斜锆石U-Pb定年是基性岩墙时代确定的有效方法。前人对太行岩墙群高分异组岩墙(Ti O2通常1%,Mg O一般6%)进行了较多的定年,但缺少对低分异组岩墙(Ti O2约为1%,Mg O6%)的高精度测年。两者年龄是否一致是讨论两组岩墙是否来源于同一岩浆的基本前提。本研究对华北太行岩墙群丰镇地区低、高分异组代表性岩墙进行了斜锆石离子探针207Pb/206Pb定年。结果表明,低分异组车道沟岩墙207Pb/206Pb平均年龄为1768±4Ma(n=9,MSWD=2.1);而高分异组酸刺湾岩墙斜锆石207Pb/206Pb年龄可以分为两组,加权平均值分别为1780±3Ma(n=8,MSWD=0.65)和1760±3Ma(n=5,MSWD=1.7)。斜锆石成分分析表明,酸刺湾岩墙两组年龄对应的矿物成分存在差异,如晚期斜锆石比早期更富Ti,Zr/Hf比值变化范围相对较小。据此认为,酸刺湾岩墙两组斜锆石可能结晶于岩浆不同阶段:早期(~1780Ma)的斜锆石可能结晶于成分更加原始的岩浆,很可能形成于岩浆房中;晚期(~1760Ma)的斜锆石可能结晶于成分更加演化的岩浆,可能是岩浆通道(岩墙)或岩浆房中。Zr/Hf值与单点年龄的负相关趋势可能记录了单斜辉石的结晶过程。已有的太行岩墙群U-Pb年代学结果集中于1785~1760Ma。我们的研究认为,太行岩墙群岩浆房存在了约20Myr,即岩浆房形成于~1785Ma,岩墙就位于1785~1760Ma。  相似文献

Kimberlite-hosted diamond deposits of southern Africa: A review   总被引:4,自引:0,他引:4  
Following the discovery of diamonds in river deposits in central South Africa in the mid nineteenth century, it was at Kimberley where the volcanic origin of diamonds was first recognized. These volcanic rocks, that were named “kimberlite”, were to become the corner stone of the economic and industrial development of southern Africa. Following the discoveries at Kimberley, even more valuable deposits were discovered in South Africa and Botswana in particular, but also in Lesotho, Swaziland and Zimbabwe.A century of study of kimberlites, and the diamonds and other mantle-derived rocks they contain, has furthered the understanding of the processes that occurred within the sub-continental lithosphere and in particular the formation of diamonds. The formation of kimberlite-hosted diamond deposits is a long-lived and complex series of processes that first involved the growth of diamonds in the mantle, and later their removal and transport to the earth's surface by kimberlite magmas. Dating of inclusions in diamonds showed that diamond growth occurred several times over geological time. Many diamonds are of Archaean age and many of these are peridotitic in character, but suites of younger Proterozoic diamonds have also been recognized in various southern African mines. These younger ages correspond with ages of major tectono-thermal events that are recognized in crustal rocks of the sub-continent. Most of these diamonds had eclogitic, websteritic or lherzolitic protoliths.In southern Africa, kimberlite eruptions occurred as discrete events several times during the geological record, including the Early and Middle Proterozoic, the Cambrian, the Permian, the Jurassic and the Cretaceous. Apart from the Early Proterozoic (Kuruman) kimberlites, all of the other events have produced deposits that have been mined. It should however be noted that only about 1% of the kimberlites that have been discovered have been successfully exploited.In this paper, 34 kimberlite mines are reviewed with regard to their geology, mantle xenolith, xenocryst and diamond characteristics and production statistics. These mines vary greatly in size, grade and diamond-value, as well as in the proportions and types of mantle mineral suites that they contain. They include some of the world's richest mines, such as Jwaneng in Botswana, to mines that are both small and marginal, such as the Frank Smith Mine in South Africa. They include large diatremes such as Orapa and small dykes such as those mined at Bellsbank, Swartruggens and near Theunissen. These mines are all located on the Archaean Kalahari Craton, and it is apparent that the craton and its associated sub-continental lithosphere played an important role in providing the right environment for diamond growth and for the formation of the kimberlite magmas that were to transport them to the surface.  相似文献

Stratigraphic offsets in the peak concentrations of platinum-group elements (PGE) and base-metal sulfides in the main sulfide zone of the Great Dyke and the precious metals zone of the Sonju Lake Intrusion have, in part, been attributed to the interaction between magmatic PGE-bearing base-metal sulfide assemblages and hydrothermal fluids. In this paper, we provide mineralogical and textural evidence that indicates alteration of base-metal sulfides and mobilization of metals and S during hydrothermal alteration in both mineralized intrusions. Stable isotopic data suggest that the fluids involved in the alteration were of magmatic origin in the Great Dyke but that a meteoric water component was involved in the alteration of the Sonju Lake Intrusion. The strong spatial association of platinum-group minerals, principally Pt and Pd sulfides, arsenides, and tellurides, with base-metal sulfide assemblages in the main sulfide zone of the Great Dyke is consistent with residual enrichment of Pt and Pd during hydrothermal alteration. However, such an interpretation is more tenuous for the precious metals zone of the Sonju Lake Intrusion where important Pt and Pd arsenides and antimonides occur as inclusions within individual plagioclase crystals and within alteration assemblages that are free of base-metal sulfides. Our observations suggest that Pt and Pd tellurides, antimonides, and arsenides may form during both magmatic crystallization and subsolidus hydrothermal alteration. Experimental studies of magmatic crystallization and hydrothermal transport/deposition in systems involving arsenides, tellurides, antimonides, and base metal sulfides are needed to better understand the relative importance of magmatic and hydrothermal processes in controlling the distribution of PGE in mineralized layered intrusions of this type.  相似文献

青藏高原西北缘米提孜北新发现多条新生代超基性-基性岩脉。岩脉侵位于长城纪赛拉加兹塔格岩群中,整体位于柯岗断裂北侧附近,近东西向展布。岩脉岩性为闪斜煌岩和云斜煌岩,分别具钠质碱性煌斑岩和钠质钙碱性煌斑岩地球化学特征。LA-ICP-MS锆石U-Pb定年获得闪斜煌岩年龄为38.24±0.54 Ma,表明岩脉形成于新生代古近纪。岩脉稀土元素总量偏低(64.28×10^-6~253.41×10^-6),Eu(δEu=1.04~1.21)和Ce(δCe=0.99~1.03)异常均不明显,稀土元素配分模式呈LREE富集(LREE/HREE=4.15~6.45)的右倾型,大离子亲石元素(LILE)相对富集,高场强元素(HFSE)相对亏损。研究结果显示,岩脉是岩石圈地幔低程度部分熔融的产物,岩浆活动持续时间短,岩脉侵位后冷却速度快;岩脉产出于走滑构造体制下,大型走滑断裂控制了岩浆活动的发生和岩脉的分布。  相似文献

We summarise the results of seismological studies related to triggering mechanisms, driving forces and source processes of the West Bohemia/Vogtland earthquake swarms with the aim to disclose the role of crustal fluids in the preparation, triggering and governing of the swarms. We present basic characteristics distinguishing earthquake swarms from tectonic mainshock-aftershock sequences and introduce existing earthquakes swarm models. From the statistical characteristics and time-space distribution of the foci we infer that self-organization is a peculiarity of West Bohemia/Vogtland swarms. We discuss possible causes of the foci migration in these swarms from the viewpoint of co-seismic and/or post-seismic stress changes and diffusion of the pressurized fluids, and we summarize hitherto published models of triggering the 2000-swarm. Attention is paid to the source mechanisms, particularly to their non-shear components. We consider possible causes of different source mechanisms of the 1997-and 2000-swarms and infer that pure shear processes controlled solely by the regional tectonic stress prevail in them, and that additional tensile forces may appear only at unfavourably oriented faults. On data from the fluid injection experiment at the HDR site Soultz (Alsace), we also show that earthquakes triggered by fluids can represent purely shear processes. Thus we conclude that increased pore pressure of crustal fluids in the region plays a key role in bringing the faults from the subcritical to critical state. The swarm activities are mainly driven by stress changes due to co-seismic and post-seismic slips, which considerably depend on the frictional conditions at the fault; crustal fluids keep the fault in a critical state. An open question still remains the cause of the repeatedly observed almost simultaneous occurrence of seismic activity in different focal zones in a wider area of West Bohemia/Vogtland. The analysis of the space-time relations of seismicity in the area between 1991 and 2007 revealed that during a significant part of this time span the seismicity was switching among distant focal zones. This indicates a common triggering force which might be the effect of an increase of crustal-fluid pore-pressure affecting a wider epicentral region.  相似文献

Mafic dyke swarms and aulacogens are major anorogenic extensional events in the Late Paleoproterozoic North China Craton (NCC). The N–NNW mafic dyke swarms are widespread in the NCC, whose ages span between 1.83 and 1.77 Ga. The similar ages and orientations of  1.8 Ga dyke swarms in the NCC demonstrate that the amalgamated NCC experienced widespread extension at this time.Based on the width statistics of dyke swarms on ten survey lines, an average crustal extension ratio of 0.35% was found for the NCC. The small magnitude of overall extension suggests that the mafic dyke swarms were emplaced into the elastic fractures, and indicates that the NCC had become a brittle plate prior to the emplacement of the mafic dyke swarms.Precisely dated mafic dyke swarms, when used as paleostress indicators, can be employed in the paleostress field reconstruction of Precambrian cratons. Two dimensional finite element modeling (2-D FEM) of the NCC, in which the various blocks were assigned densities and elastic constants, shows that north–south compression favors dyke intrusion along generally N–NW lines, and that deviations in dyke trends can be explained by the effects of boundary constraints and the physical properties of the crust. The best fitting model can be considered a plausible representation of the tectonic force acting on the NCC that produces the intraplate stress field that is most consistent with the observed orientation of dyke swarms. The results of modeling of the Late Paleoproterozoic stress field suggest a common tectonic setting for the emplacement of mafic dyke swarms in the Central Orogenic Zone, Western and East Blocks of the NCC. The results also show that the north–south tectonic forces play an important role in determining the paleostress field in the NCC. The widespread extension of the NCC resulted from the north–south tectonic forces which may be related to the break-up of the Late Paleoproterozoic supercontinent. The paleostress field modeling provides a possible approach to consider the supercontinent paleostress reconstruction and to reveal the mechanisms of the supercontinent break-up.  相似文献

Spatio-temporal clustering of microseismicity in the central forearc of the Hellenic Subduction Zone in the area of Crete is investigated. Data for this study were gathered by temporary short period networks which were installed on the islands of Crete and Gavdos between 1996 and 2004. The similarity of waveforms is quantified systematically to identify clusters of microseismicity. Waveform similarities are calculated using an adaptive time window containing both the P- and S-wave onsets. The cluster detection is performed by applying a single linkage approach. Clusters are found in the interplate seismicity as well as in the intraplate seismicity of the continental crust in the region of the transtensional Ptolemy structure. The majority of the clusters are off the southern coast of Crete, in a region of elevated intraplate microseismic activity within the Aegean plate. Clusters in the Gavdos region are located at depths compatible with the plate interface while cluster activity in the region of the Ptolemy trench is distributed along a nearly vertical structure throughout the crust extending down to the plate interface. Most clusters show swarm-like behaviour with seismic activity confined to only a few hours or days, without a dominant earthquake and with a power law distribution of the interevent times.For the largest cluster, precise relocations of the events using travel time differences of P- and S-waves derived from waveform cross correlations reveal migration of the hypocenters. This cluster is located in the region of the Ptolemy trench and migration occurs along the strike of the trench at  500 m/day.Relocated hypocenters as well as subtle differences in the waveforms suggest an offset between the hypocenters and thus the activation of distinct patches on the rupture surface. The observed microseismicity patterns may be related to fluids being transported along the plate interface and escaping towards the surface in zones of crustal weakness (Ptolemy structure), triggering swarm-like cluster activity along its way.  相似文献

从华北克拉通的中西部和东部发育的基性岩墙群获得三个精确定年的实际古地磁极位置(VGPs)。华北克拉通中西部恒山GU岩墙的斜锆石U-Pb年龄为1769±3Ma,该岩墙的古地磁给出古地磁极位置在北纬36°,东经247° (dp=2, dm=4); 华北克拉通东部DY岩墙的斜锆石U-Pb年龄为1620.8±6.9Ma, 获得的古地磁极位置为北纬6.9°东经81.9°(dp=4.31, dm=6.09); 东部另一条岩墙LW4的SHRIMP U-Pb 年龄为1157±18Ma, 获得的古地磁极位置为北纬27.1°东经162°(dp=15.8, dm=18.7)。通过将这三个从基性岩墙获得的华北克拉通古地磁极位置与加拿大地盾的中元古代视极移曲线对比,在中元古代早期(1800~1600Ma),华北克拉通与加拿大地盾一起同属哥伦比亚超大陆,而在中元古代晚期(1600~1200Ma),华北克拉通与加拿大地盾分离,响应哥伦比亚超大陆的最终裂解事件。  相似文献
