This letter is concerned with the undrained bearing capacity of rectangular footings with various aspect ratios and embedment ratios in uniform clay. It covers thin plate foundations with low aspect ratios and high embedment depth with embedment ratio up to 150. The work is based on small strain finite element analysis (FEA). After verification of the FEA model against existing solutions of the bearing capacity factors of rectangular footings, a series of FEA results are obtained. Based on the FEA results, a simple formulation is proposed to calculate the bearing capacity factor for rectangle footing with different aspect ratio in any embedment depth, extending the existing solutions to cover a wider ranges of footing aspect ratios and embedment ratios.  相似文献

It is understood that sample size could be an issue in earthquake statistical studies, causing the best estimate being too deterministic or less representative derived from limited statistics from observation. Like many Bayesian analyses and estimates, this study shows another novel application of the Bayesian approach to earthquake engineering, using prior data to help compensate the limited observation for the target problem to estimate the magnitude of the recurring Meishan earthquake in central Taiwan. With the Bayesian algorithms developed, the Bayesian analysis suggests that the next major event induced by the Meishan fault in central Taiwan should be in Mw 6.44±0.33, based on one magnitude observation of Mw 6.4 from the last event, along with the prior data including fault length of 14 km, rupture width of 15 km, rupture area of 216 km2, average displacement of 0.7 m, slip rate of 6 mm/yr, and five earthquake empirical models.  相似文献

In this paper, we present a complete morphological characterization of the ash particles erupted on 18 December 2002 from Etna volcano, Italy. The work is based on the acquisition and processing of bidimensional digital images carried out by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) to obtain shape parameters by image analysis. We measure aspect ratio (AR), form factor (FF), compactness (CC), and rectangularity (RT) of 2065 ash particles with size between 0.026 and 1.122 mm. We evaluate the variation of these parameters as a function of the grain-size. Ash particles with a diameter of <0.125 mm vary from mostly equant to very equant, ash particles between 0.125 and 0.250 mm have an intermediate shape, and particles with diameters >0.250 mm are subelongate. We find that, on average, particles with a diameter of <0.250 mm are subrounded, particles between 0.250 and 0.50 mm are subangular, and particles >0.50 mm are angular. Using this morphological analysis and an empirical relation between the drag coefficient (C D) and Reynolds number (R e) of Wilson and Huang (Earth Planet Sci Lett 44:311–324, 1979), we calculate the terminal settling velocities (V WH). The comparisons between these velocities and those calculated with the formula of Kunii and Levenspiel (Fluidization engineering. Wiley, New York, pp 97, 1969) (V KL), which considers ash particles as spheres, show that V KL are in average 1.28 greater than V WH. Hence, we quantify the systematic error on the spatial distribution of the mass computed around the volcano carried out by tephra dispersal models when the particles are assumed to be spherical.  相似文献

重力勘探中复杂条件下的三维正演计算量大存储要求高,使得这种条件下重力勘探高效、精细正反演变得困难.针对这一问题,提出一种空间-波数混合域数值模拟方法,该方法将空间域引力位积分进行水平方向二维傅里叶变换,将三维空间域卷积问题转换为多个不同波数之间相互独立的空间垂向一维积分问题,一维积分垂向可离散为多个单元积分之和,每个单元采用二次形函数表征密度变化,可得出单元积分的解析表达式.该方法计算量和存储需求少,算法高度并行;保留垂向为空间域,优势之一在于可根据实际情况合理调整单元疏密程度,准确模拟任意复杂地形和密度异常体的重力异常,兼顾计算精度与计算效率;优势之二在于用形函数拟合求得积分的解析解,计算精度和效率高;充分利用一维形函数积分的高效和高精度,不同波数之间一维积分高度并行性及快速傅里叶变换的高效性,实现重力异常场三维数值模拟.设计棱柱体模型,通过数值解和解析解对比验证了该方法的正确性、适用性和高效性.针对任意复杂地形条件下的重力场及其张量的模拟问题,提出一种快速算法,对其有效性进行了验证.探究标准FFT法的截断效应对计算精度的影响,对比分析Gauss-FFT法和标准FFT扩边法两种方法的计算精度和效率,总结了二者的选取策略,结果表明选用标准FFT扩边法计算效率更高.实际地形的数值模拟表明本文算法适用于任意复杂地形的高效计算.  相似文献

The accurate estimation of leaf water content (LWC) and knowledge about its spatial variation are important for forest and agricultural management since LWC provides key information for evaluating plant physiology. Hyperspectral data have been widely used to estimate LWC. However, the canopy reflectance can be affected by canopy structure, thereby introducing error to the retrieval of LWC from hyperspectral data alone. Radiative transfer models (RTM) provide a robust approach to combine LiDAR and hyperspectral data in order to address the confounding effects caused by the variation of canopy structure. In this study, the INFORM model was adjusted to retrieve LWC from airborne hyperspectral and LiDAR data. Two structural parameters (i.e. stem density and crown diameter) in the input of the INFORM model that affect canopy reflectance most were replaced by canopy cover which could be directly obtained from LiDAR data. The LiDAR-derived canopy cover was used to constrain in the inversion procedure to alleviate the ill-posed problem. The models were validated against field measurements obtained from 26 forest plots and then used to map LWC in the southern part of the Bavarian Forest National Park in Germany. The results show that with the introduction of prior information of canopy cover obtained from LiDAR data, LWC could be retrieved with a good accuracy (R2 = 0.87, RMSE = 0.0022 g/cm2, nRMSE = 0.13). The adjustment of the INFORM model facilitated the introduction of prior information over a large extent, as the estimation of canopy cover can be achieved from airborne LiDAR data.  相似文献

为分析形状对气溶胶粒子散射特性的影响,采用T矩阵法计算了0.633μm波段(自然光)不同种类、形状的气溶胶单粒子与体散射的散射相函数,并讨论了气溶胶粒子形状畸变与等效Mie散射误差的变化规律。结果表明:粒子形状畸变对气溶胶粒子散射能量空间分布影响较大。对于单粒子,各散射角上的等效Mie散射误差并不随粒子形状畸变程度单调变化。从相对误差量级上看,形状畸变对180°散射的影响强于0°,对35°的散射影响相对较弱。对于两种非球形粒子等效方法,等表面积法优于等体积法。不同类型的非球形气溶胶粒子体散射存在显著差异,沙尘性与海洋性的等效Mie散射误差明显大于煤烟性与可溶性粒子;对于同一种气溶胶,形状的改变对侧向与后向散射影响显著,对前向散射影响不大。  相似文献
