We have studied three pairs of prominences, two of them clearly showing the effect of interaction by a dynamical plasma bridge. The other one was a superimposed optical pair which also showed, after being spectroscopically studied, the possible effect of interaction. We have calculated the atom density in the prominence and bridges, and applied the Goldberg-Unno method for the determination of Doppler-widths of the calcium H and K lines.  相似文献

An experimental air–ground climate station is operating in Pomquet, Nova Scotia, monitoring meteorological (surface air temperatures at three heights, wind velocity and direction, incoming solar radiation, precipitation, snow depth and relative humidity) and ground thermal variables (soil temperatures at depths of 0, 5, 10, 20, 50 and 100 cm). Readings are taken every 30 s and 5 min averages are stored, in order to characterize the energy exchanges at the air ground interface. Here, I report on the first year of operation. For spring, summer and fall, we find that soil temperatures track surface air temperatures with amplitude attenuation and phase lag with depth confirming that heat conduction adequately describe the soil thermal field at the Pomquet site. For winter conditions, we find that heat transfer is dominated by latent heat released during soil freezing and to a lesser extent by the insulating affect of snow cover. A numerical model of heat conduction was used in order to estimate the magnitude of the heat released by freezing during the winter months. I also show that there is an inverse correlation for the difference between soil (100 cm) and air temperatures and the incoming solar radiation at the site.  相似文献

Mass mortalities and breeding failures of seabirds in the Pacific Ocean have been directly or indirectly linked to local manifestations of the Southern Oscillation. Similar seabird mortalities have been reported in the Benguela upwelling system along the southern African coast. A Boolean factor analysis of binary data (occurrence vs. non-occurrence) showed that certain worldwide and southern African anomalous climatic events tended to co-occur in the same year, and that seabird mortalities and scarcities of small fish along the southern African coast occurred in either the same year, or the year before, the anomalous climatic events. The environmental conditions leading up to warm-water events in southern Africa appear as detrimental to seabird populations as the warm-water events themselves.  相似文献

Electric field gradient (EFG) measurements for Fe2+ in the cis- and trans-sites of a large single crystal of trioctahedral biotite of the lM polytype are described. Attempts to apply thickness and polarisation corrections are outlined. The measured EFG's are distinctly rhombic: = 0.28 and 0.42 respectively for the cis- and transsites and the EFG principal directions lie approximately along the crystallographic axes. For the cis-site V y lies close to the normal to the basal plane while for the transsite lies close to this direction.  相似文献

The Sr-Nd isotopic data for selected granitoids of the Central Bohemian Pluton show a broad negative correlation with the total range of (87Sr/86Sr)330 = 0.7051–0.7129 and Nd 330 = +0.2 to –8.9. The older intrusions have more depleted Sr-Nd compositions and calc-alkaline geochemistry (Sázava suite), whereas the younger intrusions shift towards K-rich calc-alkaline (Blatná suite) and shoshonitic rocks (íany and ertovo bemeno suites) with more evolved isotopic signatures. The distribution of the data is interpreted as reflecting a diversity of sources and processes, rather than a single progressive crustal contamination trend. The Sázava suite could have originated by partial melting of metabasites, or of a mantle source with an isotopic composition close to bulk earth, or by hybridization of crustally-derived tonalitic and mantle-derived magmas. Variation within the Blatná suite is modelled by mixing between a moderately enriched [(87Sr/86Sr)330 0.708, Nd 330 –3] mantle component with either an isotopically evolved metasedimentary component, or with more evolved magmas of the suite. The íany suite was most probably produced by partial melting of peraluminous lithologies, possibly of the adjacent Moldanubian unit. The ertovo bemeno suite evolved from strongly enriched mantle-derived magmas [(87Sr/86Sr)3300.7128, Nd 330 –7], either through closed-system fractional crystallization or interaction with magma corresponding to leucogranites of the Central Bohemian Pluton.  相似文献

Amarga Lagoon, lat. 50°29 S and long. 73°45 S, it is located at the Torres del Paine National Park, Chile. The physical, chemical, and biological features of the lake were studied. According to salinity, the lake is mesosaline. Sodium and chloride were the dominant ions. Nitrogen was potentially limiting for phytoplankton growth. One Cyanophyceae species andArtemia were the predominant species in the plankton.Artemia provided abundant food for flamingoes.  相似文献
