Two samples of the Murchison C2 chondrite were examined for organic nitrogen compounds, using mass spectrometry as well as paper and thin-layer chromatography. Under mild extraction conditions (water or formic acid) only aliphatic amines and C2-C6 alkylpyridines were seen; the latter may be contaminants. Under drastic extraction conditions (hot, 3–6 M HCl or CF3COOH), a variety of basic nitrogen compounds appeared, in the following amounts (ppm): adenine (15), guanine (5), melamine (20), cyanuric acid (20–30), guanylurea (30–45), urea (25), etc. Apparently these compounds are present mainly in macromolecular material, and are released only upon acid hydrolysis.These findings support our earlier identifications of these compounds in the Orgueil meteorite. They also suggest that the recent failure by Folsomeet al. (Nature232, 108–109, 1971; Geochim. Cosmochim. Acta37, 455–465, 1973) to find purines or triazines in carbonaceous chondrites was due to inadequate extraction conditions: water and formic acid, rather than HCl. Conversely, we were unable to detect the principal compound class reported by Folsome et al.: 4-hydroxypyrimidines.  相似文献

Abstract. Kuroko deposits are a representative volcanic‐hosted massive sulfide deposit and the Hokuroku district is economically the most important Kuroko containing province in Japan. There are two cycles of the bimodal volcanic sequence in the Hokuroku district. The pre‐ore volcanism started with basaltic activity and was followed by intensive felsic hyaloclas‐tic activity under bathyal conditions. The post‐ore sequence also began with basaltic activity intercalated with mudstone and was followed by alternating beds of pumice tuff with several lava flows and mudstone. Kuroko deposits are situated in the final period of the pre‐ore felsic volcanic sequence of the first bimodal volcanic cycle. Based on a detailed investigation of existing age data, it was concluded that the felsic volcanic sequences in the pre‐and post‐Kuroko formation can be divided into a pre‐ore dacite group (16–13.5 Ma), a D2 dacite group (lower unit of the post‐ore volcanic sequence, 12.7±0.6~ ll Ma) and a Dl dacite group (upper unit of the post‐ore sequence including quartz‐porphyry and granitoid, 11sim;10 Ma) in ascending order. Field and microscopic observations show that the pre‐ore dacite is characterized by aphyric to plagioclase‐phyric lava and the post‐ore dacitic rocks are characterized by quartz‐plagioclase‐phyric aphanitic lava and dome. These three dacite groups are petrochemically discriminated by SiO2‐Al2O3 and CaO‐TiO2 diagrams, excluding altered specimens. The distribution of the normative compositions on the Q‐An‐Ab‐Or diagram suggests that the pre‐ore dacites trend on the 5 kb cotectic line (equilibrated to 10—15 km deep) and those of the post‐ore trend along the 1 kb line (a few km deep). The secular variation of the major elements indicates that the rhyolitic members genetically related to the Kuroko formation could be the most differentiated products in the pre‐ore felsic volcanism. The distribution of Nb against SiO2 content in the pre‐ and post‐ore bimodal volcanic cycles indicates that these two volcanisms could have been generated by different magmatic origins. The difference would have been caused by the tectonic conversion from a back‐arc to an island‐arc setting.  相似文献

The diamagnetic properties of sheetsilicates are studied by measuring the magnetic orientation of micron-sized crystals. In the case of synthetic phlogopite with the average diameter of 0.65 μm and the thickness of 0.2 μm, the alignment of the grains is achieved in the magnetic field below 35 kOe. The planes of the platy single-crystal grains were alignned parallel to the field when the alignment was achieved. The alignment of the grains is realized because the field-induced anisotropic energy, caused by the diamagnetic anisotropy in the mineral's crystal structure, exceeds thermal agitation energy in the applied field. By analyzing the field dependence of grain alignment, the diamagnetic anisotropy per formula unit, Δχ, of sheetsilicate mineral is estimated even if a large single crystal is not provided. The field-induced anisotropic energy is proportional to NΔχ where N is the number of molecules in the grain. A linear correlation has been found between the Δχ value and the F/OH mole ratio among the measured sheetsilicates. This correlation supports the assumption that the hexagonally packed oxygen-layer in the crystal lattice induces the anisotropies of the sheetsilicates.  相似文献

Based on continuous observations of the planetary boundary layer (PBL) with anL-band (1357.5 MHz) boundary-layer radar (BLR) at a hilly location in Japan, we have discovered that on clear days, a thin enhanced echo layer corresponding to the top of the PBL (or mixed layer) appeared at about 500 m height in the morning and ascended to about 1500 m in the afternoon. Strong upward velocities were observed below the echo layer (or inside the PBL), reaching 1500 m in the afternoon.  相似文献

To fill temporal gaps in iron-enrichment experimental data and gain further understanding of marine ecosystem responses to iron enrichments, we apply a fifteen-compartment ecosystem model to three iron-enrichment sites, namely SEEDS (the Subarctic Pacific Iron Experiment for Ecosystem Dynamics Study; 48.5°N, 165°E) in the western North Pacific, SOIREE (the Southern Ocean Iron RElease Experiment; 61°S, 140°E) in the Southern Ocean, and IronExII (the second mesoscale iron enrichment experiment; 3.5°S, 104°W) in the Equatorial Pacific. The ecological effects of iron in the model are represented by changing two photosynthetic parameters during the iron-enrichment period. The model results successfully reproduce the observed biogeochemical responses inside and outside the iron patch at each site, such as rapid increases in plankton biomass and biological productivity, and decreases in surface nutrients and pCO2, inside the patch. However, the modeled timing and magnitude of changes differ among the sites because of differences in both physical environments and plankton species. After the iron enrichment, the diatom productivity is strongly controlled by light at SOIREE and by silicate at IronExII and SEEDS. Light limitation due to self-shading by the phytoplankton is significant during the bloom at all sites. Sensitivity analysis of the model results to duration of the iron enrichment reveals that long-term multiple infusions over more than a week would not be effective at SEEDS because of strong silicate limitation on diatom growth. Sensitivity of the model to water temperature shows that export production is higher at lower temperatures, because of slower recycling of particulate organic carbon. Therefore, the e-ratio (the ratio of export production to primary production) is inversely correlated with temperature, and the relationship can be described with a linear function. Through this study, we conclude that ecosystem modeling is a powerful tool to help design future iron-enrichment experiments and observational plans.  相似文献

The mid-Cretaceous is well known for its ocean anoxic events. The causal mechanisms are controversial: stagnant deepwater, high biological productivity in the surface waters, and other possibilities have been suggested. Our study simulated the mid-Cretaceous ocean, using general circulation models combined with a marine biogeochemical cycle model to explore the relationship between thermohaline circulation and biogeochemical cycles and investigate the causes of ocean anoxic events. The simulated thermohaline circulation shows an unsteady inactive state. Oxygen concentrations in the deepwater decrease under the inactive state, but a horizontal gradient develops, with higher oxygen concentrations in the Tethys and lower concentrations in eastern Panthalassa. This is not due to the different ages of the deepwater but rather to the differences in biological productivity in the surface water, meaning that the relationship between thermohaline circulation and biogeochemical cycles under the inactive state is different from that in the present ocean. In the standard simulation, assuming the present level of the total amount of phosphate in the ocean, 29% of the bottom water is anoxic. The experiments increasing the amount of phosphate show its high sensitivity for extending the anoxic region with global-scale anoxia simulated under the doubled amount of phosphate. The high amount of phosphate would be reasonable because the inactive state would induce an imbalance of phosphate between riverine input and sediment output. Therefore, both the inactive thermohaline circulation and the increase in the total amount of phosphate in the ocean induce the global-scale anoxic condition in the deepwater.  相似文献

To obtain the basic information required before using Populus alba L. to phytoremediate degraded saline environments, we investigated the effects of saline irrigation on the growth, survival, Na partitioning, and Na dynamics of 1-year-old rooted cuttings. The plants were grown in a greenhouse in lysimeters containing sandy soil and were watered with field water (control) or solutions containing either 2000 or 5000 mg L?1 of a mixture of NaCl and CaCl2 (low- and high-salt treatments, respectively). All plants in the control and the low-salt treatment survived after 1 year of treatment, but the high-salt treatment significantly decreased growth and caused 20% mortality. Strong Na partitioning was observed in the roots in all three treatments, suggesting that this is an important salt tolerance mechanism in P. alba. Total Na uptake was similar in the low-salt and high-salt treatments, and was about 3 times the value in the control. However, the compartmentalization of Na in fallen leaves, dead leaves and dead branches in the high-salt treatment was about twice the level in the low-salt treatment. The plants accumulate Na under moderate levels of salinity, suggesting that P. alba is a good candidate for phytoremediating salinized soil.  相似文献
