The Platypus Tuff Bed in the Permian Moranbah Coal Measures provides a basin‐wide marker horizon traceable for over 300 km along strike. The bed is a tephra event unit, the product of a large‐scale volcanic eruptive episode involving a pyroclastic volume > 10 km3. The relatively even thickness (~1–1.5 m) of the tuff across the entire northern Bowen Basin (~10 000 km2) implies a distant source. The tuff is ash‐rich and its original geochemistry has been compromised by diagenetic alteration. Crystal content (10–15%) is dominated by quartz, suggesting a rhyolitic association. SHRIMP U–Pb analysis of zircons indicates an age of 258.9 ± 2.7 Ma for the Platypus Tuff Bed, confirming the Late Permian age that has generally been assigned to the Blackwater Group. The age framework now apparent for the coal‐bearing Blackwater Group suggests an average depositional rate ranging from ~133 m/106 years for its eastern depocentre in the northern Bowen Basin to ~70 m/106 years in more marginal settings to the west.  相似文献

Using zircon SHRIMP U-Pb dating method in this paper, we conduct the SHRIMP U Pb ages of tuff at the bottom of the Nanying’er Group, Wangjiashan area, Jingyuan County, Gansu Province and acquire a set of weighted average age of (244.9±2.8)Ma. Combined with the feature of Cathodoluminescence images and Th/U specific value of zircon, we believe that the sedimentary age of Wangjiashan tuff is (244.9±2.8)Ma. High precision and high confidence isotopic age data fully demonstrate that the bottom of Nanying’er Group exists with the early of middle Triassic strata. The author proposes that the Wangjiashan tuff and its hereinafter strata should be incorporated in Dingjiayao Formation. Meanwhile, it can be confirmed that the Wangjiashan Tuff and the Baojishan tuff are the deposition product of the same volcanic eruption. It can be used as a marker bed of the regional stratigraphic division and correlation. The above research results are beneficial for the upper and middle Triassic stratigraphic division and correlation of Hexi corridor region, and its stratigraphic significance for the final establishment of Triassic chronostratigraphic division and correlation framework of China’s northern continental strata.  相似文献

火山喷发的多期性是导致凝灰岩潜山纵向多期风化壳(带)发育的重要原因。从地球化学、测井响应特征和岩石学 证实了二连盆地凝灰岩潜山多期风化壳(带)的存在及其特征:(1)哈31井凝灰岩地层在1062~1080 m和1165~1179 m两 个井段表现为 K,Na,Ca 等元素淋滤,CIA 指数较大,而 Al,Fe,Mn,P 等元素相对富集,S/A 指数变小;(2)这两个层段 测井响应表现为风化壳的特征,而且其测井曲线在纵向上具旋回特征并有连井上的可对比性;(3)不同喷发期次形成的凝 灰岩结构、组分以及粒度不同。凝灰岩潜山多期风化壳(带)的存在对潜山油气藏的形成具有重要作用,成藏效应主要表 现在储集层垂向分带性、风化壳油藏(晚期风化壳中)和内幕油藏(早期风化壳中)纵向叠置和复式油气聚集成藏模式等 3 个方面。文中对多期凝灰岩古风化壳的认识扩展了火山岩潜山的勘探深度,为火山岩潜山内幕油气勘探提供了理论依据。  相似文献

The Cretaceous Kusandong Tuff, Korea, is a thin (1–5 m thick) but laterally extensive (~ 200 km) silicic ignimbrite emplaced in a fluviolacustrine basin adjacent to a continental volcanic arc. The tuff has been used as an excellent key bed because of its great lateral continuity and unique lithology, characterized by the virtual absence of juvenile clasts and an abundance of quartz and feldspar crystals (up to 55–73 vol.%). The tuff is mostly massive and ungraded and locally shows crude internal layering, basal inverse grading and near-top normal grading of crystals, either erosional or non-erosional lower surfaces, and flat-lying to imbricated grain fabrics. Fragile intraformational clasts of mudstone and tuff are also included. These features provide only ambiguous information on the properties of the responsible pyroclastic density currents: i.e. whether they were dense and laminar or dilute and turbulent. The overall lateral continuity and sheet-like geometry of the tuff suggests, however, that the transport system of the currents was highly expanded, dilute, and turbulent. A plug-flow or slab-flow model cannot explain the origin of crude internal layering, imbricated grain fabrics, and the high crystal content, which is most likely the result of vigorous sorting processes within a dilute and turbulent current. Features indicative of deposition from a dense and laminar transporting medium are locally present, suggesting that a dense and laminar depositional system could develop locally at the base of the dilute and turbulent transport system. The virtual absence of juvenile clasts in the tuff is interpreted to be due to rapid ascent, sudden decompression, and full fragmentation of silicic magma into fine glass shards and crystals. Scarcity of basement-derived accidental components together with the absence of pumiceous fallout deposits beneath the tuff is interpreted to be due to shallow-level fragmentation of magma followed by immediate generation of pyroclastic density currents from shallow-level blasts at the onset of eruption. The eruption occurred through multiple vent sites in a short period of time, producing a seemingly single but actually composite ignimbrite unit. Such an eruption was probably possible because of a regional tectonic event within the basin or in its vicinity. It is proposed that a composite ignimbrite with the characteristics of the Kusandong Tuff can be an exemplary product of syntectonic volcanism that can provide an insight into the interpretation of structural and stratigraphic evolution of a sedimentary basin.  相似文献

为了解海底浮岩气孔充填物对全岩微量元素组成的影响,并获得有效的海底浮岩前处理方法,对冲绳海槽中部的浮岩碎成大于5 cm,1~2 cm及小于5 mm的碎块分别进行前处理,然后通过扫描电镜(SEM)和X射线衍射光谱(XRD)分析对清洗的效果进行观察对比。结果表明,对大块浮岩直接清洗以及将浮岩碎成厘米级小块后清洗都难以将浮岩气孔内充填的细粒沉积物去除干净,而对浮岩碎成毫米级(5 mm)颗粒后再清洗可以有效清除浮岩气孔内的充填物。本文所确定的一套有效的海底浮岩前处理方法总结如下:(1)将小于5 mm的浮岩颗粒置于超声波清洗机内用蒸馏水清洗,每隔15 min换一次水,直到清洗样品后的水足够清澈;(2)将样品先后浸入无水乙醇和稀盐酸溶液中,分别去除有机质和次生碳酸盐、铁氧化物;(3)将浮岩样品置于40℃超纯水中浸泡7 d左右,并每天换水,直至向上层清液加硝酸银溶液无白色沉淀出现。XRD分析表明,海底浮岩气孔中充填物的矿物组成包括斜长石、石英等。少量的气孔充填物对浮岩全岩的微量元素配分模式影响不大,但会造成Pb、Sr等元素含量的增加,因此可能会对浮岩全岩的Pb-Sr同位素组成造成干扰。  相似文献

通过物探勘查并结合水文地质资料分析,研究了广西隆安县岩溶石山区断裂带、溶洞、岩溶管道三种储水构造的地质-地球物理模型及其电性响应特征。受构造控制或侵蚀基准面变化的影响,广西隆安岩溶石山区形成多层溶洞及岩溶管道系统,地下水主要赋存于溶洞、管道和构造裂隙中。地球物理上,断裂带及多层洞道系统均表现为纵向低阻条带的电性特征,但储水构造充填物或是水或是泥,难以用电阻率参数加以区分。为提高解译精度,结合工作区的水文地质条件,对物探资料进行细致入微的分析,并在勘察工作中采用在高阻中找低阻、低阻中找高阻的找水定井方法,基本避开了泥质充填的难题,提高了成井率。   相似文献

中伊朗盆地形成和发展受特提斯洋张力以及阿拉伯板块和伊朗板块边缘聚力的复合控制, 其演化经历了基底裂谷(Z1)、被动边缘(Z2-T2)、裂谷盆地(T3)、弧后前陆(J-N11)、陆内坳陷—挤压改造(N12-Q)等不同阶段, 层序充填包括1个一级层序、3个二级层序, 显示明显的纵向叠加、横向复合的复式特点。作为中伊朗盆地弧后前陆演化阶段沉积产物, 库姆组层序充填总体呈现碳酸盐岩、火山岩-火山碎屑岩、陆源碎屑岩“混积”的特点。库姆组包括S1、S2、S3、S4 4个三级层序, 其充填演化经历了Chattian期、Aquitanian早期、Aquitanian晚期、Burdigalian期4次三级海平面变化事件, 最大海平面时期(mfs)位于Burdigalian早期。  相似文献

the Neapolitan Yellow Tuff (NYT) (12 ka BP) is considered to be the product of a single eruption. Two different members (A and B) have been identified and can be correlated around the whole of Campi Flegrei. Member A is made up of at least 6 fall units including both ash and lapilli horizons. The basal stratified ash unit (A1) is interpreted to be a phreatoplinian fall deposit, since it shows a widespread dispersal (>1000 km2) and a constant thickness over considerable topography. The absence of many lapilli fall units in proximal and medial areas testifies to the erosive power of the intervening pyroclastic surges. The overlying member B was formed by many pyroclastic flows, radially distributed around Campi Flegrei, that varied widely in their eruptive and emplacement mechanisms. In some of the most proximal exposures coarse scoria and lithic-rich deposits, sometimes welded, have been identified at the base of member B. Isopach and isopleth maps of fall-units, combined with the distribution of the coarse proximal facies, indicate that the eruptive vent was located in the NE area of Campi Flegrei. It is considered that the NYT eruption produced collapse of a caldera approximately 10 km diameter within Campi Flegrei. The caldera rim, located by geological and borehole evidence, is now largely buried by the products of more recent eruptions. Initiation of caldera collapse may have been contemporaneous with the start of the second phase (member B). It is suggested that there was a single vent throughout the eruption rather than the development of multiple or ring vents. Chemical data indicate that different levels of a zoned trachyte-phonolite magma chamber were tapped during the eruption. The minimum volume of the NYT is calculated to be about 50 km3 (DRE), of which 35 km3 (70%) occurs within the caldera.  相似文献

Twenty-first century advances in both the analytical procedures and instrumentation used in geochronology promise age accuracy better than ±1‰, but realizing this potential requires knowledge of decay constants (λ) that exceed this level. Given the paucity of improved recent measurements of λ, the community has experimented with hybrid methodologies utilizing data largely generated during the 1970s. In this article, we perform a systematic review of laboratory decay constant determinations relevant to geochronology (i.e. 87Rb, 147Sm, 176Lu, 230Th, 232Th, 235U, and 238U), focusing on methodological consistency. For radioisotopes for which multiple studies are available, results are combined through a random effects model to yield the best available values and associated uncertainties. Unfortunately, despite its vital role in modern geochronology, only one experimental determination of 238U decay met our criteria for consideration, significantly limiting the ability to assess its reliability. Thus, utilizing λ238 as an anchor for establishing other decay constants (e.g. 40K, 176Lu, and spontaneous 238U fission) places an unverified result at the core of geochronology. For geochronology to attain its greatest potential, more and better laboratory determinations of decay constants are required, along with a community methodology that permits us to continuously take advantage of new data.  相似文献

The Dayizishan scoria cone and Jinlongdingzi scoria cone in the Longgang volcanic swarm, northeastern China are comprised of basaltic fallout tephra that derived from sub - Plinian eruptions. The airborn tephra formed a scoria cone and tephra sheets in geomorphological character. The fallout tephra deposits consist of basaltic scoria, bomb, ultramafic xenolith and lithic fragments. The tephra deposits in the tephra sheets developed plane parallel bedding and graded bedding. The size parameters of tephra changed with distance away from source and the lapse of time regularly.The Dalongwan tuff ring and Longquanlongwan tuff ring in Longgang volcanic swarm are comprised of base surge deposits, formed by phreatomagmatic explosions. The base surge deposits are composed of basaltic lapilli, pisolites and tuff.The sedimentary structure, for instance, dunelike structure, chute and pool structure, U - shaped channel and cross bedding, massive beds and sandwave beds etc. are recognized.  相似文献
