Petrological and geochronological investigations were carried out on metamorphic rocks of the Veporic unit (Inner Western Carpathians) in northern Hungary. K/Ar and Ar/Ar data on micas and amphibole show only Alpine ages (mostly in the range of 87-95 Ma) in this basement unit. Thermobarometric calculations yield lower amphibolite facies peak conditions (ca. 550냴 °C and 9ǃ kbar) for the Eoalpine metamorphic event. Complex evolution of gneissic rocks is reflected by the presence of discontinuously zoned garnets, the cores of which may represent relics of a pre-Alpine (presumably Variscan) thermal event. Zircon fission track (FT) data in the narrow range of 75-77.5 Ma indicate that this portion of the Veporic unit was emplaced to shallow crustal levels already during the Senonian time. The relative minor difference between zircon FT and K/Ar or Ar/Ar ages suggests very rapid cooling during the Late Cretaceous, most probably related to the extensional unroofing of the Veporic core complex. The obtained cooling ages do not support previous models of Tertiary uplift and exhumation of the Veporic unit along the Hurbanovo-Diósjeni Line.  相似文献

The significant discordance of the radiometric (Rb-Sr, Pb-U, K-Ar and fission track) ages from various orogenic cycles of the Dharwar, Satpura, Aravalli and Himalayan orogenic belts in India, coupled with their corresponding blocking temperatures for various radiometric clocks in whole rocks and minerals, has been used to evaluate the cooling and the uplift histories of the respective orogenic belts. The blocking temperatures used in the present study of various Rb-Sr (isotopic homogenization at 600°C, muscovite at 500°C and biotite at 300°C), Pb-U (monazite at 530°C), K-Ar (muscovite at 350°C and biotite at 300°C) and fission-track clock (zircon at 350°C, sphene at 300°C, garnet at 280°C, muscovite at 130°C, hornblende at 120°C and apatite at 100°C for the cooling rate l°C/Ma) have been found suitable to explain the differences in mineral ages by different radiometric techniques. The nature of the cooling curves drawn using the temperature versus age data for various orogenic cycles in India has also been discussed. The cooling and the uplift patterns determined for various orogenic cycles of India, suggest comparatively slow cooling (5.0–0.2°C/Ma) and uplift (180–2 m/Ma) for the Peninsular regions and rapid cooling (25.0–1.0° C/Ma) and fast uplift (800–30 m/Ma) during the Himalayan Orogenic Cycle (Upper Cretaceous—Tertiary) in the Extra-Peninsular region.  相似文献

The data published earlier on zircon and sphene fission track ages and annealing are discussed in the light of different etching conditions used for age determination and annealing experiments in order to explain the age discordances of some zircon and sphene pairs, as well as numerous closing temperatures obtained for individual minerals. Using the new set of simple etching conditions, zircon (KOH melt) and sphene (HF+HCl), the annealing experiments indicate that tracks in sphene are annealed more easily than in zircon. The closing temperature of zircon and sphene have been calculated at 300° and 250° C respectively. The study reveals that both the fission track age and the closing temperature of a mineral can vary considerably if different etchants are used. For different etching conditions the closing temperatures (T) of sphene have the following order: T NaOH> T HF+HCl+HNO3+H2O> THF+HCl>THCl. An alternative method can be used to obtain thermal histories of rocks by selectively applying various etchants on the same mineral.  相似文献

This study aims to investigate the degree of the influence of contaminant sources on both the surface (Porsuk River) and groundwater in the Eskisehir plain, (Turkey) and to determine the changes in groundwater quality after the sewage system was started in 1998. For this purpose surface and groundwater samples were collected from various locations in the Eskisehir plain between May and October, 2001. The Porsuk River is already polluted in the upstream wastewater and by industries such as Nitrogen Fertilizer Factory, Sugar-beet Factory, and Magnesite Factory located around the city of Kutahya. This high-contaminated water forms an eutrophic environment which generates high phosphorus and nitrogen in downstream flow. Agricultural and industrial activities in the Eskisehir plain are an additional source of the pollution of the Porsuk River. The study revealed that some trace elements, Pb, Cr, Mn, Fe, and Cd, are present in high concentrations both in the surface and groundwater besides extremely high quantities of phosphorus, nitrogen and sulfide compounds. In addition, analyses of samples also indicated that there are no considerable contaminations in terms of local pesticides. High concentration of Cd, N and S are found in the groundwater. On the basis of a detailed analysis of the groundwater in the Eskisehir plain, it is concluded that groundwater is not suitable for drinking according to Turkish standards, European Union Standards (EU) and World Health Organization (WHO). In this study a new method is presented to determine model parameters from magnetic anomalies caused by dipping dikes. The proposed method is applied by employing only the even component of the anomaly. First, the maximum of the even component is divided to its value at any distance x in order to obtain S1. Then, theoretical even component values are computed for the minimal depth (h) and half-width (b) values. S2 is obtained by dividing their maximum to the value computed for the same distance x. A set of S2 values is calculated by slowly increasing the half-width, and h and b for the S2 closest to S1 are determined. The same procedure is repeated by increasing the depth. The determined b values are plotted against the corresponding values of h. After repeating the process and plotting curves for different distances, it is possible to determine the actual depth and half-width values.  相似文献

Seismogenic sedimentary structures – seismites – provide an opportunity to understand the effects of syndepositional tectonics on lacustrine sedimentation. The lowermost Wilkins Peak Member (Eocene Green River Formation, Wyoming, USA) contains laterally extensive intervals displaying folds, load structures, mixed brittle–ductile deformation, microfaults, breccias and sedimentary dykes, which formed intrastratally in a low‐energy, sublittoral lacustrine environment. They developed in situ by liquefaction and plastic or brittle behaviour of semi‐lithified sediment, or by remobilization and injection of granular material. Their morphological attributes and lateral extent, zonation in deformation intensity and the depositional setting all imply deformation triggered by earthquake‐induced stresses in shallow‐buried sediment. Their stratigraphic distribution coincides with a shift in hydrological conditions from a balanced‐filled to an underfilled lake type, independent of climate change. This study is the first to ascribe seismites to a pulse of tectonic activity that caused a synchronous change in lacustrine evolution.  相似文献

A ring-shaped infrared emission region is recognizable on the IRAS Sky Flux images of a Cepheus region which happens to include the association Cepheus OB 2. The ring is easily visible both at 60 and 100 microns. The approximate galactic coordinates of its centre arel=102°.8 andb=+6°.7, with an outer diameter of 7 deg. IC 1396 and several otherHii regions, such as S 129, S 133, S 134, and S 140 are apparently parts of the ring. If it is assumed that these Hii regions are physically connected to the ring its distance must be about 900 pc and its diameter 120 pc. The existence of several arc-shaped H filaments along the ring, the proper motion of the nearby runaway star Cephei, and the possible presence of the [Fex] 6375 interstellar line in the spectra of two stars of Cep OB 2 combine to suggest that the infrared ring might well be a result of a supernova explosion which occurred in this region about 2–3 million years ago.  相似文献

The clinoptilolite rich zeolite from Bigadiç which was formed from alteration of volcanic glass were treated with acidic (HCl, H3BO3, H3PO4), alkaline (KOH, NaOH) solutions. Hydrothermally treated and untreated samples were heat treated at 400, 550 and 700°C. XRD, ICP-MS and N2 gas adsorption were used for physicochemical characterization of zeolites. Considering the Si/Al > 4 and Na+K/Ca+Mg < 1 ratios, zeolite sample is included to earth alkali clinoptilolite class (Heu II) which is also revealed by thermal treatments. Since zeolite structure contains low alkalies it was at collapsed 550°C. The removal of oxide elements efficiency of acids and alkalies were in the order of HCl > H3PO4 > HBO3 > KOH > NaOH. XRD analysis indicated that the structure of zeolite was not altered with acids and alkali treatments. The structure of zeolite treated with HCl and other acids started to deform at 400 and 550°C respectively. In treatment with HCl, Si/Al ratio increases with significant a decrease in K content which resulted in a decrease in the heat stability of zeolite. No change was observed in the structure and thermal stability of clinoptilolite after alkali treatments. The fact that although significant amount of Na is removed with H3BO3 acid and Na is increased with NaOH but the thermal stability remains the same indicates that Na cation is not an important parameter as much as K. HCl and H3PO4 acid treatments increased the surface area depending on the dissolution of amorphous material and H3PO4 was found to be more effective. However, the total pore size decreased due to formation of new micropores.  相似文献
