Kefdag and Soridag chromite pods occur in upper mantle residual peridotites, which consist of harzburgite and dunites. The peridotites represent the residual of multistage, depleted upper-mantle peridotites. The chromitite bodies were formed during the uprising of chromium-rich picritic melts, through the residual upper mantle diapir, along the magma conduits. Chromitite grains were deposited in the caves of the magma conduits under the control of the convection currents. 相似文献

An extensive study of the IMP-6 and IMP-8 plasma and radio wave data has been performed to try to find electron plasma oscillations associated with type III radio noise bursts and low energy solar electrons. This study shows that electron plasma oscillations are seldom observed in association with solar electron events and type III radio bursts at 1.0 AU. In nearly four years of observations only one event was found in which electron plasma oscillations are clearly associated with solar electrons. Numerous cases were found in which no electron plasma oscillations with field strengths greater than 1 V/m could be detected even though electrons from the solar flare were clearly detected at the spacecraft.For the one case in which electron plasma oscillations are definitely produced by the electrons ejected by the solar flare, the electric field strength is very small, only about 100 V/m. This field strength is about a factor of ten smaller than the amplitude of electron plasma oscillations generated by electrons streaming into the solar wind from the bow shock. Electromagnetic radiation, believed to be similar to the type III radio emission, is also observed coming from the region of more intense electron plasma oscillations upstream of the bow shock. Quantitative calculations of the rate of conversion of the plasma oscillation energy to electromagnetic radiation are presented for plasma oscillations excited by both solar electrons and electrons from the bow shock. These calculations show that neither the type III radio emissions nor the radiation from upstream of the bow shock can be adequately explained by a current theory for the coupling of electron plasma oscillations to electromagnetic radiation. Possible ways of resolving these difficulties are discussed. 相似文献

Polarigraphic observations of the 7 March, 1970 eclipse were made at Miahuatlán (Mexico) with a camera of 120 cm focal length. A polarizing filter in front of the objective could be adjusted at 8 different positions, 22.5° apart. Reduction of eight photographs of the white light corona yields polarization at 72 position angles and from r = 1.1 up to 2.1. High polarization which cannot be explained with Thomson scattering was not observed. An analysation of the measuring accuracy shows, that it is not possible to determine exactly the direction of polarization in the outer corona with the classical method of measuring polarization with a small number of photographs. The coronal hole in the south-west quadrant is analysed. The intensities of 52 EUV emission lines from each of 9 hedgerow prominences observed at the limb with the Harvard experiment on ATM-Skylab have been compared with intensities from the interior of network cells at the center of the disk, in order to compare the prominence-corona (P-C) interface with the chromosphere-corona (C-C) transition region. prominence for each line varies systematically (in all of the prominences observed), with the temperature of formation of the line as T

977 implies an average density 1.3 × 109 electrons cm–3 in the P-C interface and 4 times this value in the C-C transition of the cells. The total optical thickness at the head of the Lyman continuum is 10 in most of the prominences studied; in two of the prominences, however, we cannot reject the possibility that o is large. Methods of analysis of these EUV data are developed assuming both a resolved and an unresolved internal prominence structure. Photographic photometry and spectroscopic observations of NGC 4575 suggest it to be a galaxy of reduced dimensionsD×d=14.4×13.5 kpc and of high luminosityM=–20.7. From filament observations at centimeter and millimeter wavelengths it is shown that the transition layer between the dense, cool filamentary material and the ambient hot, rarified corona is rather thin, of the order of some hundred kilometers. High precision center-limb spectrograms of the K i resonance doublet line at λ 7699 Å were used to study the line formation and to determine the abundance of potassium in the solar atmosphere. The LTE assumption is not valid for these lines. Synthetic profiles computed in NLTE reproduce very well the observed center-limb line behaviour and yield log? The radio emission of a selected number of solar active regions has been investigated with high angular resolution at two frequencies: 10 and 17 GHz. By comparing the results of the two observations the following conclusions can be drawn:
- The brightness temperature distribution of an active region is often composed of very bright cores of small dimension (angular extent θ?20″) imbedded in extended halos of lower brightness.
- The radio emission of such structures as well as the degree of polarization can be explained with a thermal process. The halos can originate by pure thermal bremsstrahlung while in the case of the very bright cores found at 10 GHz (brightness temperature T b?1–9 × 106K) the emission at the harmonics of the gyrofrequency is needed.

In this study we test if calcite shells of the common mussel, Mytilus edulis, contain barium in proportion to the water in which they grew. Similar to all bivalves analyzed to date, the [Ba/Ca]shell profiles are characterized by a relatively flat background [Ba/Ca]shell, interrupted by sharp [Ba/Ca]shell peaks. Previous studies have focused on these [Ba/Ca]shell peaks, but not on the background [Ba/Ca]shell. We show that in both laboratory and field experiments, there is a direct relationship between the background [Ba/Ca]shell and [Ba/Ca]water in M. edulis shells. The laboratory and field data provided background Ba/Ca partition coefficients (DBa) of 0.10 ± 0.02 and 0.071 ± 0.001, respectively. This range is slightly higher than the DBa previously determined for inorganic calcite, and slightly lower than foraminiferal calcite. These data suggest that M. edulis shells can be used as an indicator of [Ba/Ca]water, and therefore, fossil or archaeological M. edulis shells could be used to extend knowledge of estuarine dissolved Ba throughputs back in time. Moreover, considering the inverse relationship between [Ba/Ca]water and salinity, background [Ba/Ca]shell data could be used as an estuary specific indicator of salinity. The cause of the [Ba/Ca]shell peaks is more confusing, both the laboratory and field experiments indicate that they cannot be used as a direct proxy of [Ba/Ca]water or phytoplankton production, but may possibly be caused by barite ingestion. 相似文献

Silica-rich objects are common minor components in ordinary chondrites (OC), occurring as fragments and as chondrules. Their typical paragenesis is orthopyroxene + SiO2 (with bulk SiO2 >65 wt%) and occasionally with additional olivine and/or spinel. Individual silica-rich components (SRC) have previously been studied in various types of OCs, although there is only one comprehensive study of these objects by Brigham et al. [Brigham, C.A., Murrell, M.T., Yabuki, H., Ouyang, Z., El Goresy, A., 1986. Silica-bearing chondrules and clasts in ordinary chondrites. Geochim. Cosmochim. Acta 50, 1655-1666]. Several different explanations of how SRCs formed have been published. The main question is how silica-enrichment was achieved, because CI-chondritic atomic Mg/Si-ratio is 1.07 and as a consequence only olivine and pyroxene, but no free silica should be stable. There are two basic possibilities for the SiO2-enrichment: (1) a RedOx-mechanism or magmatic fractionation on the parent body and (2) fractional condensation or recycling of chondrule mesostasis in the solar nebula. To better constrain the origin of these objects, we measured major and rare earth elements in SRCs of various types of ordinary chondrites, and in addition, we studied silica polymorphism in these objects using an in situ micro-Raman technique. Bulk chondrule compositions define mixing lines between the compositions of olivine and pyroxene. The SRCs extend these lines to an SiO2 end member. In contrast, magmatic trends grossly deviate from these mixing lines. Concentrations of CaO, Al2O3, and REE in the pyroxenes of the SRCs are low (0.01 to 1× CI) and the CI-normalized REE-patterns are virtually flat, typical of bulk chondrules, but untypical of magmatic trends. We therefore conclude that SiO2-rich objects are not of magmatic origin. They are the result of fractional condensation in the solar nebula. The silica in SRCs occurs mainly as tridymite and sometimes as cristobalite or—in very rare cases—as quartz. Some SiO2-phases yielded a yet unknown micro-Raman spectrum, which we were unable to identify. The often chondrule-like shape of SRCs as well as the presence of high-temperature SiO2-polymorphs lead to the following model for the origin of SRCs: formation of SiO2-rich precursors in the solar nebula by fractional condensation, reheating to temperatures between 1140 and >1968 K, thereby forming the SRCs,—probably during the chondrule-forming process—followed by rapid cooling. 相似文献
