This paper deals with the study of axisymmetric wave propagation in various acoustic/porous stratified media coupling configurations. It presents the theoretical developments of a semi-analytical method, its validation for a limit test-case half-space ground, and an extension to a realistic multilayered seabed, when spherical waves are emitted from a transient point source in water.  相似文献

In the conventional analysis of Biot’s axisymmetric consolidation, the solid phase and the surrounding fluid were often assumed incompressible for simplicity. Such assumption in soil engineering ignored the effect of compressibility of constituents on the consolidation. In this article, the compressible fluid and solid in soil were taken into account for 3-D consolidation. The pore pressure, the displacements, and the stresses were expressed by two displacement functions, and the Laplace–Hankel transform was applied to set up the stiffness matrix between the generalized displacement and stress. The stiffness matrix consisted of negative exponential functions, ensuring that the computation is efficient and stable. Then the global stiffness matrix is extended by embracing the continuity of the interfaces and boundary conditions of soil base. The relationship between the generalized displacement and stress of the soil base reduces the number of unknowns of the global matrix. Such consideration reduced the number of unknowns of the global matrix and brought in more acceptable boundary conditions where the stiffness and the permeability of semi-infinite soil base can be taken into account. After the inversion of the Laplace–Hankel transform, the real solutions were obtained. The results show that the stiffness and permeability of the soil base can change the development consolidation and that the compressibility of solid particles has a great effect on the settlement in the beginning of consolidation.  相似文献

The paper provides a detailed analysis for the second-order diffraction of monochromatic waves. For the second-order potential on the free surface, the paper proposed a forward prediction method for computing the integration on the free surface. By this method we only need to run the infinity integration on the free surface directly for a few points; a one-step quadrature can then be applied successively outward from the body for potentials at other points. For wave diffraction from a body of revolution with a vertical axis, the paper derives a new integral equation, which can cancel the leading singularity in the derivative of ring Green's functions automatically. To obtain accurate results, different approaches are also used to deal with singularities in the ring Green's functions in the integration on both the body surface and free surface. The method has been implemented for bodies of revolution with vertical axes, but the theory is also available for arbitrary bodies.A numerical examination is made to validate the numerical code by comparing the second-order forces and moments on uniform and truncated cylinders and second-order diffraction potentials on the free surface with some published results. The comparison shows that the present results are in good agreement with those published. The method is also used to compute the second-order wave elevation around uniform and truncated cylinders.  相似文献

In modeling of many geomechanics problems such as underground openings, soil-foundation structure interaction problems, and in wave propagation problems through semi-infinite soil medium the soil is represented as a region of either infinite or semi-infinite extent. Numerical modeling of such problems using conventional finite elements involves a truncation of the far field in which the infinite boundary is terminated at a finite distance. In these problems, appropriate boundary conditions are introduced to approximate the solution of the infinite or semi-infinite boundaries as closely as possible. However, the task of positioning the finite boundary in conventional finite element discretization and the definition of the boundary and its conditions is very delicate and depends on the modeller's skill and intuition. Moreover, such a choice is influenced by the size of the domain to be discretized. Consequently, the dimensions of the global matrices and the time required for solution of the problem will increase considerably and also selection of the arbitrary location of truncated boundary may lead to erroneous result. In order to over come these problems, mapped infinite elements have been developed by earlier researchers (Simoni and Schrefier, 1987). In the present work the applicability of infinite element technique is examined for different geomechanics problems. A computer program INFEMEP is developed based on the conventional finite element and mapped infinite element technique. It is then validated using selected problems such as strip footing and circular footing. CPU time taken to obtain solutions using finite element approach and infinite element approach was estimated and presented to show the capability of coupled modeling in improving the computational efficiency. Mesh configurations of different sizes were used to explore the enhancement of both computational economy and solution accuracy achieved by incorporation of infinite elements to solve elastic and elasto-plastic problems in semi-infinite/finite domain as applied to geotechnical engineering. © Rapid Science Ltd. 1998  相似文献

Extensive use of autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs) in oceanographic applications necessitates investigation into the hydrodynamic forces acting over an AUV hull form operating under deeply submerged condition. This paper presents a towing tank-based experimental study on forces and moment on AUV hull form in the vertical plane. The AUV hull form considered in the present program is a 1:2 model of the standard hull form Afterbody1. The present measurements were carried out at typical speeds of autonomous underwater vehicles (0.4-1.4 m/s) by varying pitch angles (0-15°). The hydrodynamic forces and moment are measured by an internally mounted multi-component strain gauge type balance. The measurements were used to study variation of axial, normal, drag, lift and pitching moment coefficients with Reynolds number (Re) and angle of attack. The measurements have also been used to validate results obtained from a CFD code that uses Reynolds Average Navier-Stokes equations (ANSYS™ Fluent). The axial and normal force coefficients are increased by 18% and 195%; drag, lift and pitching moment coefficients are increased by 90%, 182% and 297% on AUV hull form at α=15° and Rev=3.65×105. These results can give better idea for the efficient design of guidance and control systems for AUV.  相似文献

Axisymmetric consolidation of a poroelastic soil layer with a compressible fluid constituent induced by groundwater drawdown was studied based on Biot’s axisymmetric consolidation theory. Laplace and Hankel transforms were employed to solve the governing equation. Explicit analytical solutions are obtained in the Laplace–Hankel transform domain when groundwater drawdown is induced by a constant pumping well. Based on the solutions, numerical computations were performed to study the influences of the compressibility of the fluid constituent on the consolidation behavior of the soil layer.  相似文献

Abstract

It is found that the ideal magnetohydrodynamic equilibrium of an axisymmetric gravitating magnetically confined plasma with incompressible flows is governed by a second-order elliptic differential equation for the poloidal magnetic flux function containing five flux functions coupled with a Poisson equation for the gravitation potential, and an algebraic relation for the pressure. This set of equations is amenable to analytic solutions. As an application, the magnetic-dipole static axisymmetric equilibria with vanishing poloidal plasma currents derived recently by Krasheninnikov et al. (1999) are extended to plasmas with finite poloidal currents, subject to gravitating forces from a massive body (a star or black hole) and inertial forces due to incompressible sheared flows. Explicit solutions are obtained in two regimes: (a) in the low-energy regime β0 ≈ γ0 ≈ δ0 ≈ ε0 ? 1, where β0, γ0, δ0, and ε0 are related to the thermal, poloidal-current, flow and gravitating energies normalized to the poloidal-magnetic-field energy, respectively, and (b) in the high-energy regime β0 ≈ γ0 ≈ δ0 ≈ ε0 ? 1. It turns out that in the high-energy regime all four forces, pressure-gradient, toroidal-magnetic-field, inertial, and gravitating contribute equally to the formation of magnetic surfaces very extended and localized about the symmetry plane such that the resulting equilibria resemble the accretion disks in astrophysics.

In foundation engineering practice, pile driving is often used as an efficient method to install piles. While large distortions take place along the pile shaft during the installation, the zone around the pile toe experiences compression. In an attempt to fully understand the build up of resistance when driving piles, it is desirable to model the driving process and the corresponding soil behaviour. The non-linear dynamic analysis of this problem is challenging, given the large deformation that develops together with the associated changes in soil properties. Some numerical methods offer the possibility of handling large material movements by utilising Lagrangian and Eulerian frames of references. However, few of these methods are capable of tracing the material displacement, such as the Material Point Method (MPM). Early implementation of MPM assumes that the mass is concentrated at the material points, which causes noise in the solution. Later implementations assign a spatial domain to the material points to mitigate the grid crossing error. The Convected Particle Domain Interpolation (CPDI) is one such implementation. This paper extends the two-dimensional CPDI formulation for an axisymmetric problem where a pile is driven into sand that is modelled as a hypoplastic model. The extended formulation is tested, validated and compared to that for the case of the two-dimensional plane-strain within the framework of the method of manufactured solution. The hammer blows on the pile are represented by a periodic forcing function. In contrast to earlier studies on pile installation using advanced models, deep penetration is achieved in the present analysis. A non-regular distribution for the particle domains is suggested to avoid unnecessary computation. A frictional contact algorithm is introduced to describe the pile–soil interaction.  相似文献

Local transmitting boundaries for transient elastic analysis   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
The aim of this paper is to investigate and develop alternative methods of analyzing problems in dynamic soil–structure-interaction (SSI). The interaction means that the amplitude of structural response is effected by additional energy dissipation through radiation and material damping in the soil. The surrounding soft soil behaves as a natural damper for a massive and stiff structure supported or embedded in it. The main focus is the major difficulty posed by such an analysis — the phenomena of waves that radiate outward from the excited structures towards infinity. In numerical calculations only a finite region of the foundation medium is analyzed and something is done to prevent the outgoing radiation waves from reflecting at the boundary region.Development of a simple and efficient finite element (FE) procedure for the solution directly in the time domain of transient SSI problems is the main concern. The central feature of the procedure is local absorbing boundaries used to render the computational domain finite. These boundaries are local in both time and space and are completely defined by a pair of symmetric stiffness and damping matrices. As the effort for implementing them is the same as for the impedance boundary condition (BC) considering the angle of incidence, standard assembly procedure can be used. Due to the local nature they also preserve the overall structure of the global equations of motion. Even though the focus is in the time domain the same equations of motions can be used to determine the solution under time-harmonic excitation directly in the frequency domain. Explicit formulae for the element matrices are included in the paper and numerical examples for transient radiation model problems to illustrate the validity and accuracy of the new procedures, are given.  相似文献
