Short-period teleseismicP waves from the Nevada Test Site (NTS) show systematic variations in amplitudes and travel times, with low amplitudes corresponding to fast travel times, suggesting elastic focussing-defocussing effects. Also, the azimuthal amplitude and travel time patterns for events at the Pahute Mesa subsite are systematically different from those at the Yucca Flat subsite, indicating the presence of a near-source component in both the amplitude and travel-time variations. This component is isolated by removing the mean station pattern for all of NTS from the observations. A very-near-source component in the Pahute Mesa observations is also isolated by removing subsite station means from the measurements, whereas the Yucca Flat observations exhibited no coherent very-near-source component. These anomalies are back-projected through laterally homogeneous structure to form thin lens models at various depths. Travel-time delays are predicted from the amplitude variations using the equation for wavefront curvature. The long-wavelength components of the predicted and observed time delays correlate well, at depths of 25 km for the very-near-source component under Pahute Mesa and 160 km for the regional component under NTS. The time delay surfaces predicted by the amplitudes at these depths are mapped into warped velocity discontinuities suitable for the calculation of synthetic seismograms using the Kirchhoff-Helmholtz integral formulation. Both the intersite (near-source) and intrasite (very-near-source) differences in amplitudes are qualitatively predicted very well, although the range of variation is somewhat underpredicted. This deficiency is likely due to the destructive interference of anomalies inherent in back-projection to a single layer.  相似文献

Adopting the spectral approach, we derive the formulation of angular coherence and transverse coherence of transmission fluctuations. Our derivation and results provide new insight on transmission fluctuation analysis. A review of research work on fluctuation analysis using observations at large seismic arrays such as LASA and NORSAR-follows. We point out that the model of a single-layer Gaussian medium cannot explain the angular coherence of NORSAR data and a more general model of a non-Gaussian, multi-scale, vertically inhomogeneous random media is needed. The model of a two-layer power-law medium proposed by Flatté and Wu is among the simplest of such models.  相似文献

By using the upper-wind data from July 1980 to June 1983,the variations of the low-frequency oscillation(LFO) in the atmosphere before and during 1982 El Nino have been investigated.Before the El Nino,the LFO propagates from west to east over the equator of the Eastern Hemisphere and from east to west over 20°N.The eastward propagating LFO over the equator consists of zonal wavenumber 1 propagating eastward and zonal wavenumber 2 with a character of stationary wave.The oscillation of zonal wavenumber 2 can modulate the oscillation strength.After the onset of the El Nino,the propagating directions of the LFO over the equator and 20°N of the Eastern Hemisphere change to be westward and eastward,respectively.The LFO over the western Pacific weakens rapidly and one coming from middle and high latitudes propagates to the equator.From the phase compositions of streamline fields for the zonal wavenumber 1 of equatorial westward propagatirg LFO,it is found that the atmospheric heat source in the equator of the eastern Pacific(EEP)excites a series of the equatorial cyclones and anticyclones which move northward and westward and form the westward propagating LFO over the equator.With the wavelength of 20000km,this kind of equatorial wave is similar to the mixing Rossby-gravity wave.In its westward and northward movement,the circulation in East Asia is modified.This may be the mechanism of the influence of El Nino on the climate of China.  相似文献

本文采用ECMWF1983年7月1日至9月12日逐日200hPa纬向风场资料,用复经验正交方法讨论了10-20天低频振荡的经向传播及地理特征。结果表明:(1)10--2天振荡有三个显著区域:贝加尔湖附近地区;赤道90°E附近以及新加坡、马来西亚地区;80-100°E,22-32°N之间。(2)源于较高纬度地区的振荡与源于赤道附近地区的振荡在105°E,17—23°N附近同位相相遇,在90°E,20°N附近反位相相叠加,振荡相互削弱,在25°N附近同位相相遇。(3)从振荡位相来看,中南半岛东南部、马来西亚北部、菲律宾以西区域的振荡向北传播到中国东南沿海,向西传播到孟加拉湾印度半岛;20°N以南低纬度地区的振荡很少能传播到80°E以东30°N附近地区;位于90-95°E,25-27°N之间的振荡以及贝加尔湖附近地区的振荡可以向南北两个方向传播。  相似文献

在一般斜压大气中,基本气流中包含经圈环流时,定常波传播不仅能穿过东风带,而且明显增强。在基流含有经圈环流的情况下,北半球中纬度地形强迫可引起低纬大气的显著响应,这表明经圈环流在中低纬定常响应的相互联系中起着重要作用;北半球中纬度热力强迫可产生类似北半球夏季季风环流的波列分布,这说明经圈环流在夏季季风环流的形成中起着一定的作用;在赤道东太平洋加热强迫情况下,在冬半球可引起PNA型的定常波传播波列,而在夏半球却没有明显的PNA特征。这表明经圈环流对冬、夏半球的定常波传播路径有着显著的影响。  相似文献

Summary A model of the gas flow in airways during an instantaneous outburst of coal and gas is formulated and solved numerically using MacCormack's explicit finite-difference scheme. This model is based on the assumption that geological structures, in-situ stresses and high-gas-pressure gradients play important roles in initiating an outburst, with the gas content and gas-pressure gradients being the most dominant factors. The fluid-dynamic processes that occur after an outburst are computed by the numerical integration of the complete time-dependent Navier-Stokes equations. The mixture velocity, the density and the gas-concentration profiles in both time and space domains (immediately after an outburst) are presented.
