Abstract Orthopyroxene-bearing migmatites, exposed at the summit of Cone Peak in the Santa Lucia Range, California, offer an opportunity to explore potential links between granulite facies metamorphism and migmatite formation. Geothermobarometry indicates that the metamorphic temperatures and pressures were in the approximate ranges of 700–750° C and 7.0–7.5 kbar. The rocks at the summit comprise three domains: relatively coarse-grained, leucocratic veins; relatively fine-grained, biotite-enriched zones at the margins of the veins; and a biotite–hornblende-bearing host rock. Orthopyroxene is concentrated in the veins, which have also the highest ratio of anhydrous to hydrous minerals of the three rock types. The composition of the veins, together with their textures and modes, suggest that they formed through anatexis involving a dehydration-melting reaction which consumed hornblende and produced orthopyroxene. Variability in mineralogy and composition indicates that there was some local migration of magma along the veins before their final solidification. The biotite-enriched zones formed either by the concentration of residual biotite at the margins of the vein, or through the metasomatic conversion of hornblende (and/or pyroxene) to biotite, or by a combination of the two processes. Significant differences in the chemistry of the neosome (vein + biotite-enriched zone) and the host rock rule out simple dehydration melting in a local closed system. The model that explains best the mineralogical and chemical patterns involves triggering of melting by an influx of a low- a H2O mixed fluid which added K and Si to and removed Ca from the neosome.  相似文献

稀土元素地球化学分析表明,琼中麻粒岩可以分为"高Ti"麻粒岩(TiO2含量大于1.0%)和"低Ti"麻粒岩(TiO2含量低于1.0%)两种化学类型."高Ti"麻粒岩以稀土总量高,轻稀土高度富集,轻、重稀土强烈分馏为特征,稀土配分曲线呈右倾单斜型,与本区变基性火山岩的稀土分布特征相似;低"Ti"麻粒岩以稀土总量较低,轻稀土分馏强烈,但重稀土分馏不明显为特征,稀土配分曲线呈重稀土平坦的左高右低型,与许多浅成基性岩的稀土分布特征相似;认为琼中麻粒岩形成于晋宁期的可能性最大.两类麻粒岩的识别,有利于深化对琼中杂岩形成和演化过程的认识.  相似文献

Stable isotope data from three areas in the granulite facies terrains of Brazil are assembled and discussed. All the three areas (Jequié, Guaxupé and São José do Rio Pardo) are from the São Francisco Craton. The carbon isotope composition of the fluid inclusion CO2 in the Archean granulite terrain of Jequié indicate the participation of two distinct sources, an upper mantle source and an internal source of Archean organic matter. The isotope data may be interpreted in terms of the granulite genesis due to the intrusion of magma in the lower crust. The singularly uniform carbon isotope data for CO2 fluid inclusion of plutonic granulites is a clear indication of the magmatic addition of CO2-rich volatiles from deeper crustal sources. In the São José do Rio Pardo area sulfur and carbon isotope data of scapolites from the granulites imply the derivation of volatiles from internal sources. The whole rock oxygen isotope data of the amphibolite and granulite facies gneisses from Guaxupé indicate a small scale variation of d18O values, compatible with the chemical data, suggesting the preservation of pre-metamorphic oxygen isotope composition. The isotope data of the granulites from São Francisco Craton indicate non-pervasive fluid flow during metamorphism.  相似文献

Abstract Scapolite, wollastonite, calcite, diopside, grossular-andradite garnet and sphene occur in calc-silicate rocks in the granulite terrain of the Arunta Block, central Australia. This assemblage buffers the CO2 activity at a low value, so that any coexisting fluid phase must be H2O rich and CO2 poor ( X co2 = 0.2-0.3). In contrast, the H2O activity in the surrounding felsic and mafic granulites was low. Thus fluid activities during granulite facies metamorphism were locally buffered in various rock units and fluid flow appears to have been restricted or fluid may have been absent. Late retrograde rims of garnet and garnet-quartz separate phases formed in the high-grade stage. Formation of these rims would have required either an influx of water-rich fluid or a decrease in pressure. Evidence from the surrounding granulites shows that in one locality, the calc-silicate rocks had undergone late isobaric hydration; in another locality, minor uplift had occurred soon after peak P-T conditions. In both, scapolite had partly broken down to plagioclase-calite. A calc silicate rock from the granulite terrain of Enderby Land, Antarctica, contains scapolite, wollastonite, calcite, diopside, quartz and sphene; this assemblage also indicates low CO2 activities. In this rock, wollastonite has broken down to calcite-quartz, to indicate isobaric cooling without influx of hydrous fluid.  相似文献

Abstract Considering the minerals cordierite (Cd), sapphirine (Sa), hypersthene (Hy), garnet (Ga), spinel (Sp), sillimanite (Si) and corundum (Co) in the system FeO-MgO-Al2O3-SiO2 (FMAS), the stable invariant points are [Co], [Ga], [Cd] and [Sa]. Constraints imposed by experimental data for the system MAS indicate that under low P H2o conditions the invariant points occur at high temperature (> 900° C) and intermediate pressure (7-10 kbar). This temperature is higher than that commonly advocated for granulite facies metamorphism. In granulites Fe-Mg exchange geothermometers may yield temperatures of 100–150° C below peak metamorphic conditions and evidence for peak temperatures is best preserved by relict high-temperature assemblages and by Al-rich cores in orthopyroxene. Application of the FMAS grid to some well-documented granulite occurrences introduces important constraints on their P-T histories. Rocks of different bulk compositions, occurring in close proximity in the field, may record distinct segments of their P-T paths. This applies particularly to rocks with evidence for reaction in the form of coronas, symplectites and zoned minerals. Consideration of curved reaction boundaries and XMs isopleths may explain apparently contradictory results for the stability of cordierite obtained from low-temperature experiments and thermochemical calculations on the one hand and hightemperature experimental data on the other.  相似文献

The Central Zone (CZ) of the Limpopo Complex of southern Africais characterized by a complex deformational pattern dominatedby two types of fold geometries: large sheath folds and crossfolds. The sheath folds are steeply SSW-plunging closed structureswhereas the cross folds are north–south-oriented withnear-horizontal fold axes. Mg- and Al-rich granulites of the central Highland Complex,Sri Lanka preserve a range of reaction textures indicative ofa multistage PT history following an ultrahigh-temperaturemetamorphic peak. The granulites contain a near-peak assemblageof sapphirine–garnet–orthopyroxene–sillimanite–quartz–K-feldspar,which was later overprinted by intergrowth, symplectite andcorona textures involving orthopyroxene, sapphirine, cordieriteand spinel. Biotite-rims, kornerupine and orthopyroxene-rimson biotite are considered to be late assemblages. Thermobarometriccalculations yield an estimated PT of at least 1100°Cand 12 kbar for the near-peak metamorphism. Isopleths of Al2O3in orthopyroxene are consistent with a peak temperature above1150°C. The PT path consists of four segments. Initialisobaric cooling after peak metamorphism (Segment A), whichproduced the garnet–sapphirine–quartz assemblage,was followed by near-isothermal decompression at ultrahigh temperature(Segment B), which produced the multiphase symplectites. Furtherisobaric cooling (Segment C) resulted in the formation of biotiteand kornerupine, and late isothermal decompression (SegmentD) formed orthopyroxene rims on biotite. This evolution canbe correlated with similar PT paths elsewhere, but thereare not yet sufficient geochronological and structural dataavailable from the Highland Complex to allow the tectonic implicationsto be fully assessed. The geochemistry of the Leisure Bay Formation, Natal Metamorphic Province suggests that its protoliths were greywackes, pelites and arkoses that were deposited in an oceanic island arc environment. These rocks contain the mineral assemblage biotite + hypersthene + cordierite (with hercynite inclusions) + garnet + quartz + feldspar. Numerous generations of garnet genesis are evident from which a long history of metamorphism can be interpreted. M1 involved syn-D1 high temperature/low pressure metamorphism (4kb and >850oC) and dehydration melting to produce essentially anhydrous assemblages particularly in the vicinity of, and probably related to the intrusion of the Munster Suite sills. The inclusions of hercynite in cordierite and the garnet + quartz symplectites after hypersthene + plagioclase (550oC and 5kb) suggests isobaric cooling after M1. This indicates an anticlockwise P-T loop related to the early intrusion of subduction related calc-alkaline magmatic rocks. M2 involved syn-D2 dehydration melting of hydrous assemblages possibly related to the emplacement of many A-type rapakivi charnockite granitoids, which provided heat and loading. The D2 tectonism post-dated all lithologies in the region, except for syn- to late-D2 granitoid plutons, and is interpreted as a transpressional tectonothermal reworking of pre-existing (Proterozoic) crust at 1030Ma.  相似文献

大别山北部石榴辉石麻粒岩是一种基性麻粒岩,岩石中富含有大量CO_2、CH_4、H_2S、H_2O流体包裹体,及含子晶多相包裹体。首次在寄主矿物石榴石、透辉石发现有含固相的多相包裹体。经拉曼光谱及电镜分析,固相部分为石榴石,辉石、重晶石和铁的氧化物;气相成分为H_2O、CO、CO_2、H_2S、H_2、CH_4、C_2H_2等,均一温度分别为950℃、975℃。指示着石榴辉石麻粒岩在形成过程中,在还原气氛下曾经发生过局部深熔作用,产生在组成上近于石榴石、辉石的熔体。这种溶体被正在结晶的石榴石,透辉石所捕获。石榴石中早期的含石榴石子晶+CO_2多相包裹体其CO_2密度为0.65~0.626g/cm~3;二相的 CO_2包裹体,CO_2部分的均一温度26~28.2℃,为晚期捕获的低密度CO_2包裹体,密度为0.648~0.688g/cm~3。石英中三相H_2O-CO_2包裹体,Th=331~410℃,CO_2-水合物溶化温度7.3°~8.6℃,是一种低盐度包裹体,CO_2部分均一温度:25.7~28℃,CO_2密度0.65~0.698g/cm~3为早中期捕获的包裹体。整个岩石中未发现高密度CO_2流体包裹体。表明麻粒岩可以形成在低密度CO_2之中。H_2O-NaCl包体均一温度80~475℃,密度0.36~1.026g/cm~3,主要为晚期包裹体,少数高密度H_2O包裹体,为早期捕获的包裹体。通过流体包裹体等容线确立石榴辉石麻粒岩P-T轨迹为  相似文献
