Abstract Zircon U–Pb sensitive high mass-resolution ion microprobe dating was carried out on three types of granitic rock (gneissose biotite granodiorite, biotite granite and two-mica granite) from the Cretaceous Ryoke belt of the Kinki district, Southwest Japan. The results give the ages of granitic magmatism in the Shigi-san area of between 87 and 78 Ma and suggest extensive melting of the Cretaceous Ryoke granitic crust to form the two-mica granite, probably at ca 80 Ma. Discrimination into older and younger granites based on development of gneissosity does not appear to represent the sequence of magma generation, although there is some scope in the interpretation of the zircon U–Pb data that would allow all three granites to form at 83 Ma. Compilation of chemical Th-U-total Pb isochron dating method ages, whole rock Rb–Sr isotope ages and U–Pb isotope ages indicates that most Ryoke plutonism occurred from ca 70 Ma to ca 100 Ma. Younger (85 Ma–70 Ma) plutonism with the formation of two-mica granite occurred only in the eastern sector of the Ryoke belt, including the Kinki District. 相似文献

A new fluorescent approach was developed to visualize grouting processes. The evaluation of the effect of grouting is carried out by methods based mainly on physical measurements such as permeability and porosity characteristics. However, these estimates do not necessarily correlate with practical grouting data. In this paper, the distributions of various grout mixtures containing fluorescent substances were clearly visualized under ultraviolet light, using a borehole television system or a microscope. Since this approach enabled direct observation of grout distribution, it is considered that this approach is useful for analysis of grouting mechanisms, designing grout curtains, etc. 相似文献

We investigate the photometric properties of six super stellar clusters (SSCs) seen in both the optical and near-infrared Hubble Space Telescope images of the local ultraluminous starburst galaxy Arp 220. Three of the SSCs are located in the central 0.5-kpc region. The remaining three are in the circumnuclear region between 0.5 and 2.5 kpc from the centre. Comparing the observed spectral energy distributions (SEDs) of the SSCs with the Starburst99 models of Leitherer et al., we confirm that all three nuclear SSCs are heavily obscured Considering the results from this comparison in conjunction with measurements of the near-infrared CO absorption index and of millimetre CO linewidths and luminosities, we estimate the ages of the nuclear SSCs to be 107 –108 yr. The bolometric luminosity of the three nuclear SSCs is at most one-fifth of the total bolometric luminosity of Arp 220. On the other hand, the circumnuclear SSCs have little internal extinction These contribute negligibly to the total bolometric luminosity. 相似文献

Five synthetic silica glasses have been prepared for microprobe determination of trace aluminium in quartz. The glasses were synthesized from tetraethoxysilane (TEOS) into which between 0 and 1431 μg g-1 aluminium had been doped. The aluminium concentrations of the glasses were independently determined by ICP-AES analysis. X-ray wavelength shift in the Al Kα peak was minimised relative to unknown quartz samples when these glasses were used for calibration. A set of these five glasses yielded a linear calibration line, and are available for trace aluminium analysis of quartz in routine microprobe systems. 相似文献

The Precambrian/Cambrian (PC/C) boundary is one of the most important intervals for the evolution of life, represented by prominent biological evolution from the first appearance of soft-bodied animals from the late Neoproterozoic to the sudden diversification of animals with mineralized skeletons in the Cambrian. In South China several areas contain many fossils and are well exposed, suitable for the investigation of PC/C boundary. However, geochronological relationships are still poorly known because of lack of combined detailed investigations of internal structures of zircons and in-situ U–Pb dating.We focus on the internal structure of zircons from a tuff layer within Bed 5 in the Meishucun section on which we undertook cathodoluminescence (CL) imaging and in-situ U–Pb dating with LA-ICP-MS and nano-SIMS. Over 600 zircons from the tuff layer were classified into three types based on their CL images: oscillatory rims, inherited cores and dull structures. U–Pb dating of the internal structure of the zircons by LA-ICP-MS clearly shows a distinct unimodal age population dependent on the structure: 531 ± 17 Ma for the oscillatory rims and 515 Ma for the dull structures. The clear oscillatory zonation, the prismatic morphology, and their occurrence indicate that the oscillatory rims were formed from felsic magmatism, and that the U–Pb nano-SIMS age of 536.5 ± 2.5 Ma records the depositional age of the tuff. Our results indicate that the PC/C boundary is situated below Bed 5, and therefore the bottom of Zone 1 (Marker A) is more appropriate for the PC/C boundary than is the top of Zone 1 (Marker B). The age of a positive anomaly (P2) in the early Cambrian is estimated to be ca. 536 Ma. 相似文献

Seasonal fluctuations of cell density of cyanobacteria and other picophytoplankton in Iwanai Bay,Hokkaido, Japan 总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
In Iwanai Bay, which is located on the Japan Sea coast in Hokkaido, seasonal fluctuations in cell densities of phycoerythrin-dominant cyanobacteria and chlorophyll-dominant, other picophytoplankton were examined. Cell densities of cyanobacteria and other picophytoplankton ranged from 1.4×105 to 1.9×108 and from 4.0×104 to 4.3×106 cells 1–1, respectively. The cell densities of both groups tended to increase after spring diatom bloom with remarkable fluctuations from June to August. This tendency was caused by the vertical distributions of both groups. The maximum density layer shifted from 0–20 m depth in April–June to 20–50 m depth in August–October. Cyanobacteria were dominant in picophytoplankton community which accounted for 73–99% of the total cell density during the whole year. On the basis of data on the statistical characteristics of individual waves in laboratory wind waves reported in part I of this series, a self-consistent similarity regime is found to exist among properties of the individual waves, such as the nondimensional frequency, the wave number, the phase speed, and the steepness. Also, it is shown that forms of past empirical formulas for the development of the peak wave can be derived starting from the 3/2-power law, as an extension of the persent laboratory experimental data. In the derivation, only values of the coefficient of the 3/2-power law, and the fraction of momentum transferred from the wind retained by the wind waves, remain on an empirical basis. 相似文献
