This paper presents an interpretation of the evolution of the vector magnetic field at the photosphere based on measurements of the advanced Stokes polarimeter, along with chromospheric H from the Lockheed instrument operating on La Palma and X-ray images of the corona from Yohkoh. These measurements are consistent with the emergence of a nearly closed magnetic structure from the solar interior into the corona. The highly non-potential field topology inferred from the data suggests that strong field-aligned currents exist in the emergent magnetic structure as it buoyantly rises through the photosphere. Material trapped in this closed structure is pulled upward to later condense into a prominence. By analogy of this small active region evolution with the observed properties of large quiescent prominences, we speculate that this process might also be operative on a much larger scale. A 3-dimensional magnetostatic model is presented which has many topological features in common with the observations.  相似文献

塔里木西部柯坪地区出露的早二叠纪玄武岩与盆地内其他地区广泛分布的玄武岩共同构成一个面积约0.25Mkm2的溢流玄武岩省。巴楚地区出露的早二叠纪辉绿岩、正长岩、石英正长岩与石英正长斑岩等多种岩浆岩构成了连续的基性-中性-酸性岩浆序列。野外露头观察表明,巴楚麻扎尔塔格地区的基性-中性-酸性岩浆岩为近同时侵位。柯坪塔格开派兹雷克组顶部层位玄武岩的锆石SHRIMP U-Pb年龄为279.0±4.5Ma, 该年龄值可限定该区二叠纪溢流玄武岩喷发的最晚时限。巴楚麻扎尔塔格石英正长斑岩脉的锆石SHRIMP U-Pb年龄为273.0±3.7Ma, 与前人测定的巴楚辉绿岩脉和正长岩的锆石年龄在误差范围内一致,表明巴楚地区的基性-中性-酸性岩浆岩为近同时侵位,时间在275Ma左右。综合已发表的塔里木二叠纪岩浆岩高精度年代数据,本文提出:整个塔里木大火成岩省岩浆作用的持续时间约为20Myrs; 291~287Ma喷发的巨量溢流玄武岩可能构成塔里木大火成岩省的主体,是地幔柱头部熔融的直接产物; 283~272Ma侵位的巴楚、一间房和塔北地区的其它类型岩浆岩体积较小,为塔里木大火成岩省晚期岩浆作用的产物。  相似文献

Here we present results from simulations of turbulence in star forming environments obtained by coupling three-dimensional hydrodynamical models with appropriate chemical processes. We investigate regimes of decaying high-speed molecular turbulence. Here we analyse PDFs of density for the volume, mass, molecular mass and the energy distribution over the range of scales. We compare our results to those previously obtained for isothermal turbulence and suggest possible explanations.  相似文献

Wetlands in south-eastern Australia and other arid regions of the world are experiencing increases in salinity due to dryland salinization and climate change. We investigated changes in wetland ecological function, measured as phytoplankton and benthic algal Chl a, over a large salinity gradient (0.047–226 mS cm−1) and in relation to several local water chemistry variables that may be important predictors of algal biomass. We investigated the relative importance of landscape variables that may affect input pollution and hydrology of wetlands at four spatial scales (100, 500, 1,000 and 5000 m). We explored the strength and form of the relationships between algal biomass and local and landscape predictors with emphasis on the effects of local and landscape salinity. We found local variables were more important than landscape variables in influencing algal biomass. We also found salinity of wetlands was not a good predictor of phytoplankton biomass but it did predict benthic algal biomass.  相似文献

Evapotranspiration (ET) is one of the main components of the hydrological cycle. It is a complex process driven mainly by weather parameters, and as such, is characterized by high non-linearity and non-stationarity. This paper introduces a methodology combining wavelet multiresolution analysis with a machine learning algorithm, the multivariate relevance vector machine (MVRVM), in order to predict 16 days of future daily reference evapotranspiration (ETo). This methodology lays the ground for forecasting the spatial distribution of ET using Landsat satellite imagery, hence the choice of 16 days, which corresponds with the Landsat overpass cycle. An accurate prediction of daily ETo is needed to improve the management of irrigation schedules as well as the operations of water supply facilities like canals and reservoirs. In this paper, various wavelet decompositions were performed and combined with MVRVM to develop hybrid models to predict ETo over a 16-days period. These models were compared to a MVRVM model, and models accuracy and robustness were evaluated. The addition of 10 days of forecasted air temperature as additional inputs to the forecasting models was also investigated. The results of the wavelet-MVRVM hybrid modeling methodology showed that a reliable forecast of ETo up to 16 days ahead is possible.  相似文献

This paper follows up on the conclusion by Craig and Sneyd (2005) that the solutions to a linearized magnetostatic problem are counterexamples to the magnetostatic model of Parker (1972), demonstrating a general absence of continuous equilibrium for a magnetic field with an arbitrarily prescribed topology. The analysis presented here shows that Craig and Sneyd had incorrectly rejected an important subset of those solutions in a misunderstanding of the Parker model. The complete set of solutions when correctly interpreted is, in fact, physically consistent with the Parker model. A general discussion of the Parker theory of spontaneous current sheets is given.  相似文献

The power spectra of the daily peak electron content measured at Hawaii are estimated via covariance estimations, bivariate autoregressive estimations and fast Fourier transforms for a year of data close to minimum solar activity (1965) and a year of data close to maximum solar activity (1969). The strong peaks about 6 days and 15 days in the 1965 and 1969 power spectra, respectively, suggest an influence of the interplanetary magnetic sector structure on the electron content at low latitude (21·3°N, geographic). The daily solar flux (Sa) at 2800 MHz of 1965 and 1969 are analysed similarly. The decrease in energy content with period range of 3–7 days in the 1969 Sa power spectrum supports the above point of view.  相似文献

This article describes recent developments in the theoretical investigation of magnetostatic equilibrium in the presence of gravity, nonequilibrium in hydromagnetics, and classical problems in hydromagnetic stability. The construction of magnetostatic equilibria has progressed beyond geometrically idealized systems, such as the axisymmetric system, to fully three-dimensional systems capable of modelling realistic solar structures. Nonequilibrium in a magnetic field with an arbitrary interweaving of lines of force due to random footpoint motion is a novel and subtle property with important implications for the solar atmosphere. Work begun by Parker and subsequent developments are described. To the extent quasi-static solar structures are approximated by stable equilibrium, ideal hydromagnetic stability theory provides a first insight into how stability is achieved in the solar environment. A qualitative physical picture based on recent stability analyses is given. The article places emphasis on understanding basic principles and issues rather than detailed results which can be found in the published literature.The National Center for Atmospheric Research is sponsored by the National Science Foundation.  相似文献

A method is prescribed for generating exact solutions of magnetostatic equilibrium describing a cylindrically symmetric magnetic flux tube oriented vertically in a stratified medium. Given the geometric shape of the field lines, compact formulae are presented for the direct calculation of all the possible distributions of pressure, density, temperature and magnetic field strength compatible with these field lines under the condition of static equlibrium. The plasma satisfies the ideal gas law and gravity is uniform in space. A particular solution is obtained by this method for a medium sized sunspot whose magnetic field obeys the similarity law of Schlüter and Temesváry (1958). With this solution, it is possible for the first time to illustrate explicitly the confinement of the magnetic field of the cool sunspot by the hotter external plasma in an exact relationship involving both magnetic pressure and field tension as well as the support of the weight of the plasma by pressure gradients. It is found that the cool region of the sunspot is not likely to extend much more than a few density scale heights below the photosphere. The sunspot field approaches being potential in the neighbourhood of the photosphere so that the Lorentz force exerting on the photosphere is less than what the magnetic pressure would suggest. This accounts for how the sunspot field can be confined in the photosphere where its magnetic pressure is often observed to even exceed the normal photospheric pressure.
