现代酸性矿山废水(AMD)环境被认为是地球早期环境的理想对应物.AMD的水环境具有金属含量高、pH低的特点,这与太古代-早元古代时期海洋的某些环境条件十分类似.然而,尽管AMD的环境条件恶劣,但仍然栖息着非常丰富的原核和真核微生物,在这其中那些嗜酸的、营光合作用的真核微生物类群(特别是Euglena mutabilis)更是引起众多科学家极大的研究兴趣.本文全面概述了在AMD环境中发现的真核微生物Euglenids种群的生物化学、生理学和生物地球化学特征,以及这些特征对于理解生命演化和早期地球环境条件等方面的指示性作用.Euglenids的细胞具备区域化功能,因而具备需氧和厌氧的蜡酯和甾醇的双生物合成途径,同时它们还可以形成生物膜,所有这些均使得Euglenids能够在早期地球极端恶劣的环境条件下生存并持续演化.在AMD酸性环境中发育的富铁叠层石、嗜酸微生物的脂类化合物及其碳同位素比值以及它们独特的生理和生化特征可用于阐述真核生物的演化、地球早期大气中氧气的产生、条带状富铁建造的形成以及地球早期的环境演化等.  相似文献

The Burmese Arc seismic activity is not uniform for its ∼ 1100 km length; only the Northern Burmese Arc (NBA) is intensely active. Six large earthquakes in the magnitude range 6.1–7.4 have originated from the NBA Benioff zone between 1954–2011, within an area of 200 × 300 km2 where the Indian plate subducts eastward to depths beyond 200 km below the Burma plate. An analysis on seismogenesis of this interplate region suggests that while the subducting lithosphere is characterized by profuse seismicity, seismicity in the overriding plate is rather few. Large earthquakes occurring in the overriding plate are associated with the backarc Shan-Sagaing Fault (SSF) further east. The forecasting performance of the Benioff zone earthquakes in NBA as forerunner is analysed here by: (i) spatial earthquake clustering, (ii) seismic cycles and their temporal quiescence and (iii) the characteristic temporal b-value changes. Three such clusters (C1–C3) are identified from NBA Benioff Zones I & II that are capable of generating earthquakes in the magnitude ranges of 7.38 to 7.93. Seismic cycles evidenced for the Zone I displayed distinct quiescence (Q1, Q2 and Q3) prior to the 6th August 1988 (M 6.6) earthquake. Similar cycles were used to forecast an earthquake (Dasgupta et al. 2010) to come from the Zone I (cluster C1); which, actually struck on 4 February 2011 (M 6.3). The preparatory activity for an event has already been set in the Zone II and we speculate its occurrence as a large event (M > 6.0) possibly within the year 2012, somewhere close to cluster C3. Temporal analysis of b-value indicates a rise before an ensuing large earthquake.  相似文献

The present study was conducted in Solan Forest Division of Himachal Pradesh covering an area of about 57,158 ha. The aim was to estimate and assess the temporal change in carbon stock of the Chil Working Circle, in two forest ranges of the Division, Solan and Dharampur, over the period of 1956-2011. The inventory data of the working plans of Solan Forest Division from 1956-1957, 1984-1985 and 2002- 2003 were used in the present study while field data for biomass estimation was collected for the year 2011. The results showed a declining trend in carbon stock over 1956-1984 period, however, an increasing trend over 1984-2002 was observed, which showed a further increase for the period 2002-2011. These fluctuating trends in the forest carbon stock can be related to increasing anthropogenic pressure on forests and the subsequent introduction of a ban on green felling envisaging efficient forest management, both of which affect the forest carbon pool significantly.  相似文献

Algorithms are derived for constructing five dimensional Kaluza-Klein cosmological space-times in the presence of a perfect fluid source in the framework of f(R,T) gravity theory proposed by Harko et al. (Phys. Rev. D 84:024020, 2011). Starting from the solution of Reddy et al. (Int. J. Theor. Phys 51:3222-3227, 2012b) some classes of new solutions are generated which correspond to accelerating models of the Universe. Charged dust grains of radiia≃3×10−6∼3×10−5 cm could be a help in understanding high energy particles in extensive air showers (EAS). It is suggested that the dust grains in the intergalactic medium may attain relatistic energy (≥1020 eV), and may be responsible for the apparent ‘bump’ in the energy spectrum. The relativistic and non-relativistic dust grains may help to understand the anomalies in the energy spectrum as regards the slope and intensity.  相似文献

Drift instabilities arising when accelerated protons are trapped in the intergalactic medium are examined. If α, the ratio of total (plasma + energetic particles) pressure and magnetic field pressure is larger than some value α?0.1 to 0.3, the magnetic trap is destroyed and protons are released into interstellar medium. If α<α*, the trapped protons exhibit gradient instability due to magnetic drift resonance. This ‘universal’ instability results in rapid development of strong Alfvén wave turbulence with small wavelengths transverse to the magnetic field. Particle diffusion due to the waves has a rather complicated character and appears to be weak as compared to quasilinear diffusion.  相似文献

Thermodynamic and chemographic modelling of complex reaction textures observed in Mg-Al-rich pelitic granulites is an important tool to unravel the P–T evolutionary history of high-grade rocks. In the Eastern Ghats Belt, India, several studies have been carried out on these fascinating aluminous granulites, and the results of these studies have revealed complex P–T–t histories (Dasgupta and Sengupta 1995; Sengupta et al. 1999; Rickers et al. 2001a, 2001b; Gupta et al. 1999; Dobmeier and Simmat 2002; Dobmeier and Raith 2003). In recent communication, Bhattacharya and Kar (2002) reported reaction textures from a suite of Mg-Al granulites from the Paderu area of the Eastern Ghats Belt. Combining the textural relations and thermodynamic calibration of some construed reactions, the authors have put forward a single phase metamorphic evolution of the area along a clockwise pressure–temperature trajectory. Combining the petrological features from the Paderu area with those reported from the Chilka Lake complex, the authors proposed a general tectonic model for the entire Eastern Ghats Belt. Incidentally, the rocks in and around Paderu have been studied in some detail by several other workers (Lal et al. 1987; Mohan et al. 1997; Sengupta et al. 1997). The purpose of this comment is to demonstrate that the conclusions made in the paper are inconsistent with the petrological features described in the text. Further, the thermodynamic treatment used in the paper has serious errors in many places, and hence, is often in complete disagreement with the existing experimental data and theoretical analyses on the Mg-Al-rich assemblages. There are also significant problems arising from the poor quality of the analytical database. Unfortunately, the authors cite only a few published works (mostly their own) ignoring many other relevant studies from this belt (cited above). The gross seismotectonic features for the Burmese-Andaman arc system which defines the northeast margin of the Indian plate are rather well known but variations in the subduction zone geometry along and across the arc and fault pattern within the subducting Indian plate have not been studied. Present workaims to study these by using seismicity data whose results are presented in the form of: (a) Lithospheric across-the-arc sections at about every 100–120 km (approximately one degree latitude apart) covering the 3500 km longBurmese-Andaman arc system, (b) a structure contour map showing the depth tothe top surface of the seismically active lithosphere and (c) interpretationof focal mechanism solutions for 148 Benioff zone earthquakes. Both penetrationdepth and the dip of the Benioff zone vary considerably along the arc in correspondence to the curvature of the fold-thrust belt which varies from concave to convex in different sectors of the arc. Several extensive `Hinge faults' that abut at high angles to the arc orientation, are inferred from aninterpretation of the structure contour map. Active nature of the hinge faultsis established in several areas by their association with earthquakes andcorroborated through fault plane solutions. At shallow level of the Benioffzone along these faults, focal mechanism solutions display left lateral strikeslip movement while at deeper levels reverse fault solutions are common.  相似文献

Charged dust grains of radiia3×10–63×10–5 cm may acquire relativistic energy (>1018 eV) in the intergalactic medium. In order to attain relativistic energy, dust grains have to move in and out (scattering) of the magnetic field of the medium. A relativistic grain of radiusa10–5 cm with Lorentz factor 103 approaching the Earth will break up either due to electrostatic charge or due to sputtering about 150100 km, and may scatter solar photons via a fluorescence process. Dust grains may also melt into droplets in the solar vicinity and may contribute towards observed gamma-ray bursts.  相似文献
