This study assessed gully erosion susceptibility in Southern Gombe State, Nigeria. The objectives of the study were to: (1) prepare gully inventory of Southern Gombe State, (2) apply the Analytical Hierarchy Process to assess the contribution of gully erosion predisposing factors, and (3) produce a gully erosion susceptibility map of Southern Gombe State. Based on geomorphological study involving interpretation of Google Earth images and field surveys, 127 gullies were identified and 13 gully erosion predisposing factors assumed to influence gully erosion susceptibility were selected. Identified gullies were randomly split into training (89 or 70 per cent) and validation (38 or 30 per cent) datasets. The contribution of each gully erosion predisposing factor was obtained using the Analytical Hierarchy Process. The results indicated that slope (0.130), stream density (0.121), and distance from stream (0.121) play crucial roles in gully erosion susceptibility. By overlaying the gully erosion susceptibility factor maps, a gully erosion susceptibility map was created. A natural break method was then used to classify gully erosion areas into relatively safe (6.04 km2), less susceptible (3332.46 km2), moderately susceptible (1811.49 km2), highly susceptible (1146.35 km2), and extremely susceptible (1726.77 km2) categories. Field verification confirmed that the map accurately classified 92.11 per cent of the validation datasets, signifying the Analytical Hierarchy Process as a reliable method for gully erosion susceptibility assessment. The created gully erosion susceptibility map can assist land planners to identify critical gully erosion areas where prevention and mitigation actions should be implemented.  相似文献

研究着眼于上百年尺度西太副高及台风活动变化特征,通过统计分析的方法对百年来台风活动特性及其与西太副高的相关性进行分析。结果表明:(1) 近160 a副热带高压的范围增大、强度增强,在1980年前后,副高平均北界明显北抬,西脊点明显西伸,这种变化与经向环流(Hadley环流)和纬向环流(Walker环流)的变化相关,Hadley环流下沉支(wh)对西太副高关键区的副高强度(h)存在正影响,Walker环流上升支(ww)则存在负影响;(2) 各区域1930年后台风影响时长和年频数均增加。而1975—2020年时段西北太平洋台风年平均影响时长与1930—1975年时段相比有所下降,但发生年频率无明显变化;华南地区的年影响时长与年频数没有明显变化,但我国华东沿海地区台风的年影响平均时长与年频数均显著增加。Hadley环流下沉支、Walker环流上升支、副高强度与西北太平洋台风活动范围向西向北伸展及各区域发生频率显著相关,具有一定的指示意义。  相似文献

基于黄河中游4个水文站1919~2010年还原的天然径流量、1873~2011年的夏季风强度指数、北大西洋涛动指数(NAO)和西太平洋副高指数等资料,利用Morlet小波方法分析了黄河中游河口镇-龙门区间(简称河龙区间),龙门-三门峡区间(简称龙三区间)和三门峡-花园口区间(简称三花区间)径流量的周期变化,并探索了夏季风、中纬度西风与西太平洋副高等环流因子对黄河中游3个区间径流量周期性变化的影响。研究发现,黄河中游3个区间径流量的变化对夏季风、中纬度西风和西太平洋副高存在差异性响应,季风对于黄河中游的径流量不仅在时间上具有趋势性的影响,更为重要的是存在周期性的控制作用,在80 a长周期上对于整个黄河中游都有控制作用,但影响黄河中游降水-径流过程的不仅仅是夏季风,相关统计结果表明还受到西风带和西太平洋副高周期的影响。3个区间都存在一个中等尺度(25 a)的周期,这个周期在夏季风上没有得到体现,河龙区间和龙三区间的25 a周期是受西风带影响所致,而三花区间的中尺度25 a周期是西太平洋副高指数的强度和西界的作用所致。  相似文献

Madden-Julian Oscillation (MJO)是热带大气在季节内时间尺度上的主要变化特征,MJO对流的活动对全球很多地区的天气和气候系统都有重要的影响,因此MJO是大气科学重要的前沿课题之一.MJO对流的生成过程是MJO研究中公认的最薄弱的环节,文中从MJO的研究背景出发,对MJO对流生成的有关研究工作及其进展进行了回顾与总结,主要包括MJO对流生成的前期信号、MJO对流的数值模拟、MJO对流生成的动力学机制.最后对MJO对流生成研究中还有待解决的问题进行了分析与讨论.  相似文献

本文利用1951—2010年NCEP/NCAR再分析月平均资料研究了热带海表面温度对南亚高压与西太平洋副热带高压发展变化的影响,得到以下主要结论:在两高压强年与暖海温年(两高压弱年与冷海温年)里,冬、春两季赤道印度洋、太平洋海温距平呈现显著的正?负?正(负?正?负)的厄尔尼诺(拉尼娜)现象,中南半岛附近的对流层高层产生异常西风(东风)气流,有利于(不利于)南侧异常反气旋环流的产生,从而促进(阻碍)南亚高压发展;菲律宾海域的对流层产生异常下沉(上升)气流,有利于(不利于)西北侧异常反气旋环流的产生,从而促进(阻碍)低层西太副高的发展。夏季,热带印度洋的暖海温(冷海温)有效地增加(降低)了当地的对流效应,使大气对流层温度增暖(减低),影响南亚高压与西太平洋副热带高压的发展。  相似文献

In this study, two possible persistent anomalies of the Madden-Julian Oscillation mode (MJO) are found in the summer season (persistently Pacific active and Indian Ocean active), and an index is set to define the intensity of the two modes. They are proved to have high statistical correlations to the later ENSO events in the autumn and winter seasons: When persistent anomaly of MJO happens in the Pacific Ocean in summer, El Ni?o events are often induced during the autumn and winter seasons of that year. However, during the other MJO mode when the summer persistent anomaly of MJO occurs in the Indian Ocean, La Ni?a events often follow instead. The analysis of the atmospheric circulation field indicates that persistent anomaly of MJO can probably affect the entire Equatorial Pacific circulation, and results in wind stress anomalies. The wind stress anomalies could excite warm or cold water masses which propagate eastwards at the subsurface ocean. The accumulation of warm or cold subsurface water in the Equatorial Eastern Pacific Ocean may eventually lead to the formation of an ENSO.  相似文献

Observed outgoing longwave radiation (OLR) and ERA-Interim reanalysis data were analyzed to reveal the initiation processes associated with a successive and a primary MJO event during 2000-2001. It was found that the initiation of the successive event was caused by anomalous ascending motion induced by low-level horizontal temperature advection. The anomalous ascending motion, together with horizontal moisture advection, moistened lower troposphere and led to an unstable stratification and triggered convection. The initiation of the primary MJO event, on the other hand, was caused by the accumulation of anomalous moisture associated with three low-frequency modes, a convectively coupled Kelvin wave (CCKW), an westward-propagating equatorial Rossby wave (ER) and a weak planetary-scale MJO mode. It is the merging of the low-level specific humidity anomalies of the three modes that led to the rapid setup of large-scale convectively unstable stratification and favored the development of the eastward-propagating planetary-scale MJO mode.  相似文献

1991年5月和1997年4月赤道中东太平洋均发生了El Ni?o事件,但是1992年夏季黄淮地区降水异常偏少,而1998年夏季却异常偏多。分析结果显示,1992年夏季西北太平洋副热带高压(以下简称副高)偏东,中高纬阻塞高压偏弱,黄淮地区降水异常偏少;而1998年夏季,副高偏西,中高纬阻塞高压活动频繁,黄淮地区降水异常偏多。对海温外强迫信号的诊断和数值模式试验显示:当西太平洋对流活动偏弱时,有利于副高西伸;鄂霍茨克海及以东海温偏高时,其上空的阻塞高压增强;北大西洋中纬度地区海温偏高时,有利于后期乌拉尔山高压脊明显增强。即在赤道中东太平洋发生El Ni?o事件的背景下,西太平洋对流、鄂霍茨克海附近亲潮区域和北大西洋中纬度区域海温异常可能是导致黄淮区域1992年夏季和1998年夏季降水差异大的主要原因。该工作显示仅根据El Ni?o事件的发生时间和强度无法完全预测黄淮地区夏季降水变化,需要综合考虑西太平洋对流、鄂霍茨克海附近海域和北大西洋中纬度区域海温异常对季风环流的影响,从多因子协同作用的角度诊断和预测黄淮地区夏季降水异常趋势,提高预测能力。  相似文献

The accurate classification of tree species is critical for the management of forest ecosystems, particularly subtropical forests, which are highly diverse and complex ecosystems. While airborne Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) technology offers significant potential to estimate forest structural attributes, the capacity of this new tool to classify species is less well known. In this research, full-waveform metrics were extracted by a voxel-based composite waveform approach and examined with a Random Forests classifier to discriminate six subtropical tree species (i.e., Masson pine (Pinus massoniana Lamb.)), Chinese fir (Cunninghamia lanceolata (Lamb.) Hook.), Slash pines (Pinus elliottii Engelm.), Sawtooth oak (Quercus acutissima Carruth.) and Chinese holly (Ilex chinensis Sims.) at three levels of discrimination. As part of the analysis, the optimal voxel size for modelling the composite waveforms was investigated, the most important predictor metrics for species classification assessed and the effect of scan angle on species discrimination examined. Results demonstrate that all tree species were classified with relatively high accuracy (68.6% for six classes, 75.8% for four main species and 86.2% for conifers and broadleaved trees). Full-waveform metrics (based on height of median energy, waveform distance and number of waveform peaks) demonstrated high classification importance and were stable among various voxel sizes. The results also suggest that the voxel based approach can alleviate some of the issues associated with large scan angles. In summary, the results indicate that full-waveform LIDAR data have significant potential for tree species classification in the subtropical forests.  相似文献

With the Zebiak-Cane model and a parameterized stochastic representation of intraseasonal forcing, the impact of the uncertainties of Madden–Jullian Oscillation (MJO) on the “Spring Predictability Barrier (SPB)” for El Ni?no–Southern Oscillation (ENSO) prediction is studied. The parameterized form of MJO forcing is added physically to the Zebiak-Cane model to obtain the so-called Zebiak-Cane-MJO model and then the effects of initial error, stochastic model error, and their joint error mode on the SPB associated with El Ni?no prediction are estimated. The results show that the model errors caused by stochastic MJO forcing could hardly lead to a significant SPB while initial errors can do; furthermore, the joint error mode of initial error and model error associated with the stochastic MJO forcing can also lead to a significant SPB. These demonstrate that the initial error is probably the main error source of the SPB, which may provide a theoretical foundation of data assimilation for ENSO forecasts.  相似文献
