Artificial Neural Network (ANN) models were used to forecast precipitation. Three-layer back propagation ANNs were trained with actual monthly precipitation data from six Czech and four Hungarian meteorological stations for the period 1961-1998. The predicted amounts are the next month's precipitation. Summary Indirect phase reflection height measurements have been performed at the Panská Ves Observatory, Czechoslovakia, on two frequencies of 162 (earlier 164) and 153 kHz (earlier 155) for 30 years. However, they were used only for solar flare effect (SFA) monitoring. After introducing new measuring equipment in 1985, the quality of the 162 kHz records became sufficient to apply the indirect phase height analysis (IPHA) method in full. The method itself, the measuring equipment, and the method of evaluation are described in [1]. The purpose of this paper is to describe the first results and to verify the reliability of the 162 kHz IPHA data. The IPHA method as applied to the 162 kHz measurements made at Panská Ves, allows ionospheric and neutral atmospheric parameters to be studied simultaneously and appears to provide reliable and good quality data. The expected seasonal variation and response to sudden stratospheric warmings are observed. The use of the 162 kHz IPHA data in the international MAC/SINE and DYANA campaigns and for monitoring pressure variability at 80 km are briefly described. 相似文献

Summary The seismic activity of the region is analysed on the basis of the recent microseismic and former macroseismic observations. Only microearthquakes in the narrow magnitude range of 0–1.2 were monitored during 1982–1988. The mean annual frequencies are of the same order as the figures extrapolated from the magnitude-frequency relationship obtained for earthquakes in the magnitude range 2.4–4.5 which occurred in the region before 1910. Summary The paper discusses the obvious experimental relation between the laboratory determinations of total gamma-ray activity, expressed in equilibrium uranium concentration, and heat production due to radioactive decay. The heat production data were calculated by means of the concentrations of uranium, thorium and potassium determined spectrometrically, together with the conversion factors into the rate of heat generation. The obtained relation may help define the typical heat production for characteristic surface rocks and estimate their contribution in heat flow study. Between the gamma-ray activity recorded during aeroradiometric mapping and the laboratory radiometric measurements of surface rock samples, there is also an experimental relation, which can be used further in estimating the value of surface heat production at a chosen locality. 相似文献

Summary In order to obtain basic palaeomagnetic data on Upper Carboniferous, Permian and Triassic sediments collected from the NW Bulgaria, laboratory stability tests were extended from A.C. and thermal treatments to studies of mineral phase changes and to investigations of changes of magnetic anisotropy during laboratory procedures. Laboratory criteria were found which permitted to distinguish samples suitable for palaeomagnetic analyses from those representing rocks totally or almost totally chemically reworked during their history. Palaeomagnetic directions and pole positions derived from Stephanian, Lower Permian and Triassic rocks from the southern margin of the Moesian Platform are compatible with the values obtained for the tectonically stable North-European Platform. 相似文献

Summary In investigating the dynamic processes of the generation of stress waves in the nearest zone of seismic sources, questions concerned with their frequency pattern are very important. In this paper the frequency content of stress waves is expressed by the relative width of their amplitude spectrum. Measurements of stress waves close to a spherical explosive source in gravel-sandy soil, in loess, and in limestone have been realized earlier.
