A numerical simulation scheme for the albedo of city street canyons   总被引:4,自引:0,他引:4  
A numerical scheme is described for the calculation of effective albedo values of long city street canyons. The method is based on a generalization of the radiation model for inclined surfaces recently presented by Brühl and Zdunkowski (1983). Calculated albedo values are compared with Aida's (1982) experimentally determined results. It is found that experiment and theory are in reasonable and in some cases in excellent agreement. Additional results obtained by varying the geometry of the street canyon as well as the surface reflectivities are shown to demonstrate the versatility of the calculation scheme.  相似文献

Summary A simple procedure is presented to eliminate the influence of tidal oscillation from hydrographic measurements. This is done with a transformation from a co-ordinate system fixed in space to a co-ordinate system fixed in time using results of a numerical tidal model. The procedure is applied to a hydrographic survey in the German Bight. The hydrographic structure transformed onto a co-ordinate system fixed in time is much more similar to the structure obtained by satellite pictures and shows dynamical processes much clearer than in a co-ordinate system fixed in space.
Gezeitenkorrektur von hydrographischen Messungen
Zusammenfassung In dieser Arbeit wird ein Verfahren vorgestellt, das hydrographische Messungen vom Einfluß periodischer Variationen durch die Gezeiten bereinigt. Dies geschieht unter Benutzung von Ergebnissen eines numerischen Modells durch eine Transformation einer gemessenen hydrographischen Struktur von einem ortsfesten in ein zeitfestes System. Dieses Verfahren wird auf eine hydrographische Aufnahme der Deutschen Bucht angewandt. Die auf ein zeitfestes Koordinatensystem transformierte hydrographische Messung zeigt sehr viel Ähnlichkeit mit einer synoptischen Messung, die bei einem Satellitenüberflug gewonnen wurde. Bestimmte dynamische Prozesse in der Deutschen Bucht lassen sich zudem im zeitfesten Koordinatensystem besser erkennen als im ortsfesten Koordinatensystem.

Correction de l'influence de la marée sur les mesures hydrologiques
Résumé L'article présente une méthode simple pour éliminer l'influence de la marée sur les mesures hydrologiques. Cela est obtenu par le passage d'un système de coordonnées fixe dans l'espace à un système de coordonnées fixe dans le temps utilisant les résultats d'un modèle numérique de marée. La méthode est appliquée à un levé hydrologique dans la Baie Allemande. La structure hydrologique obtenue dans un système de coordonnées fixe dans le temps est beaucoup plus proche de celle qui est obtenue par les images satellites et décrit le processus dynamique beaucoup plus clairement que dans un système de coordonnées fixe dans l'espace.

The formation of authigenic Ca-rich rhodochrosite (ACR) in sapropelic sediments of the Gotland Basin, Baltic Sea, is governed by deepwater renewal processes whereby saline water from the North Atlantic flushes the brackish anoxic Baltic Deeps. The carbon and oxygen isotopic compositions of these Mn-carbonates suggest that ACR formation takes place just below the sediment surface and that dissolved compounds from the deepwater column, such as water and bicarbonate molecules, were incorporated in ACR during authigenesis. Porewaters near the sediment surface display δ18O values of −5.4‰ (VSMOW) and are generally depleted in 18O, compared to the oxygen isotopic composition of water in equilibrium with Mn-carbonate solid solutions (ACR δ18O values are −4.6‰). This suggests that early burial diagenetic processes significantly modify the initial isotopic composition of water during Mn-carbonate formation. The reduction of sulfate having δ18O values of +8.4‰ accounts for a permanent enrichment of porewater 18O and observed δ18O values at depth equal to −4.6‰. However, this process does not explain the observed disequilibrium in the oxygen isotopic composition between water and ACR close to the sediment surface where Mn-carbonate formation takes place. Based on isotopic mass balance calculations, we suggest that MnO2 with δ18O values of +8.9‰ released oxygen enriched in 18O into the anoxic porewaters close below the sediment surface. This process should occur after oxygenation events during deepwater renewal when MnO2 accumulates at the surface of anoxic sediments. Manganese carbonates formed in these waters display δ18O values of ∼1.0‰ heavier than values expected solely from the initial deepwater composition. This quantitatively explains the discrepancy between paleosalinities calculated from ACR δ18O based on Mn-carbonate/water isotopic equilibrium fractionation and direct observations for the same period. Our results emphasize the important role of microbial MnO2 reduction during rhodochrosite authigenesis and suggest that Mn(II) activity, rather than alkalinity, is the limiting component for sedimentary Mn-carbonate formation.  相似文献

Thorough understanding of the shock metamorphic signatures of zircon could be the basis for the use of this mineral as a powerful tool for the study of old, deeply eroded, and metamorphically overprinted impact structures and formations. This study of the cathodoluminescence (CL) and Raman spectroscopic signatures of experimentally (20-60 GPa) shock-metamorphosed zircon single crystals contributes to the understanding of high-pressure microdeformation in zircon. For all samples, an inverse relationship between the brightness of the backscattered electron (BSE) signal and the corresponding cathodoluminescence intensity was observed. The unshocked sample shows crosscutting, irregular fractures. The 20 GPa sample displays some kind of mosaic texture of CL brighter and darker domains, but does not exhibit any shock metamorphic features in BSE or CL images. The 40 GPa sample shows a high density of lamellar features, which might be explained by the phase transformation between zircon- and scheelite-structure phases of zircon and resulting differences in the energy levels of the activator elements. The CL spectra of unshocked and shocked (20, 40, and 60 GPa) zircon samples are dominated by narrow emission lines and broad bands in the region of visible light and in the near-UV range. The emission lines result from rare earth element activators and the broad bands might be associated with lattice defects. Raman spectra revealed that the unshocked and 20 GPa samples represent zircon-structure material, whereas the 40 GPa sample yielded additional peaks with relatively high peak intensities, which are indicative of the presence of the scheelite-type high-pressure phase. The 60 GPa sample has a Raman signature that is similar to that of an amorphous phase, in contrast to the observations of an earlier TEM study that the crystalline scheelite-structure phase is stable at this shock pressure. The 60 GPa Raman signature cannot be explained at this stage. The results show a clear dependence of the CL and Raman properties of zircon on shock pressure, which confirm the possible usage of these methods as shock indicators.  相似文献

Multimineral Rb/Sr internal isochrons from eclogite facies rocks of the Eclogite Zone (Tauern Window, Eastern Alps) consistently yield an Early Oligocene age of 31.5±0.7 Ma. This age has been obtained both for late-prograde, dehydration-related eclogitic veins, and for rocks variably deformed and recrystallized under eclogite facies conditions (2.0–2.5 GPa, 600°C). Initial Sr-isotopic equilibria among all phases indicate absence of significant post-eclogitic isotope redistribution processes, therefore the ages date eclogite facies assemblage crystallization. Equilibria also prove that no prolonged pre-eclogite facies history is recorded in the rocks. Instead, subduction, prograde mineral reactions, and eclogitization proceeded rapidly. Fast exhumation immediately after eclogitization, with minimum rates >36 mm/a is inferred from a 31.5±0.5 Ma internal mineral isochron age of a post-eclogitic greenschist facies vein assemblage. Such rates equal typical subduction rates. Late Eocene to Early Oligocene subduction of the European continental margin, with subsequent rapid exhumation of high-pressure nappe complexes has previously been recognized only in the Western Alps. The new data signify synchronous continental collision all along the Alpine belt. Our results demonstrate the unique potential of Rb/Sr assemblage system analysis for precise dating of both eclogite facies and post-eclogitic events, thus for precisely constraining exhumation rates of deep-seated rocks, and for straightforward linkage of petrologic evidence with isotopic ages.  相似文献

The natural early-diagenetic environment ``anoxicporewater – authigenic mineral phases' has beencharacterized in sediment of the Gotland Deep,Baltic Sea, by a closed-system model. Occurrence ofcarbonate precipitates as thin almost pure whitelaminae was considered as a natural experiment forlong-term equilibration between these phases andporewater. Plots of distribution coefficientsindicate that metastable equilibrium exists betweenporewater and the authigenic Ca-rich rhodochrositephases below 7 cm depth. A thermodynamic model ofporewater geochemistry at in situ P = 25 barand T = 5 °C was developed using the Gibbsenergy minimization (GEM) approach. The values of isobaric-isothermal potentials of Mn, Ca, Fe, Mg,Sr, Ba, C, and O, calculated from the porewatercomposition, were used in a new ``dual thermodynamic'calculation approach to estimate solid activitycoefficients of the end-members in the non-idealsolid solution (Mn, Ca, Mg, Sr, Ba, Fe)CO3,i.e., at full major and minor multi-componentcomplexity. The regular Margules interactionparameters for the composing binaries estimated bythis model were Mn-Ca = 1.9 ± 0.5,Mn-Mg = 0.6,Ca-Mg = 3.7,Mn-Fe = 0.2,Ca-Fe = 2.8,Mn-Sr = 9.7,Ca-Sr = 2.15,Mn-Ba = 4.0,Ca-Ba = 1.4,validating the theoretical predictions given byLippmann in his pioneering 1980's paper. Thestrictly thermodynamic equilibrium model is not onlyable to match both the measured porewater andcarbonate solid-solution composition, but also topredict that the porewater pH, pe, alkalinity, anddissolved Mn, Fe, and S concentrations arecontrolled by the authigenic mineral bufferingassemblage mackinawite-greigite-rhodochrosite. Ourmodel is only compatible with the idea of ACRformation with typical composition (XMnbetween 70–75%) in the topmost sediment layerwhich, however, needs a major source ofMnaq II. This is provided by reduction ofparticulate Mn oxides precipitated in significantamounts in the water column upon major inflow eventsin the Baltic Sea. The model enables also to set upscenarios of changing environmental conditions, e.g.,to predict the non-linear response of the carbonatesolid-solution composition to changes in Mn loading,alkalinity and salinity of the sediment-watersystem. The results suggest that the major andespecially minor element contents (Sr, Mg, Ba) inauthigenic carbonates can be applied as anenvironmental paleoproxy.  相似文献

We present the outcomes of simulations of the formation of the Vista Alegre impact structure, Paraná Basin, Brazil. The target comprised a thick sequence of volcanic rocks of predominantly basaltic composition of the Serra Geral Formation that had been deposited on top of sedimentary rocks (sandstones) of the Pirambóia/Botucatu formations. The cratering process was modeled using the iSALE shock physics code. Our best‐fit model suggests that (1) the crater was originally ~10 km in size; (2) it was formed in ~115 s by a stony projectile of 1000 m in diameter, for an assumed impact velocity of 12 km s?1; (3) target rocks underwent a peak pressure of ~20 GPa, in agreement with previous petrographic investigations of shock deformation. Furthermore, the model points out that the sedimentary strata below the layer of volcanic rocks were raised by ~650 meters at the central part of the crater, which resulted in the current partial exposure of the sandstones at the surface. The outcomes of our modeling suggest that parameters like cohesion and strength of the target rocks, after shock compression, determined the final morphology of the crater, especially the absence of a topographically prominent central peak. Finally, the results of the numerical modeling are roughly in agreement with gravity data over the structure, in particular with respect to the presence of the uplifted sedimentary strata, which are responsible for a low gravity signature at the center of the structure.  相似文献

Anthropogenic lead (Pb) inputs to the atmosphere increased greatly over the past century and now dominate Pb supply to the oceans. However, the Pb content of sediments across the equatorial Pacific region is relatively unknown, and data exist only for deep sea sites where Pb deposition lags surface water inputs by up to a century. Here we present ICP-MS analyses of Pb of a core from a lagoon at Palmyra Atoll, northern Line Islands, that spans approximately the past 160 years. The non-bioturbated sediments of the euxinic lagoon, coupled with rapid rates of deposition, provide a unique fine-scale record of atmospheric Pb supply at a remote Pacific location. These first observations of historic Pb sedimentation in an atoll lagoon reveal a 63-fold increase in Pb flux to sediments during the past century and correlate directly with the North American consumption of leaded gasoline that began in 1926.  相似文献
