We develop the relational economic geographical potential of the incubator and hinge functions of megalopolis incorporating ideas from the literature on regional innovation systems and New Argonaut connections respectively. Empirically, we investigate how China’s Yangtze River Delta (YRD) has incubated but also articulated knowledge interactions at different geographical scales. Drawing upon co-patent data from the World Intellectual Property Organization database, we show that the YRD’s knowledge hinge role has strengthened over time, notably as a result of the role played by economic entities in Shanghai – the YRD’s gateway city. To unpack the YRD’s knowledge hinge role, we use information attached to co-patents to distinguish different channels – multinational enterprises, Chinese domestic enterprises, universities and research institutes, and “New Argonaut” linkages – by which YRD cities have accessed exogenous knowledge at different geographical scales. In conclusion we highlight the value of megalopolis as a meso-scale unit of analysis for relational economic geography. 相似文献

地理空间数据的多尺度表征是制图学的基石,是支撑地理数据多尺度建模分析的前提。通过对从遥感影像获取的一定尺度的地理要素矢量数据进行选择、化简、聚合或其他处理,以获取多尺度矢量数据,但多种综合处理模型和方法会导致多尺度矢量数据存在着不同程度的信息损失。本文基于地理信息系统(ArcGIS 10.6)的矢量数据制图综合功能模块,通过整合多种内嵌的自动算法和模型,结合人机协同的辅助处理方法,构建了一套系统的海陆岸线空间尺度上推方法体系,并将其应用于南美洲大陆海陆岸线矢量数据从m级空间尺度上推到30 m、250 m和1 km。基于分形理论,首次提出线矢量数据复杂度指数概念,用以表征海陆岸线地理要素特征和对比其信息精细化程度。在此基础上,对获取的30 m、250 m和1 km海陆岸线矢量数据进行信息损失评估,结果显示制图综合引起陆地和水域空间属性的改变,不同尺度表征的地理要素信息精细度存在显著差异:相比m级基础数据,30 m、250 m和1 km海陆岸线矢量数据陆地图斑数量损失分别为32.07%、90.46%和98.61%,岛屿线矢量长度信息损失分别为6.32%、49.26%和75.47%;南美洲大陆海岸线矢量数据信息精细度分别降低1.97%、25.33%和45.39%。本文构建的计算机自动综合模型和人工处理相结合的海陆岸线矢量数据空间尺度上推方法,可以实现海陆岸线矢量数据空间尺度上推获取不同尺度的线矢量数据,并描述了不同空间尺度矢量数据的信息损失状况。 相似文献

As a result of population growth and economic development, there has been a rapid increase in sea use around the island of Taiwan. Such increased use is placing pressure on the marine environment and its resources. Three draft territory laws (the Draft National Territory Planning Act, the Land Re-conservation Draft Bill, and the Draft Coastal Act) and the Local Government Act are neither consistent nor sufficiently comprehensive. Consequently, local Governments (municipalities and counties) experience difficulties in planning and managing their inshore waters. This paper will discuss the role local Governments plays in marine spatial planning and management. Local Government officials working in specialist marine affairs units from Kaohsiung and Keelung cities were surveyed to elicit their views with regards to management authority, management capacity and resources, officials’ commitment, and intergovernmental coordination/collaboration with respect to inshore waters. In-depth interviews were also conducted with local directors of specialist marine affairs units along with experts, to identify the causes of problems brought to light through the survey and to propose potential solutions to these problems. The study findings indicated that it is necessary to specify the marine spatial planning and management authority, as well as the scope of local Governments, in both the Coastal Act and Local Government Act. In order to sustainably develop Taiwan’s marine and coastal areas, it is important that the following four primary factors (management authority, management capacity and resources, officials’ commitment, and intergovernmental coordination/collaboration) be improved. 相似文献

知识经济与网络社会时代,知识合作网络成为理解城市创新过程的重要视角。在知识合作网络中,存在两种不同类型的合作模式,即“本地蜂鸣”和“全球管道”。本文以“蜂鸣—管道”模型的逻辑思想和理论假设为基础,探讨区域内和跨区域两种不同城市知识合作模式的特征及其对城市知识产出的影响。首先提出了蜂鸣与管道的测度方法;然后以“Web of Science”数据库为基础构建了中国20个城市群的知识合作网络,考察了网络中蜂鸣和管道的演化路径和组合特征,归纳出城市知识合作模式的不同类型;最后,通过计量模型揭示了蜂鸣和管道对城市知识产出的影响。结果显示:① 中国城市知识合作网络中的蜂鸣与管道表现出渐进积累和自我强化的空间演化特征;② 根据蜂鸣和管道的组合特征,可将城市划分为“网络型”“外向型”“孤岛型”“内向型”4类,不同类型的城市在知识网络中的空间分布规律和发展演进路径存在差异;③ 根据负二项回归模型发现,蜂鸣与城市知识产出呈倒“U”型关系;管道与城市知识产出显著正相关;此外,两种合作模式在促进城市知识生产的过程中存在互补效应。 相似文献

Research on climate change impacts, vulnerability and adaptation, particularly projects aiming to contribute to practical adaptation initiatives, requires active involvement and collaboration with community members and local, regional and national organizations that use this research for policy-making. Arctic communities are already experiencing and adapting to environmental and socio-cultural changes, and researchers have a practical and ethical responsibility to engage with communities that are the focus of the research. This paper draws on the experiences of researchers working with communities across the Canadian Arctic, together with the expertise of Inuit organizations, Northern research institutes and community partners, to outline key considerations for effectively engaging Arctic communities in collaborative research. These considerations include: initiating early and ongoing communication with communities, and regional and national contacts; involving communities in research design and development; facilitating opportunities for local employment; and disseminating research findings. Groundwater is an important and readily available source of fresh water in the Mekong-Lancang River Basin. With a rapid population growth and increasing human activities, an increasing number of countries in the Mekong-Lancang River Basin are experiencing depleted and degraded groundwater supplies. In transboundary river basins, such as the Mekong-Lancang River, prioritizing the use of the shared aquifer by one riparian government may affect the opportunities of other riparian governments and lead to potential water conflicts between neighboring countries. To promote the sharing of strategies and information for the sustainable and equitable use of water resources of the shared basin, international collaborative workshops on groundwater resources have been organized for all Mekong-Lancang River countries. These workshops provide an opportunity to communicate and discuss nationally sensitive issues on groundwater by the associated countries, with topics covering multiple aspects of groundwater, such as the groundwater status in the basin, quality issues, water use conflicts, hydrological information gaps, management policies and capacity building for successful water resource management. Consensus has been reached by all countries on the importance of catchment-based groundwater management and the need for close communication among the countries. Strategies for managing transboundary aquifer issues must foster international collaboration based on the regional network, influence national networks and enhance the capacity to building maps and monitoring systems based on associated databases. The sustainability of water resources cannot be achieved without the integrated involvement and contributions by multiple countries and various stakeholders. Therefore, collaborative workshops provide a great opportunity to further our understanding of the hydrologic processes of the Mekong River Basin, share the benefits of the aquifer and provide a strategy and vision for sustainable water resource management in the Mekong-Lancang River countries. 相似文献

According to many researchers, the use of inter-firm collaborative practices as a new industrial production strategy is increasing
as a response to industrial restructuring and changing environmental conditions. The adoption of these practices is thought
to be particularly critical for small firms, and consequently governments in most industrialized countries have designed specific
policies aimed at encouraging inter-firm relationships. The few empirical studies have focused on the experiences of model
industrial districts to support claims about the ubiquity of collaborative relations. The present study of a more typical
urban area examines three interrelated issues: the incidence of inter-firm relations, the motivations and forms of collaboration,
and the influence of public policies on inter-firm relationships. Information was collected from 191 small electronics firms
in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). The results suggest that inter-firm collaboration is moderately common but not the norm.
The incidence of collaborative activities is likely to increase with company size. While motives for inter-firm activities
vary slightly with firm size, the nature and forms of agreements are largely similar among various sizes of firms. The paper
notes that public policies and programs within the GTA have not had the desired impact of creating cooperative attitudes among
small electronics firms.
