The southern margin of Australia is a passive continental margin, formed during a Late Jurassic–Cretaceous rifting phase. The development of this passive margin is mainly associated with extensional processes that caused crustal thinning. In this work, we have measured the amount of extension and the stretching factor (β factor) across seven transect profiles approximately evenly distributed across the margin. The obtained results show that the amount of extension and the β factor along the margin vary from west to east. The lowest amount of extension, low–intermediate β factors and a very narrow margin are observed in the western part with 80 km of extension and is underlain mostly by the Archean Yilgarn Craton and the Albany–Fraser Orogen. The Gawler Craton in the centre of the south Australian margin is another region of low extension and low–intermediate β factor. The largest amount of extension (384 km) and the largest β factor (β = 1.88) are found in the eastern part of the passive margin in an area underlain by Phanerozoic Tasman Orogen units. Our results imply that there is a strong control of the age and thickness of the continental lithosphere on the style of rifting along the Australian passive margin. Rifting of old and cold lithosphere results in a narrow passive margin, with the formation of relatively few faults with relatively wide spacing, while rifting of younger, warmer lithosphere leads to wide rifting that is accommodated by a large number of faults with small spacing.  相似文献

扬子板块西北缘新元古代岩浆作用的研究对于探讨Rodinia超大陆的构造演化具有重要意义,对米仓山新民地区角闪辉长岩的岩石学和地球化学分析结果表明,岩石Si O2含量较低且变化范围较小,岩石富Al和Ca,低K、Ti、P,Mg#值中等,属于亚碱性低钾拉斑岩石系列。岩石具有稀土元素总量相对较低、相对富集轻稀土元素和轻重稀土元素分馏程度低的特征,具弱Eu正异常,δEu=1.03~2.36。岩石总体上富集大离子亲石元素(Rb、Ba、Sr),亏损高场强元素(Nb、Zr、Hf、Th等),87Sr/86Sr=0.703 858,143Nd/144Nd=0.512 617,εNd(t)=+3.1。综合区域地质、地球化学特征,该岩体岩浆起源于亏损地幔的部分熔融,在上升侵位过程中可能受到了地壳物质的混染。在这时期,扬子板块北缘处于汇聚环境,新民角闪辉长岩形成于弧后盆地的构造环境,是Rodinia超大陆在新元古代期间演化过程中岩浆作用的产物。  相似文献

全球早古生代造山带(Ⅳ):板块重建与Carolina超大陆   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2  
古元古代与显生宙的板块构造特征和旋回演化过程具有明显区别,反映出地质记录为两种不同的板块构造体制。早古生代为这两个时期的过渡阶段,其构造过程研究与板块重建是地球板块构造旋回机制和周期分析的关键。本文采用综合集成的方法,在总结对比罗迪尼亚超大陆裂解以来全球早古生代主要碰撞造山带的地质事件基础上,分析早古生代碰撞造山带的演化特征,总结出与冈瓦纳大陆拼合、劳俄大陆拼合、古中华陆块群增生相关的7期碰撞-增生造山事件群:Brasiliano、东非、Kuunga、东亚与原特提斯洋和古亚洲洋演化相关的的加里东期造山事件、经典加里东造山、中欧加里东造山、Appalachian造山。再在这7期造山事件群基础上,结合古地磁、古生物、古地理等资料,重建了新元古代-早古生代末全球板块的拼合过程:罗迪尼亚超大陆从新元古代的~950 Ma开始经历了3个阶段裂解,此时存在泛大洋、莫桑比克洋和古太平洋3个大洋,随后615~560 Ma Iapetus洋打开,~560 Ma波罗的陆块与西冈瓦纳裂离导致狭窄的Ran洋打开;~540 Ma南半球Brasiliano、东非和Kuunga造山运动导致冈瓦纳大陆分阶段最终完成拼贴;~500 Ma冈瓦纳大陆北缘西段的微陆块群局部向北裂离,导致Rheic洋和Tornquist洋打开,并于~420 Ma随经典加里东造山带和中欧缝合带形成导致Iapetus洋闭合,此时斯瓦尔巴特和英国可能位于格陵兰地盾东南缘,同时冈瓦纳大陆北缘东段华北为代表的微陆块基本拼合在冈瓦纳大陆北缘;此外,虽然425 Ma西伯利亚板块有远离聚合了的劳俄大陆的趋势,但晚奥陶世-早泥盆世南美和北美板块靠近,北美板块与环冈瓦纳北缘西段的地体拼合碰撞。在大约400 Ma时,南、北美洲的混合生物群和古地理重建显示两者非常接近,因此,推测此时存在一个初始的逐步稳定的超大陆的可能,本文称为Carolina超大陆,因为Carolina造山带是这个超大陆最终拼合的地带。并据此判断超大陆旋回为7亿年。  相似文献

The north trending rifts in southern Tibet represent the E–W extension of the plateau and confirming the initial rifting age is key to the study of mechanics of these rifts. Pagri–Duoqing Co graben is located at southern end of Yadong–Gulu rift, where the late Cenozoic sediments is predominately composed of fluvio-lacustrine and moraine. Based on the sedimentary composition and structures, the fluvio-lacustrine could be divided into three facies, namely, lacustrine, lacustrine fan delta and alluvial fan. The presence of paleo-currents and conglomerate components and the provenance of the strata around the graben indicate that it was Tethys Himalaya and High Himalaya. Electron spin resonance (ESR) dating and paleo-magnetic dating suggest that the age of the strata ranges from ca. 1.2 Ma to ca. 8 Ma. Optically stimulated luminescence (OSL) dating showed that moraine in the graben mainly developed from around 181–109 ka (late Middle Pleistocene). Combining previous data about the Late Cenozoic strata in other basins, it is suggested that 8–15 Ma may be the initial rifting time. Together with sediment distribution and drainage system, the sedimentary evolution of Pagri could be divided into four stages. The graben rifted at around 15–8 Ma due to the eastern graben-boundary fault resulting in the appearance of a paleolake. Following by a geologically quiet period about 8–2.5 Ma, the paleolake expanded from east to west at around 8–6 Ma reaching its maximum at ca. 6 Ma. Then, the graben was broken at about 2.5 Ma. At last, the development of the glacier separated the graben into two parts that were Pagri and Duoqing Co since the later stages of the Middle Pleistocene. The evolution process suggested that the former three stages were related to the tectonic movement, which determined the basement of the graben, while the last stage may have been influenced by glacial activity caused by climate change.  相似文献

采用LA-ICP-MS法分析了塔里木北缘库鲁克塔格一带二长花岗岩锆石U-Pb年龄,获得该二长花岗岩岩体的年龄为(832.3±3.3)Ma(MSWD=2.8,n=24)。岩石地球化学特征显示,二长花岗岩属于准铝质高钾钙碱性系列,为I型花岗岩。微量元素富集大离子亲石元素(LILE)Ba、K、Sr、U等,亏损高场强元素(HFSE)Nb、Ta、Ti、P等;稀土元素总体含量较低(29.88×10-6~63.57×10-6),具有弱Eu正异常(δEu=0.87~1.39),整体配分模式与下地壳一致。结合区域地质背景对岩浆岩地球化学特征进行综合分析,认为二长花岗岩形成于岛弧环境。区域构造演化特征指示832 Ma该区洋壳已经开始俯冲,使得这一地区的地壳加厚,同时地幔柱的上涌加热作用导致古老地壳物质发生部分熔融而形成该期花岗岩。  相似文献

珠江口盆地珠一坳陷在中始新世裂陷期文昌组沉积早、晚期之间存在明显的构造转换,该构造事件对古近系源-汇体系的形成和演变有重大影响。基于研究区地震、钻井、测井等资料的综合分析,本文认为构造转换控制了裂陷期源-汇体系的盆山地貌、物源供给、搬运方向及沉积样式等基本要素,并影响深层古近系储层条件。而且在构造转换的制约下,研究区发育物源迁移型和断裂转换型两种源-汇模式,前者的主物源在构造转换影响下发生变化,沉积边界、可容空间及沉积样式也随之改变,形成叠合连片的有利储集区;后者物源供给、搬运、堆积等在时空上发生有序变化,形成扇-洲-滩共存的复合沉积体系,储层条件分带性较强。因此,探讨构造转换控制下的源-汇体系特征及控砂模式,对寻找古近系优质储层有重要经济价值。  相似文献

新疆富蕴县西部上石炭统喀喇额尔齐斯组的变质火山岩,是一套多旋回双峰式古裂谷型火山岩.基性成员为玄武岩。酸性成员为流纹岩.基性岩套由拉斑玄武岩-碱性玄武岩组成.微量元素分配模式证明了地幔成分不均一性;玄武岩浆来自石榴二辉橄榄岩44%的分批熔融;证明古裂谷是在岛弧基础上演化形成。从而说明额尔齐斯断裂带经历了俯冲-碰撞-裂谷三个演化阶段.晚期的碱性玄武岩喷发,标志裂谷作用的消亡.  相似文献

Rifting dynamics at spreading axes is governed by two processes: the large-scale plate divergence and the local magma accumulation in the crust-mantle transition layer. Both evolve simultaneously. A model is developed particularly for the situation in Iceland where a well studied rifting episode occurred in the Krafla volcanic system 1975–1984. Both the divergence and the buoyant rise of magma create tensile deviatoric stress in the axial region, but while divergence generates an altogether extensional stress field, uprising of buoyant melt produces tension only near the axis but compression of the sides. The buoyant rise is driven by the differential pressure gradient in rock and melt. The processes are studied with a two-dimensional finite-element routine. Presently thermal effects are neglected. The model parameters are density difference, size of the buoyant body, externally applied stress field, mechanical properties of rock and melt. Relatively small amounts of divergence and small increases of buoyancy are shown to generate axial tension which can overcome the tensile strength. Axial tension produced by buoyant bodies can even overcome lateral compression. Observed long intervals of quiescence require either large rock strength, quasi-continuous stress relaxation, small buoyant bodies, and/or a compressive deviatoric stress normal to the axis during much of the time between rifting episodes. Buoyant rise and injection of melt must be important in generating compression.  相似文献

本文描述了梵净山区新元古界下部鸟叶组与甲路组之间的喀斯特不整合的空间分布、地质特征,从而进一步确认了它的存在;指出该不整合是格林威尔碰撞造山之后强烈隆升的产物,代表了Rodinia超大陆在新元古代裂解前地壳经历的隆起并遭受剥蚀侵蚀的历程,从而对研究该时期地层的空间变异、沉积环境,特别是探讨Rodinia超大陆岩相演化都具有重要的科学意义。  相似文献
