The newly-discovered Shiyaogou molybdenum deposit is located in the eastern Qinling metallogenic belt in central China. The deposit contains at least 152,000 t of Mo metal and bears typical porphyry-type features in terms of its concentric alteration zonation, quartz vein-hosted Mo mineralization, veining sequence and the spatial association with concealed granite porphyries. Re–Os isotope analyses of molybdenite from the deposit yield an ore-forming age of 132.3 ± 2.8 Ma. LA-ICP-MS U–Pb zircon dating of ore-related porphyries yields crystallization ages from 135 Ma to 132 Ma, indicating a temporal link between granitic magmatism and Mo mineralization. A population of captured magmatic zircons indicates another pulse of magmatism at ~ 143 Ma. A barren granite intrusion near the deposit gives a zircon U–Pb age of 148.1 ± 1.1 Ma. These magmatic activities were concurrent with the emplacement of the nearby Heyu granitic batholith, a largely ore-barren intrusive complex formed from ~ 148 Ma to ~ 127 Ma. Zircon Ce4 +/Ce3 + ratios of ore-related porphyries are obviously higher than those of contemporaneous barren granitoids, implying an affinity between Mo mineralization and highly oxidized magmas. Moreover, zircons from these granitoids overall have decreasing Ce4 +/Ce3 + ratios from 148 Ma to 132 Ma, reflecting decreasing oxygen fugacities during magma evolution. Available geological, radiometric and stable isotopic evidence suggests that the decrease of magma oxygen fugacity was probably associated with an increase of mantle contribution to granitic magmatism and metallogenesis, which probably gave rise to successive mineralization of Mo and Au in the eastern Qinling. The intense magmatic–metallogenic events in the eastern Qinling during Late Jurassic to Early Cretaceous times are interpreted as a response to the large-scale lithosphere thinning and subsequent asthenosphere upwelling beneath the eastern part of the North China Craton.  相似文献

Diabase dykes in Cihai, Beishan region, NW China are spatially and temporally associated with ‘Cornwall-type’ iron deposits. U–Pb dating of zircons from a diabase dyke using laser ablation inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (LA-ICP-MS) yields an age of 128.5 ± 0.3 Ma, indicating an Early Cretaceous crystallization age. Most of the diabases show low Mg-numbers, suggesting evolved magmas. The diabase dykes show typical ophitic or sub-ophitic textures, and are dominantly composed of phenocrysts of plagioclase (40–50%) and clinopyroxene (30–45%), with minor and varying amounts of biotite and hornblende (1–5%), and minor disseminated magnetite (∼5%). Their mineralogy reflects magma differentiation under relatively low oxygen fugacity conditions. The diabase dykes are characterized by minor variation in SiO2 (44.67–49.76 wt.%) and MnO (0.14–0.26 wt.%), but show a marked range of Al2O3 (10.66–14.21 wt.%), total Fe2O3 (9.52–13.88 wt.%), TiO2 (0.66–2.82 wt.%) and relatively high MgO (4.87–9.29 wt.%) with an Mg# value [atomic Mg/(Mg + Fe2+)] of up to 66. The Cihai diabases possibly experienced fractional crystallization of olivine + clinopyroxene and minor crustal contamination during the differentiation process. Prominent negative Nb, Ta and Ti anomalies suggest derivation from subduction-modified mantle. Furthermore, the rocks have relatively unradiogenic Sr- and Nd-isotopic ratios. These characteristics probably reflect partial melting of a subduction component in the source mantle lithosphere through heat input from an upwelling asthenospheric mantle. Such processes probably occurred within an extensional setting during the Early Cretaceous in the Beishan area. The iron-rich fluids were derived from deep sources, and the iron ores were concentrated through a convection cell driven by temperature gradients established by the intrusion of the diabase sills. The combined processes of subduction-related enrichment in the source, shallow depth of emplacement, and the involvement of large-scale circulation of basinal brines from an evaporitic source are inferred to have contributed to the formation of the ‘Cornwall-type’ mineralization in Cihai.  相似文献

The northwestern margin of the Junggar Basin is a transition zone between the Zaire-Hala'alate mountains and the Junggar Basin in West Junggar, which developed a large amount of volcanic rocks in the late Carboniferous. An investigation of the tectonic evolution of this area will be helpful for understanding the accretionary process of West Junggar. Here, we selected well-preserved drill core samples of andesite and andesitic tuff for detailed petrogenesis and geochemical studies, while high-quality seismic and resistivity prospecting cross-sections were also used to reveal the tectonic setting. Zircon U-Pb dating results of three andesite and andesitic tuff samples show that these rocks were erupted at ca. 312 Ma. The results of the geochemical and isotopic analyses of seven samples are characterized by relatively high MgO (1.84–5.52 wt%), Cr (26.19–246.61 ppm), Ni (16.53–82.85 ppm) contents, Ba/La (14.19–218.48) ratios, and high positive ɛHf(t) (+4.8 to +14.2) values, but low TiO2 (0.68–1.25 wt%) contents, FeOT/MgO (1.18–2.81), Sr/Y (5.63–27.40), and Th/Yb (0.19–2.18) ratios, which are similar to the Bieluagaxi sanukitoids of West Junggar. LREEs are enriched in all samples, while Nb and Ta are significantly depleted. All the evidence suggests the volcanics were most likely derived from partial melting of oceanic slab that was contaminated by the overlying mantle wedge during the magma ascent. The seismic and resistivity cross-sections show apparent southeastward-vergent imbricate thrust fault systems, implying northwestward subduction in the late Carboniferous. Together with previous studies and our geochemical and geophysical data, we suggest that the formation of these late Carboniferous volcanic rocks is probably related to a northwestward ridge subduction process.  相似文献

Extensive Early Cretaceous post-collisional igneous rocks, especially the large volume of granitoids developed in the Dabie orogen. Some of these granitic rocks are spatially, temporally, and genetically associated with economically important molybdenum deposits. The Tangjiaping large-scale (> 0.1 million ton) porphyry Mo deposit is located in the northwest of the Northern Dabie Complex unit. The Mo mineralization is mainly hosted in molybdenite-bearing quartz veinlets and stockworks in the Tangjiaping granite porphyry, which intruded into Proterozoic biotite-plagioclase gneiss and amphibole-plagioclase gneiss. Two alteration zones from the porphyry centre outwards and downwards can be recognized: (1) K-silicate alteration-silicification zone; (2) silicification-phyllic alteration zone. The Tangjiaping ore-bearing granite porphyry occurs as an individual stock with an outcrop of 0.4 km2. LA-ICP-MS zircon U-Pb dating of the Tangjiaping granite porphyry yields crystallization age of 115 ± 1 Ma, which is consistent with the molybdenite Re-Os age of the deposit given by previous studies. The Tangjiaping granitic rocks are metaluminous and belong to high-K calc-alkaline and shoshonitic series. They are relatively enriched in light rare earth elements and have moderately negative Eu anomalies. Geochemical and mineralogical characteristics indicate that the Tangjiaping granite is an A-type granite and was generated by partial melting of intermediate-felsic rocks at pressures of ca. 0.4–0.8 GPa. There are high initial 87Sr/86Sr ratios ranging from 0.707367 to 0.709410 and negative εNd(t) values varying from − 15.0 to − 14.2 for the Tangjiaping granite. In situ zircon Hf isotopic analyses show that the εHf(t) values of zircons from the Tangjiaping granite porphyry vary from − 17.0 to − 6.0. The geochemical data and Sr-Nd-Hf isotopes, coupled with the Neoproterozoic inherited zircon age (652 ± 21 Ma), indicate that the Tangjiaping granite porphyry was most likely derived from partial melting of the Northern Dabie gneiss with some relatively enriched mantle materials involved. The Tangjiaping Mo ore-forming granite porphyry was formed in an extensional setting. The Early Cretaceous asthenospheric upwelling might have played an important role in the formation of the approximately coeval Mo-bearing magmas in the Dabie orogen.  相似文献

The Zhifang Mo deposit is located in the northeastern Qinling Orogen along the southern margin of the North China Craton. The deposit represents a quartz-vein system hosted in the Mesoproterozoic Xiong'er Group volcanic rocks. We identify three hydrothermal stages (early, middle and late), characterized by veinlets of quartz–pyrite, quartz–molybdenite–pyrite–chalcopyrite–galena–sphalerite, and quartz–carbonate assemblages, respectively. Five molybdenite samples from the Zhifang deposit yield Re–Os ages ranging from 241.2 ± 1.6 Ma to 247.4 ± 2.5 Ma, with an isochron age of 246.0 ± 5.2 Ma (2σ, MSWD = 7.4), and a weighted mean age of 243.8 ± 2.8 Ma (2σ, MSWD = 5.5). The Re–Os age shows that the Mo mineralization occurred during the Indosinian Orogeny, and suggests that the mineralization is unrelated to the Yanshanian magmatism or the Paleo-Mesoproterozoic volcanic–hydrothermal event. This study also reports a new Sr–Nd–Pb isotope dataset from ore sulfides in an attempt to constrain the source of the ore-forming fluids. Ten sulfide samples from middle stage of the Zhifang Mo deposit yield ISr(t) ratios of 0.710286–0.711943, with an average of 0.711004; εNd(t) values between − 19.5 and − 14.8, with an average of − 16.7; and (206Pb/204Pb)i, (207Pb/204Pb)i and (208Pb/204Pb)i ratios of 17.126–17.535, 15.374–15.466 and 37.485–37.848, with averages of 17.380, 15.410 and 37.631, respectively. One pyrite from the early stage yield ISr(t) of 0.722711–0.722855, with an average of 0.722783, which is higher than those of the middle stage sulfides and suggests equilibration with wallrocks. The εNd(t) values are in the range of − 17.3 to − 16.6 with a mean at − 17.0; and (206Pb/204Pb)i, (207Pb/204Pb)i and (208Pb/204Pb)i ratios are 17.386, 15.405 and 37.622, respectively. The ore sulfides show higher Pb-isotope ratios, higher εNd(t) and lower ISr(t) values than the host rocks. The results suggest that the ore-forming fluids had lower ISr(t), and higher εNd(t) values than the ore sulfides, and were possibly sourced from the Dengfeng Complex. The southward subduction of the North China Craton beneath the Huaxiong Block during the Triassic was possibly responsible for the formation of the Waifangshan orogenic Mo system.  相似文献

In this review, we describe the geological characteristics and metallogenic–tectonic origin of Fe deposits in the Altay orogenic belt within the Xinjiang region of northwestern China. The Fe deposits are found mainly within three regions (ordered from northwest to southeast): the Ashele, Kelan, and Maizi basins. The principal host rocks for the Fe deposits of the Altay orogenic belt are the Early Devonian Kangbutiebao Formation, the Middle to Late Devonian Altay Formation, with minor occurrences of Lower Carboniferous and Early Paleozoic metamorphosed volcano-sedimentary rocks. The principal mineral-forming element groups of the deposits are Fe, Fe–Cu, Fe–Mn, Fe–P, Fe–Pb–Zn, Fe–Au, and Fe–V–Ti. The Fe deposits are associated with distinct formations, such as volcanic rocks, skarn deposits, pegmatites, granite-related hydrothermal vein mineralization, and mafic pluton-related V–Ti-magnetite deposits. The Fe deposits are most commonly associated with volcanic rocks in the upper Kangbutiebao Formation, in the volcano-sedimentary Kelan Basin, and in skarn deposits at several localities, including the lower Kangbutiebao Formation in the volcano-sedimentary Maizi Basin, and the Altay Formation at Jiaerbasidao–Kekebulake region. Homogenization temperatures of fluid inclusions in the prograde, retrograde and sulfide stages of the skarn type deposit are mainly medium- to high-temperature (cluster between 200 and 500 °C), medium-temperature (cluster between 200 and 340 °C) and low- to medium temperature (cluster between 160 and 300 °C), respectively. Ore fluids in the sedimentation period in the volcano-sedimentary type deposit are characterized by low- to medium temperature (with a peak around 190 °C), low to moderate salinity (3.23 to 22.71 wt.% NaCl equiv). Ore fluids in the pegmatite type deposit are characterized by low- to medium temperature (with a peak at 240 °C), low salinity (with a peak around 9 wt.% NaCl equiv). An analysis of the isotopic data for Fe deposits from the Altay orogenic belt indicates that the sulfur was derived from several sources, including volcanic rocks and granite, as well as bacterial reduction of sulfate from seawater. The present results indicate that different deposit types were derived from various sources. The REE geochemistry of rocks and ores from the Fe deposits in the Altay orogenic belt suggests that the ore-forming materials were derived from mafic volcanic rocks. Based on isotopic age data, the timing of the mineralization can be divided into four broad intervals: Early Devonian (410–384 Ma), Middle Devonian (377 Ma), Early Permian (287–274 Ma), and Early Triassic (c. 244 Ma). The ore-forming processes of the Fe deposits are closely related to volcanic activity and the emplacement of intermediate and felsic intrusions. We conclude that Fe deposits within the Altay orogenic belt developed in a range of tectonic settings, including continental arc, post-collisional extensional settings, and intracontinental settings.  相似文献
