Abstract

The turbidite-filled, Lower Devonian Cobar Basin is characterised through a detrital zircon study. Uranium–Pb age data for six samples were combined with published data to show the basin has a unique age spectrum characterised by a subordinate Middle Ordovician (ca 470?Ma) peak superimposed on a dominant ca 500?Ma peak. Maximum depositional ages for 3 samples were ca 425?Ma, close to the published Lower Devonian (Lochkovian 419–411?Ma) biostratigraphic ages. A minor ca 1000?Ma zircon population was also identified. The major source of the 500?Ma zircons was probably the local Ordovician metasedimentary basement, which was folded, thickened and presumably exposed during the ca 440?Ma Benambran Orogeny. The ca 470?Ma age peak reflects derivation from Middle Ordovician (Phase 2) rocks of the Macquarie Arc to the east. The I-type Florida Volcanics, located ~50?km eastward from the Cobar Basin, contains distinctive Middle and Late Ordovician zircon populations, considered to be derived from deeply underthrust Macquarie Arc crust. Protracted silicic magmatism occurred before, during and after Cobar Basin deposition, indicating that the basin formed by subduction-related processes in a back-arc setting, rather than as a continental rift.  相似文献

源汇系统(Source- to- sink system)是将物源区的构造剥蚀、沉积物输送区的沉积物搬运和沉积区的沉积物堆积等视为一个完整系统。沉积物的源区恢复和附近水系重建是源汇研究的热点问题,沉积物碎屑锆石U- Pb定年是源汇系统研究的有效方法之一。南海北部与其周边地区构成了一个完整的源汇系统,通过源汇分析可获得南海北部各盆地沉积物来源及周边主要河流的演化历史。本文通过总结前人在南海北部主要盆地新生代沉积物碎屑锆石U- Pb研究成果,探讨珠江、红河和昆莺琼古河的新生代演化历史。珠江最早的支流北江和东江形成于早渐新世,晚渐新世溯源到西江上游的红水河、左江和右江,中新世溯源到西江中游柳江、桂江和上游的北盘江、南盘江。在晚白垩世—古近纪红河属于青藏高原东缘大型向东南或向南流河流的一部分,之后由于地貌变化形成现今红河。昆莺琼古河在早渐新世开始发育影响到珠江口盆地,在晚渐新世昆莺琼古河雏形已经基本形成,中新世起昆莺琼古河可能向西有一定程度的退缩。  相似文献

ABSTRACT

U-Pb detrital zircon age patterns are presented for nine samples of metapelites from the metamorphic basement of south-central Chile between 37° and 40°S, along with detrital zircon ages for a sample from the Piedra Santa metamorphic complex and a crystallization age of the Chachil plutonic complex, farther east in Argentina. Two distinct zircon age patterns are identified. One is a pattern with a dominant population of zircons at ca. 470 Ma (Ordovician), a widespread presence of Mesoproterozoic ages (1200 ? 1000 Ma), and a Carboniferous maximum deposition age indicated by the youngest zircon population. The second pattern is drastically different, with a main population of Permian zircons, a 290–250 Ma maximum deposition age, and a minor contribution of Pennsylvanian age zircons. Our results, coupled with previously reported metamorphic ages, show that the patterns reflect the presence of different tectonic blocks separated by the Mocha-Villarrica Fault Zone at 39°S. Metapelites north of this structure have the Ordovician-dominated pattern characteristic of the Western Series of the Paleozoic basement, and those south of the fault show the Permian-dominated pattern observed in the younger high-pressure metapelites from the Bahía Mansa metamorphic complex. The Piedra Santa metamorphic complex also shows the Ordovician-dominated pattern and was intruded by the Chachil plutonic complex dated here at ca. 303 Ma. Therefore, the Piedra Santa complex is interpreted as coeval with the Chilean metamorphic basement. The present dislocation of blocks with different ages is attributed to continental-scale dextral strike-slip tectonics along the Huincul Fault Zone, Argentina, which extends to the west as the Mocha-Villarrica Fault Zone in Chile.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

Collision of Gondwana and Laurentia in the late Palaeozoic created new topography, drainages, and foreland basin systems that controlled sediment dispersal patterns on southern Laurentia. We utilize sedimentological and detrital zircon data from early Permian (Cisuralian/Leonardian) submarine-fan deposits in the Midland Basin of west Texas to reconstruct sediment dispersal pathways and palaeogeography. New sedimentological data and wire-line log correlation suggest a portion of the early Permian deposits have a southern entry point. A total of 3259 detrital zircon U-Pb and 357 εHf data from 12 samples show prominent groups of zircon grains derived from the Appalachian (500–270 Ma) and Grenville (1250–950 Ma) provinces in eastern Laurentia and the peri-Gondwana terranes (800–500 Ma) incorporated in the Alleghanian-Ouachita-Marathon orogen. Other common zircon groups of Mesoproterozoic-Archaean age are also present in the samples. The detrital zircon data suggest throughout the early Permian, Appalachia and Gondwana detritus was delivered by a longitudinal river system that flowed along the Appalachian-Ouachita-Marathon foreland into the Midland Basin. Tributary channels draining the uplifted Ouachita-Marathon hinterland brought Gondwana detritus into the longitudinal river with headwaters in the Appalachians or farther northeast. This drainage extended downstream westward and delivered sediments into the Permian Basin near the west terminus of the Laurentia-Gondwana suture. Estimated rates of deposition and proportions of zircons from more local (Grenville) versus more distal (Pan-African) sources indicate that river strength decreased throughout early Permian time. Primary sediment delivery pathway was augmented by minor input from the Ancestral Rocky Mountains and wind deflation of fluvial sediments north and east of the basin. Slope failure associated with early Permian deposition in the southeastern margin of the Midland Basin triggered gravity flows leading to submarine fan deposition.  相似文献

碎屑锆石研究是探讨其碎屑物质来源、源区特征、沉积时代和形成环境的一种有效途径。笔者通过对新疆东部哈尔里克山南麓石炭纪砂岩的47粒碎屑锆石SHRIMPU-Pb定年研究,获得的年龄为388~949Ma,其主体为418~482Ma。结合锆石的矿物学特征、CL图像特点以及哈尔里克山区域地质资料,得出如下结论:(1)哈尔里克山南麓所研究的砂岩中最年轻的碎屑锆石年龄是(388±9)Ma,这意味着这套地层不老于中泥盆世,结合区域地质资料,笔者认为这套沉积岩应是在晚石炭世沉积的;(2)所研究的砂岩的碎屑物质主要来源于哈尔里克山早古生代与岛弧演化相关的岩浆岩;(3)哈尔里克山经历了中奥陶世—早志留世与康古尔塔格洋壳残片代表的洋岩石圈板块向北俯冲有关的岛弧、石炭纪弧后盆地和晚石炭世末期弧后隆起的构造演化历史;晚石炭世末期弧后隆起是导致哈尔里克山与博格达山现今地质差异的主要原因。  相似文献

Baihua meta-igneous complex consists mainly of pyroxenite-gabbro(diorite)-diorite-quartz diorite. They form a complete comagmatic evolutionary series. The geochemical characteristics of basic-interme- diate basic igneous rocks indicate that they belong to a tholeiite suite. The REE distribution pattern is nearly flat type and LREE is slightly enriched type, and their primitive mantle-normalized and MORB-normalized trace element spider diagrams are generally similar; the LIL elements (LILE) Cs, Ba, Sr, Th and U are enriched, but Rb, K and the HFSEs Nb, P, Zr, Sm, Ti and Y are relatively depleted. All these show comagmatic evolution and origin characteristics. The tectonics environment discrimination of trace element reveals that these igneous complexes formed in an island-arc setting. The LA-ICP-MS single-zircons U-Pb age of Baihua basic igneous complex is 434.6±1.5 Ma (MSWD = 1.3), which proves that the formation time of the island-arc type magmatite in the northern zone of West Qinling is Late Ordovician or Early Silurian, also reveals that the timing of subduction of paleo-ocean basin represented by the Guanzizhen ophiolite and resulting island-arc-type magmatic activities is probably Middle-Late Ordovician to Early Silurian.  相似文献

准噶尔盆地基底的属性和时代,长期以来一直是地质界激烈争论的问题。根据区域地质背景分析,准噶尔盆地东北缘卡拉麦里蛇绿岩带南侧出露的一套基本连续的、被置于中志留统-下石炭统的浅海相陆源碎屑沉积岩系的物源区,位于准噶尔盆地东部盆地堆积物之下。为此选择其中被1:20万区调置于中泥盆世卡拉麦里组上部层位的砂岩进行碎屑锆石SHRIMP U-Pb 定年研究,以期获得准噶尔盆地东部基底时代和属性的信息。测定的86颗碎屑锆石、89个点的年龄分布范围从(327±8)Ma 至(3073±10)Ma;其中碎屑锆石的表面年龄主要集中分布在320Ma~540Ma,显示出多峰的特征,其主峰为 365Ma,次要的峰分别为460~480Ma、510~520Ma 和530~540Ma。该样品中还含有至少22粒表面年龄大于550Ma 的碎屑锆石,其中550~690Ma 的碎屑锆石有4粒,827Ma~1083Ma 的碎屑锆石有8粒,1513Ma 和1700Ma 锆石各1粒,1942Ma~2051Ma 的锆石有2粒,2464~2490Ma 和2876Ma~3073Ma 的碎屑锆石各3粒。根据样品的岩石学特征和碎屑锆石的矿物学特征及表面年龄,结合区域岩浆活动的分析,我们获得如下初步结论:(1)所研究砂岩的沉积时代不是泥盆纪的,可能是早石炭世晚期,其源区位于准噶尔盆地东部;(2)源区地质体组成主体是奥陶纪至石炭纪活动陆缘岩浆岩,寒武纪至新元古代中期和新元古代早期至中元古代等时期的岩浆杂岩等组成,以及推测的少量早前寒武纪杂岩;表明准噶尔盆地东部的基底为奠基在前奥陶纪陆壳基底之上的古生代岛弧。  相似文献

白云母石英片岩中碎屑锆石的成因矿物学研究及SHRIMP U-Pb同位素年龄测定表明,北大河岩群变质沉积岩的蚀源区存在1400~3035Ma构造热事件,除了年龄为约2457Ma的变质事件外,主要表现为岩浆事件,其中以1800Ma左右的岩浆事件最为强烈,1400~1700Ma事件次之,中-新太古代的岩浆事件也比较明显;北大河岩群可能遭受过863Ma左右的变质作用影响,其沉积岩的沉积作用发生于1400Ma(最小的碎屑锆石年龄)至863Ma(变质年龄)之间,而不是前人所认为的古元古代;根据46%的碎屑锆石为1800Ma左右这一事实,最起码可以肯定北大河岩群的沉积年龄新于1800Ma;北大河岩群的蚀源区存在中-新太古代的古老陆壳。同时,北大河岩群碎屑锆石年龄资料也为朱龙关群蛇绿岩的形成时代提供了有力的制约:朱龙关群蛇绿岩很可能形成于早古生代,而非中元古代早期。  相似文献

延吉地区古新世埃达克岩石中出现了大量的捕获锆石,阴极发光图像显示这些锆石主要来源于围岩中酸性侵入岩,其U-Pb年龄变化在87~387Ma之间,ε_(Hf)(t)变化在-2.1~14.7之间,T_(DM)(Hf)为272~895Ma。原位离子探针微量元素分析显示,大部分锆石具有相对含石榴子石变质岩高Y、低Hf,在REE配分模式为LREE亏损、HREE富集、正Ce异常和负Eu异常,说明这些锆石的生长环境为与斜长石共存而缺乏石榴子石的体系;另外两颗锆石的Eu负异常不明显,说明它们结晶于缺少共生斜长石的体系。随着锆石结晶时间的变新,其ε_(Hf)(t)逐渐降低和T_(DM)(Hf)增加,说明年青地壳组分对延吉地区的显生宙中酸性侵入岩熔融源区的贡献减少,中生代以来,尤其是区域岩浆活动峰期时间(早白垩世)地壳增生较弱;此外,锆石的U-Pb年龄与Y、Th和U显示出正相关关系,而与Eu/Eu*和Ce/Yb_(CN)表现出负相关关系,反映区域中酸性岩浆熔融源区或岩浆分异过程中斜长石的贡献减小,而熔融源区残留石榴子石的贡献有增加趋势。  相似文献

据冀中坳陷南部晋县凹陷钻井岩心砂岩碎屑组分、重矿物以及部分常量元素的序列变化分析,该区古近纪地壳曾发生强烈的断块翘倾运动,主要物源类型变化反映裂谷盆地边缘的断块构造背景。砂岩类型从孔二段岩屑砂岩到孔一段至沙二段岩屑长石砂岩、岩屑长石石英砂岩再到沙——东营组岩屑砂岩,为一旋回过程。在垂向上,石英组分向上递增;长石组分呈低高低变化;而碳酸盐岩屑组分则显示上下高、中部低的特点,与正常的地层序列不相匹配。结合盆缘构造演化研究认为,在孔二段大量出现的高碳酸盐岩屑与断块翘倾并与可能的燕山期逆冲断块的侵蚀有关。  相似文献
