We carried out viscosity measurements and sampling of a crystal suspension derived from alkali olivine basalt from the Matsuura district, SW Japan, at subliquidus temperatures from 1230 °C to 1140 °C under 1 atm with NNO oxygen buffered conditions. Viscosity increased from 31 to 1235 Pa s with a decrease in temperature from 1230 to 1140 °C. On cooling, olivine first appeared at 1210 °C, followed by plagioclase at 1170 °C. The crystal content of the sample attained 31 vol.% at 1140 °C (plagioclase 22%, olivine 9%). Non-Newtonian behaviors, including thixotropy and shear thinning, were pronounced in the presence of tabular plagioclase crystals. The cause of such behavior is discussed in relation to shear-induced changes in melt–crystal textures. Relative viscosities, ηr (= ηs / ηm, where ηs and ηm are the viscosities of the suspension and the melt, respectively), were obtained by calculating melt viscosities from the melt composition and temperature at 1 atm using the equation proposed by Giordano and Dingwell [Giordano, D., Dingwell, D.B., 2003. Non-Arrhenian multicomponent melt viscosity: a model. Earth and Planetary Science Letters, 208, 337–349.]. The obtained relative viscosities are generally consistent with the Einstein–Roscoe relation, which represents ηr for suspensions that contain equant and equigranular crystals, even though the crystal suspension analyzed in the present experiments contained tabular plagioclase and granular olivine of various grain sizes. This consistency is attributed to the fact that the effect of crystal shape was counterbalanced by the effect of the dispersion of crystal size. The applicability of the Einstein–Roscoe equation with respect to crystal shape is discussed on the basis of the present experimental results. Our experiments and those of Sato [Sato, H., 2005. Viscosity measurement of subliquidus magmas: 1707 basalt of Fuji volcano. Journal of Mineralogical and Petrological Sciences, 100, 133–142.] show that the relationship between relative viscosity and crystal fraction is consistent with the Einstein–Roscoe relationship for axial ratios that are smaller than the critical value of 4–6.5, but discrepancies occur for higher ratios.  相似文献

A supergene REE deposit closely interrelated with the weathering of the Emeishan basalt formation was produced in the Xuanwei formation, the overlying stratum of the late Permian Emeishan basalt formation in West Guizhou, China. The host strata consist primarily of offwhite kaolinite clay rock and/or grayish black carbonaceous shale. Mineralogical analyses reveal that kaolinites are the major minerals in REE ores with small amounts of smectite, illite, boehmite, hornblende, pyrophyllite, calcite, dolomite and/or iron-bearing minerals, with a certain proportion of feldspar, quartz crystal debris and noncrystal debris. Geochemical analyses reveal high enrichment of trace elements like Cu, Nb, Ta, Zr and Hf. The host strata feature considerable lithological variability, close interrelation of the REE grade with the lithology and uneven spatial distribution of the REE ores, which are mostly found in Lufang, Maojiaping and Zhangsigou profiles of Weining County and can be as thick as 20 m. Of the five stratigraphic profiles, 48% have their whole-rock ∑REE higher than 1000 ppm. The REE in this framework consists primarily of ion adsorbed phases and REE-rich residual independent mineral phases. Comprehensive analyses suggest that the source may not only include the Emeishan basalt, but the intermediate acid volcanic rocks evolved from the Emeishan basalt in the later periods; the hydrothermal alteration subsequently imposed on the host strata might have boosted the mineralization of the rare earth. The preliminary genetic model should have been: the denudation product from the weathering of the parent rock was migrated to the sea-continental margin at the continent side carrying huge quantities of REE with it and was preserved by the quick marine transgression. The host strata consist primarily of kaolinite clay rock and/or carbonaceous shale, which are so far believed to be a sedimentary type REE deposit closely interrelated with weathering effect.  相似文献

为查明二连盆地伊和高勒地区地层结构特征、砂体分布情况,探讨音频大地电磁法(AMT)在玄武岩覆盖区铀矿勘查中的应用效果,项目组在该区域布设两条测线,通过数据反演得到两条剖面的电性分布特征,经推断解释电性剖面,圈定了深部砂体,分析了基底起伏、断裂展布等地质要素。经钻孔资料验证,本次AMT探测结果可靠,可以清晰地反映盆地基底起伏、地层结构及砂体分布情况,为伊和高勒地区铀资源潜力预测及评价提供了重要依据。  相似文献

野外地质调查发现,扬子西缘昭觉—美姑一带存在多处峨眉山玄武岩组古火山机构,为研究其火山喷发旋回与方式提供了良好窗口。古火山机构的岩石类型主要由巨厚玄武岩以及少量的火山碎屑岩和火山碎屑熔岩组成,且均具火山颈爆发相、溢流相和火山洼地相堆积构造特征。系统的地质剖面研究表明,峨眉山玄武岩组存在3次快速喷发亚旋回及25个火山韵律,亚旋回之间不存在火山间歇期。其中,第一亚旋回和第三亚旋回的喷发方式均以爆发相与溢流相为主,而第二亚旋回则以溢流相为主。峨眉山玄武岩组古火山机构的系统厘定和研究,揭示了峨眉山大火成岩省的火山喷发方式和旋回韵律特征,为研究与峨眉山玄武岩组相关的成矿成藏作用提供了重要地层资料。  相似文献

黔西北峨眉山玄武岩顶部普遍发育Fe-Al岩系。为查明峨眉山玄武岩顶部Fe-Al岩系特征,探讨其三稀元素富集特点,开展了针对峨眉山玄武岩顶部Fe-Al岩系的野外调查。调查结果显示: 当峨眉山玄武岩上覆地层分别为宣威组或龙潭组时,峨眉山玄武岩顶部风化壳Fe-Al岩系表现出明显差异。样品测试结果表明: Fe-Al岩系内Sc、Nb、REE等三稀元素含量丰富,具有很好的找矿前景,宣威组Fe-Al岩系内Sc、Nb、REE含量更高,尤其是Nb和REE。Fe-Al岩系内Sc、Nb、REE等三稀元素富集为峨眉山玄武岩风化初始富集和后期改造再次富集作用的结果。  相似文献

The Cenozoic basalts with OIB-affinity in northern marginal region of the North China Craton are thought to experience minor even no crustal contamination during the magma evolution. The whole-rock Sr-Nd-Pb-Hf isotopes are attributed to a two-component mixing between depleted and enriched mantle sources, while the major element variations are controlled by the fractional crystallization of olivine and clinopyroxene. However, in this study, the new Os isotopic data proposes an opposite model for the Cenozoic basalts in northern marginal region of the North China Craton. In this model, the Jining basalts were contaminated by the Archean mafic rocks during the magma storage and ascent. The crustal contamination process is supported by (1) the highly radiogenic Os isotopic compositions, and (2) the positive correlation between 187Os/188Os and 1/Os of the Jining basalts. By modeling the Os isotopic composition of the basalts, an incorporation of < 10% mafic granulites/amphibolites to the parental magma can successfully explain the initial values of highly radiogenic Os. In contrast, the unradiogenic and uniform Os isotopic compositions of the Chifeng basalts suggest negligible crustal contamination. Os isotopic data acts as an indicator of crustal contamination during magma evolution, providing us a novel insight into the evolution of the intra-continental OIB-like basalts worldwide.©2021 China Geology Editorial Office.  相似文献

在岩浆结晶演化过程中,橄榄石是最早结晶的矿物之一,其化学成分不仅受到母岩浆成分的控制,而且还受到岩浆的结晶分异、部分熔融程度、压力、岩浆混合作用以及橄榄石与残余岩浆相互作用等因素的影响。学术界基本的认识是,橄榄石的成分主要与源区、分离结晶作用以及岩浆演化程度有关,是鉴别玄武岩是否为原始岩浆的重要证据,根据橄榄石的Fo值可以恢复岩浆是富镁还是富铁的。之前的学术界很少认为橄榄石与其形成的构造环境有关。本文在对全球大洋中脊玄武岩(MORB)、洋岛玄武岩(OIB)、岛弧玄武岩(IAB)中橄榄石主量元素特征进行了研究和对比后发现,橄榄石也有判断构造环境的功能,尤其OIB 橄榄石在许多元素含量上与MORB 和IAB 的橄榄石不同,可以通过Ni、P、Mg、Fe、K 和Mn等元素之间的关系进行较好的区分。目前的情况是,OIB 与IAB 中的橄榄石在某些情况下也能够区分开,但MORB 与IAB 中的橄榄石很难区分,这是需要进一步研究的。全球全体数据研究表明,OIB 的橄榄石富Ni是一个很重要的现象,本文认为,MORB 和IAB 来源于亏损的上地幔,故其橄榄石的Fo值高;OIB来源于富集的下地幔,可能Fe-Ni地核对OIB橄榄石化学成分有比较明显的影响,故导致OIB的橄榄石贫Fo和富Ni。  相似文献

玉树杂岩带位于金沙江缝合带和甘孜-理塘缝合带的结合部位,对其物质组成进行详细解剖,有望为揭示青藏高原中北部的特提斯演化过程提供重要信息。本文报道该带内歇武玄武岩的主量、微量和Sr-Nd同位素数据,结合区域岩浆事件讨论该区构造演化过程。研究表明歇武玄武岩为钙碱性系列,具有较高的MgO和Cr、Ni含量,富集K、Rb、Ba、Sr等大离子亲石元素,轻微亏损Nb、Ta、Ti等高场强元素,具有高Sr正Nd同位素组成,为流体交代的尖晶石橄榄岩部分熔融的产物;歇武玄武岩具有岛弧玄武岩的特征,是甘孜-理塘特提斯支洋初始俯冲的产物。结合区域资料,认为玉树杂岩带的物质组成与甘孜-理塘缝合带相类似,明显不同于金沙江缝合带。从二叠纪到三叠纪,玄武岩岩浆源区中石榴石含量逐步减少,最后转变为尖晶石橄榄岩,反映该区已经从大陆岩石圈地幔伸展为正常大洋岩石圈地幔。这一转变与弧后岩石圈减薄、洋盆扩张的构造过程相对应。  相似文献
