Cygni edges of the optical emission lines. However, the form of the correlation between the light and profile variations is generally different for each individual star. The high level of activity of WN8 stars may be supported/induced by pulsational instability.  相似文献

With the objective of investigating the windwind collision phenomenon and supporting contemporaneous X-ray observations, we have organized a large-scale, coordinated optical monitoring campaign of the massive, highly eccentric O9 III+B1 III binary Iota Orionis. Successfully separating the spectra of the components, we refine the orbital elements and confirm the rapid apsidal motion in the system. We also see strong interaction between the components during periastron passage and detect phase-locked variability in the spectrum of the secondary star. However, we find no unambiguous signs of the bow shock crashing on the surface of the secondary, despite the predictions of hydrodynamic simulations. Combining all available photometric data, we find rapid, phase-locked variations and model them numerically, thus restricting the orbital inclination to 50° i 70°.  相似文献

The paper presents the results of studying chemical and biological quality characteristics of the aquatic environment in the area of operation of trout farms in Kondopoga Bay, Onega Lake. The concentrations of biochemically labile substances and phosphorus were found to increase near the ponds. The development dynamics of phytoplankton, zooplankton, and benthic organisms in the zone of pond farms. When the procedure of fish production is strictly followed, the effect of ponds on the aquatic environment and biota is minimal.  相似文献

Using all of the atmospheric patterns classified by Polyakova A.M., we accomplished calculations of the surface wind fields over the North Pacific for wind waves observable 6, 12, 18, and 24 hours after a storm and the swell waves observable 24, 48, and 72 hours after a storm. The considerable extension of the ocean creates quasi-unlimited speeding up of the wind waves during continuous strong winds (over 20 meters per second). This determines the presence of wide areas of highly developed wind waves with a 5% probability that the wave heights will exceed the 10–12 meter estimates. The swell waves decay faster: their height reduces by half in 24 h, while, in 72 h, they achieve the background level of the ocean’s swell waves.  相似文献
