Model atmosphere analysis, based on Kurucz models has been applied to study the F6V star π3 Ori (=BS1543=HD30652). The following values of the effective temperature, surface gravity and microturbulence velocity were
obtained: = 6270±200 K, log g = 3.80.2, ξt =3.5±0.5 km/s. The abundances of 10 elements were determined. The resulting element abundances for the π3
Ori were found to be about three times lower with respect to the Sun. From evolutionary calculations we derived a mass, radius
and luminosity for π3
Ori of M =1.3 M⊙, R =2.38 R⊙, L =7.9 L⊙. Hence this star should be classified F6IV instead of F6 V.

Larvae of five species of sessile barnacles were found to be common within 4 miles of Port Erin, Isle of Man. These are Balanus balanoides, B. crenatus, B. balanus, B. hameri and Verucca stroemia. Larvae of other recorded species were very rare or absent.The major larval release of all the common species occurred in late winter and spring, but V. stroemia continued to breed throughout most of the year, and there was some evidence of autumn breeding of B. crenatus on a very small scale. The major release of nauplii by most of these species occurred at the time of the spring diatom outburst.The larval life of each of the four species of Balanus is estimated to last 3–5 weeks, that of V. stroemia 7–8 weeks.Some observations suggested that the larval release of B. balanoides may be stimulated by spring tides, but other observations seemed to contradict this. Current models and observations of variability in HgMn stars disagree.We present here the models that argue for pulsating HgMn stars with properties similar to those of SlowlyPulsating B Stars. Quantitative sampling of the dominant intertidal epibiota was conducted seasonally along an estuarine gradient within the Great Bay Estuary System, New Hampshire, U.S.A. The abundance and zonation of the dominant macroorganisms varied with distance into the estuary. Replacement of marine by estuarine species occurred, and overall abundance and species richness decreased along the estuarine gradient. Zonation patterns within the inner estuary were primarily allied with substrata. Maximum abundance of invertebrates occurred in the mid-intertidal zone where a dense fucoid canopy provided habitat heterogeneity. Densities of epibiotic organisms decreased toward low water, especially in the inner estuary where hard substratum was limiting. Settlement blocks, introduced into the low intertidal zone, were dominated by barnacles and fucoid algae; after 16 months, the species composition on the settlement blocks resembled the adjacent community. Semibalanus balanoides settled in the spring, while Fucus vesiculosus var. spiralis exhibited low but constant settlement. Despite the physical rigors of the estuarine environment, only Semibalanus balanoides, Ilyanassa obsoleta and Spartina alterniflora showed significant seasonal changes in density. Thus, there are predictable and persistent epibiotic species assemblages within the intertidal zone of the Great Bay Estuary System. 相似文献

This paper presents a detailed study on the textural and geochemical characteristics of the proglacial sediments near the edge of modern Nelson Ice Cap, Antarctica. The grain size distributions of the proglacial sediments are characteristic of glacigenic deposits, but very different from those of aeolian and lacustrine sediments. Moreover, the grain size distributions of the proglacial sediments are fractal with a dimension of about 2.9, and the fractal dimensions can be used as another summary statistical parameter for quantifying the relative amounts of coarse and fine materials. Correlations between the absolute element abundances of the proglacial sediments are very weak due to mineral partitioning and other effects of glacial processes, but correlations between the element/Rb ratios are statistically significant. We suggest a technique to determine the chemical and mineral composition of the lunar surface using artificial neural networks (ANNs). We demonstrate this powerful non-linear approach for prognosis of TiO2 abundance using Clementine UV-VIS mosaics and Lunar Soil Characterization Consortium data. The ANN technique allows one to study correlations between spectral characteristics of lunar soils and composition parameters without any restrictions on the character of these correlations. The advantage of this method in comparison with the traditional linear regression method and the Lucey et al. approaches is shown. The results obtained could be useful for the strategy of analyzing lunar data that will be acquired in incoming lunar missions especially in case of the Chandrayaan-1 and Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter missions. 相似文献

Spectral observations of Ap-CP stars with the BTA (Special Astronomical Observatory, Russian Academy of Sciences) using the
NES echelle spectrometer have revealed several stars with an anomalous lithium abundance. The oscillating star HD 12098, which
is the first roAp star in the northern hemisphere of the sky, merits special attention. Strong, variable LiI 6708 Å line was
observed in the spectrum of this star. There are not enough observations for a reliable analysis by Doppler mapping, but there
are enough to indicate the presence of lithium spots on the surface of this star similar to the roAp stars HD 83368 and HD
60435, on whose surfaces spots with a high lithium abundance have been reliably detected. Parameters for a model of its atmosphere
have been chosen using the method of synthetic spectra based on atmospheric models including lines from the VALD list and
several additional blended REE lines calculated by the authors. The profile of the lithium LiI 6708 Å blend has been calculated
taking the magnetic field into account using the SYNTHM code. A lithium abundance has been determined for two phases of the
rotation of HD 12098 that is anomalously high compared to the solar and meteoritic abundances. The large difference in the
lithium abundance in the two phases (in two different regions on the star's surface) exceeds 0.5 dex and is very close to
that which we have found by analyzing the spectra of the roAp stars HD 83368 and HD 60435. Thus, we have discovered yet another
roAp star, HD 12098, with lithium spots on its surface.
