By means of numerical methods we explore the relevance of the high-order exterior mean motion resonances (MMR) with Neptune that a scattered disk object (SDO) can experience in its diffusion to the Oort cloud. Using a numerical method for estimate the strength of these resonances we show that high-eccentricity or high-inclination resonant orbits should have evident dynamical effects. We investigate the properties of the Kozai mechanism (KM) for non-resonant SDO's and the conditions that generate the KM inside a MMR associated with substantial changes in eccentricity and inclination. We found that the KM inside a MMR is typical for SDO's with Pluto-like or greater inclinations and is generated by the oscillation of ω inside the mixed (e,i) resonant terms of the disturbing function. A SDO diffusing to the Oort cloud should experience temporary captures in MMR, preferably of the type 1:N, and when evolving inside a MMR and experiencing the KM it can reach regions where the strength of the resonance drops and consequently there is a possibility of being decoupled from the resonance generating by this way a long-lived high-perihelion scattered disk object (HPSDO). 相似文献

Recent dynamical analyses of the Kuiper belt have introduced a rigorous classification scheme, determined the mean orbital plane, and identified “Core” and “Halo” populations as a function of inclination with respect to this plane (Elliot, J.L., Kern, S.D., Clancy, K.B., Gulbis, A.A.S., Millis, R.L., Buie, M.W., Wasserman, L.H., Chiang, E.I., Jordan, A.B., Trilling, D.E., Meech, K.J., 2005. Astron. J. 129, 1117-1162). Here, we use new observations and existing data to investigate the colors of Kuiper belt objects (KBOs) within this framework. With respect to the bulk KBO color distribution (all objects for which we have B-V and V-R colors; median B-R=1.56), we find that the population of objects classified following (Elliot, J.L., Kern, S.D., Clancy, K.B., Gulbis, A.A.S., Millis, R.L., Buie, M.W., Wasserman, L.H., Chiang, E.I., Jordan, A.B., Trilling, D.E., Meech, K.J., 2005. Astron. J. 129, 1117-1162) as Classical tends to be red (B-R>1.56) while the Scattered Near population is mostly neutral (B-R<1.56). Colors of Scattered Extended and Resonant objects are consistent with the bulk distribution. Separating objects into specific resonances demonstrates that the color of the Resonant sample is dominated by KBOs in the 3:2 resonance, which is consistent with previous findings. Unlike the objects in the 3:2 resonance, however, the majority of objects in the 5:2 resonance are neutral and all but one of the objects in the 4:3, 5:3, 7:4, 2:1, and 7:3 resonances are red. In particular, the objects in the 7:4 resonance are remarkably red. We find that the colors of KBOs in the Core (low-inclination) and Halo (high-inclination) are statistically different, with Core objects being primarily red and Halo objects having a slight tendency to be neutral. Notably, virtually all of the non-Resonant Core objects are red. This combination of low inclination, unperturbed orbits and red colors in the Core may be indicative of a relic grouping of objects. 相似文献

We present the results of spectral modeling of 17 Trojan asteroids. The surface composition of this group of objects (located just beyond the main belt, trapped in Jupiter's stable Lagrange points) remains uncertain due to an absence of diagnostic absorption features in their spectra. We quantitatively analyze spectra of these objects covering the range 0.3-4.0 μm using the formulation for scattering in a particulate medium developed by Hapke. Since the widest spectral range possible is desired to provide the most robust results, recently measured near-IR spectra are combined with previously published visible and near-IR data. These composite spectra are converted to and modeled in terms of geometric albedo to provide the additional constraint of the absolute brightness of the asteroids. It is important that this modeling is performed for a large number of objects, and results are derived based on trends among best-fit models. Under this rigorous examination, we find that it is unlikely that the red spectral slope is a result of organics on the surfaces, due mainly to the lack of absorptions in the L-band. Instead, anhydrous silicates adequately describe the spectral characteristics of this group of objects. A significant fraction of carbonaceous material is also likely present, but is not responsible for the red spectral slope in these models. Also, using these models, we estimate that these surfaces contain at most a few wt% of H2O ice and no more than 10-30 wt% of hydrated silicates. 相似文献

We present near infrared reflectance spectra from 0.8 to 2.5 μm of two asteroids with low Tisserand invariant, 1373 Cincinnati and 2906 Caltech. We compare our spectra with cometary nuclei and other asteroids in their class. Asteroids Cincinnati and Caltech have Tisserand invariant values of 2.72 and 2.97, respectively, values less than 3 are considered suggestive of cometary origin. The observed spectral slopes in the near-infrared are consistent with both the spectra of cometary nuclei and of primitive asteroids. However, both asteroids have features in the near-infrared that are not seen in cometary nuclei, but are present in other X-type asteroids. 1373 Cincinnati has a sharp slope change between 0.75 and 1.0 μm and 2906 Caltech has a broad and shallow absorption between 1.35 and 2.2 μm. Our attempts to model the visible and near-infrared spectrum of these two objects, with the components successfully used by Emery and Brown (2004, Icarus
164, 104–121) to fit Trojan asteroids, did not yield acceptable fits.Visiting Astronomer at the Infrared Telescope Facility, which is operated by the University of Hawaii under contract to the National Aeronautics and Space Administration. 相似文献

Amongst the sources seen in very high gamma-rays several are associated with Pulsar Wind Nebulae (“TeV plerions”). The study
of hard X-ray/soft gamma-ray emission is providing an important insight into the energetic particle population present in
these objects. The unpulsed emission from pulsar/pulsar wind nebula systems in the energy range accessible to the INTEGRAL satellite is mainly synchrotron emission from energetic and fast cooling electrons close to their acceleration site. Our
analyses of public INTEGRAL data of known TeV plerions detected by ground based Cherenkov telescopes indicate a deeper link between these TeV plerions
and INTEGRAL detected pulsar wind nebulae. The newly discovered TeV plerion in the northern wing of the Kookaburra region (G313.3+0.6
powered by the middle aged PSR J1420-6048) is found to have a previously unknown INTEGRAL counterpart which is besides the Vela pulsar the only middle aged pulsar detected with INTEGRAL. We do not find an INTEGRAL counterpart of the TeV plerion associated with the X-ray PWN “Rabbit” G313.3+0.1 which is possibly powered by a young pulsar. 相似文献

Recent observations provide strong evidence for the BL Lac object OJ287 exhibiting a 11.6±0.5 yr periodicity with a double-peaked
maxima in its optical flux variations. Several models have been proposed for the optical behavior. The 2005 November outburst
in OJ287 gives us a surprising result since calculation based on the periodicity was predicting such an outburst in late 2006.
Here we suggest a new model, it can not only explain the optical quasi-periodic behavior, but also the radio flares behavior
which is and simultaneous with the optical flares. We propose that OJ287 is a binary pair of super-massive black holes, both
of them creating a jet. The quasi-periodic double peaks would be due to the relativistic beaming effect on the emission coming
from the double helix jets. We used “core flares” to explain the large lags between light curves at different frequencies,
and the assumption of two jets appear to be merged with each other partly in the radio frequency emitting regions provides
a viable interpretation that we can see only a broad maximum which contains two radio flares that we cannot distinguish. 相似文献

Herbig-Haro objects (HHOs) are caused by outflows from young objects. Since the outflow relies on mass accretion from a circumstellar
disk, it indicates ongoing growth. Recent results of infrared observations yielded evidence for disks around brown dwarfs.
This suggests that at least a certain fraction of brown dwarfs forms like stars. Thus, young sub-stellar objects might cause
HHOs as well. We present selected results of a general survey for HHOs based on DSS-II plates and CCD images taken with the
Tautenburg Schmidt telescope. Numerous young objects could be identified due to their association with newly detected HHOs.
In some cases the luminosity is consistent with very low-mass stars or close to sub-stellar values. This holds for L1415-IRS
and a few infrared sources embedded in other dark clouds (e.g., GF9, BHR111). The question on the minimum mass for outflow
activity is addressed. 相似文献

In a search for infrared excess objects near the galactic plane, a star field of 28.5 square degrees in Vela has been measured on UK Schmidt plates R4272 and 14183 with the Cosmos machine at Royal Observatory, Edinburgh. The magnitude limit is around 20 in R and around 19 in I. 131 infrared excess objects with colour index R-I > 2.5 are discovered in the field, and 3 red stellar objects have been identified as the optical counterparts of IRAS point sources. 相似文献
