Lattice preferred orientations (LPO) developed in perovskite and post-perovskite structured CaIrO3 were studied using the radial X-ray diffraction technique combined with a diamond anvil cell. Starting materials of each phase were deformed from 0.1 MPa to 6 GPa at room temperature. Only weak LPO was formed in the perovskite phase, whereas strong LPO was formed in the post-perovskite phase with an alignment of the (010) plane perpendicular to the compression axis. The present result suggests that the (010) is a dominant slip plane in the post-perovskite phase and it is in good agreement with the crystallographic prediction, dislocation observations via transmission electron microscopy, and a recent result of simple shear deformation experiment at 1 GPa–1,173 K. However, the present result contrasts markedly from the results on MgGeO3 and (Mg,Fe)SiO3, which suggested that the (100) or (110) is a dominant slip plane with respect to the post-perovskite structure. Therefore it is difficult to discuss the behavior of the post-perovskite phase in the Earth’s deep interior based on existing data of MgGeO3, (Mg,Fe)SiO3 and CaIrO3. The possible sources of the differences between MgGeO3, (Mg,Fe)SiO3 and CaIrO3 are discussed.  相似文献

In situ X-ray diffraction measurements of Fe- and Al-bearing MgSiO3-rich perovskite (FeAl-Pv), which was synthesized from a natural orthopyroxene, were performed at pressures of 19–32 GPa and temperatures of 300–1,500 K using a combination of a Kawai-type apparatus with eight sintered-diamond anvils and synchrotron radiation. Two runs were performed using a high-pressure cell with two sample chambers, and both MgSiO3 perovskite (Mg-Pv) and FeAl-Pv were synthesized simultaneously in the same cell. Thus we were able to measure specific volumes (V/V 0) of Mg-Pv and FeAl-Pv at the same P−T conditions. At all the measurement conditions, values of the specific volume of FeAl-Pv are consistent with those of Mg-Pv within 2 Standard Deviation, strongly suggesting that effect of incorporation of iron and aluminum on the thermoelastic properties of magnesium silicate perovskite is undetectable in this composition, pressure, and temperature range. Two additional runs were performed using a high-pressure cell that has one sample chamber and unit-cell volumes of FeAl-Pv were measured at pressures and temperatures up to 32 GPa and 1,500 K, respectively. All the unit-cell volume data of FeAl-Pv perovskite were fitted to the high temperature Birch–Murnaghan equation of state and a complete set of thermoelastic parameters of this perovskite was determined with an assumption of K′ 300,0 = 4. The determined parameters are K 300,0 = 243(3) GPa, (∂K T,0/∂T) P = −0.030(8) GPa/K, a 0 = 2.78(18) × 10−5 K−1, and b 0 = 0.88(28) × 10−8 K−2, where a 0 and b 0 are the coefficients of the following expression describing the zero-pressure thermal expansion: α T,0 = a 0 + b 0 T. The equation-of-state parameters of FeAl-Pv are in good agreement with those of MgSiO3 perovskite at the conditions corresponding to the uppermost part of the lower mantle.  相似文献

The effect of silica concentration on the solubility of Al and Ti in diopsidic pyroxenes has been investigated at one atmosphere in the system diopside-CaTiAl2O6-SiO2 at temperatures between 1150–1420° C. The composition of pyroxene in the system diopside-CaTiAl2O6-SiO2 is influenced by the total SiO2 content. Near the join diopside-CaTiAl2O6, the pyroxene forms a solid solution with the CaTiAl2O6 molecule, and co-exists with perovskite for compositions greater than 11 weight percent CaTiAl2O6. Anorthite is an accompanying phase. With increasing total SiO2 content a series of mineralogical changes involving Ti-bearing phases occur. Sphene solid solution co-exists with diopside solid solution, anorthite, and perovskite in a small compositional range near the diopside-CaTiAl2O6 join. Additional total SiO2 results in the elimination of perovskite and a decrease of solid solution in the pyroxenes. With further increase in SiO2 content, tridymite appears and the pyroxene is approximately pure diopside. Rutile joins diopside, anorthite, sphene solid solution and tridymite over a broad compositional range in the Ti, Si-rich part of the system. These results demonstrate that increased silica concentration decreases the solubility of Al and Ti in diopsidic pyroxenes and controls the stability of co-existing Ti-bearing phases.  相似文献

The northeastern Japan forms a typical arcuate structure with a remarkable zonal arrangement of many geologic features, including the distribution of Quaternary volcanoes. Thus two distinct zones of volcanoes are noted here: i. e., Nasu zone on the east and Tyokai zone on the west. Some of the volcanoes of Nasu zone are characterized by the presence of pumice flows or pumice falls, sometimes of very large scales. These pumice flows belong to the calc-alkali rock series. While pumice flows or falls are rare in the Tyokai zone, where they are present though on small scale. Migration of the center of activity is noted along linear fissures, running either from east to west, or north to south at some volcanoes of Nasu zone, and consequently large swarms of volcanoes are common in this zone. While central eruption with definite center is typical of the Tyokai zone. From the petrographical and petrochemical study on the lavas and pyroclastics the original magma of the Nasu zone is estimated to be tholeiitic, and that of the Tyokai zone high-alumina basaltic. Abundant calc-alkali rocks are derived from these parental magmas. Thus the difference in the volcanic activity should be ascribed to the different nature of the parental magmas or the magmas derived from them.  相似文献

Phase relations in the system KAlSi3O8-NaAlSi 3O8 have been examined at pressures of 5–23 GPa and temperatures of 700–1200° C. KAlSi3O8 sanidine first dissociates into a mixture of wadeite-type K2Si4O9, kyanite and coesite at 6–7 GPa, which further recombines into KAlSi3O8 hollandite at 9–10 GPa. In contrast, NaAlSi3O8 hollandite is not stable at 800–1200° C near 23 GPa, where the mixture of jadeite plus stishovite directly changes into the assemblage of calcium ferrite-type NaAlSiO4 plus stishovite. Phase relations in the system KAlSi3O8-NaAlSi3O8 at 1000° C show that NaAlSi3O8 component gradually dissolves into hollandite with increasing pressure. The maximum solubility of NaAlSi3O8 in hollandite at 1000° C was about 40 mol% at 22.5 GPa, above which it decreases with pressure. Unit cell volume of the hollandite solid solution decreases with increasing NaAlSi3O8 component. The hollandite solid solution in this system may be an important candidate as a host mineral of K and Na in the uppermost lower mantle  相似文献

We measured the lattice thermal conductivities of Fe0.98O wüstite and iron-rich (Mg,Fe)O magnesiowüstite using the pulsed light heating thermoreflectance technique with a diamond anvil cell up to 61 GPa at 300 K. We found that the thermal conductivity of wüstite does not show a monotonic increase as a function of pressure, contrary to that of MgO periclase. Rocksalt (B1) to rhombohedral B1 transition is likely to induce an abnormal pressure response in the conductivity of wüstite. Our results also show that magnesiowüstite has a lower conductivity than that of MgO and FeO endmembers due to a strong iron impurity effect, which is well reproduced by a model considering phonon-impurity scattering in a binary solid solution.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

The Partial Factor Method (PFM) based on the Level 1 reliability design method was introduced in 2007 to the Technical Standards for Port and Harbour Facilities (TSPHF-2007) in Japan. After nearly 10 years of practical use of TSPHF-2007, the design standard has been revised based on requests from the practitioners who recommend the transition from the PFM to the Load Resistance Factor Design (LRFD). In this paper, we discuss the setting method of the target failure probability to determine the partial factors based on code calibration. Furthermore, we examine the impacts of implementing the LRFD concept to the TSPHF by taking the sliding and overturning of a gravity type quay wall as an example to represent port and harbour facilities. We found no practical difference in caisson width derived using the LRFD and the PFM, whereas the degree of matching of the target failure probability was somewhat more precise for the PFM. This finding indicates that the LRFD is a more reasonable design method than the PFM in terms of the simplicity of the performance function itself and the ease of engineering interpretation during the design procedure.  相似文献

Various synthetic compounds are frequently discharged into the environment via human activities. Among them, certain contaminants may disrupt normal physiological functions of wildlife and humans via interactions with nuclear receptors. To protect human health and the environment, it is important to detect environmental ligands for human nuclear receptors. In this study, yeast-based reporter gene assays were used to investigate the occurrence of xenobiotic ligands for retinoid X receptors (RXR) and thyroid hormone receptors (TR) in the aquatic environment of Taiwan. Experimental results revealed that RXR agonist/antagonist activity was detected in river water and sediment samples. In particular, high RXR agonist/antagonist activity was found in the samples collected near river mouths. Additionally, few samples also elicited significant TR antagonist activity. Our findings show that the aquatic environment of Taiwan was contaminated with RXR and TR ligands. Further study is necessary to identify these xenobiotic RXR and TR agonists and antagonists.  相似文献

To comprehensively understand the Arctic and Antarctic upper atmosphere, it is often crucial to analyze various data that are obtained from many regions. Infrastructure that promotes such interdisciplinary studies on the upper atmosphere has been developed by a Japanese inter-university project called the Inter-university Upper atmosphere Global Observation Network (1UGONET). The objective of this paper is to describe the infrastructure and tools developed by IUGONET. We focus on the data analysis software. It is written in Interactive Data Language (IDL) and is a plug-in for the THEMIS Data Analysis Software suite (TDAS), which is a set of IDL libraries used to visualize and analyze satellite- and ground-based data. We present plots of upper atmospheric data provided by IUGONET as examples of applications, and verify the usefulness of the software in the study of polar science. We discuss IUGONET's new and unique developments, i.e., an executable file of TDAS that can run on the IDL Virtual Machine, IDL routines to retrieve metadata from the IUGONET database, and an archive of 3-D simulation data that uses the Common Data Format so that it can easily be used with TDAS.  相似文献
