Bauxsol(TM) is a trade marked name for a modified bauxite refining residue where Ca and Mg are used to transform carbonate and hydroxide alkalinity from soluble to insoluble forms within the bauxite refinery residue (red mud), This leads to a pH reduction from 〉13 to ≈8.5 and reduces soluble Al and Na contents. The concentration ratios of Ca and Mg in the treatment brine can be manipulated to provide neo-formational mineral assemblages dominated by either Mg, or Ca end members; hydrotalcite and brucite (Mg-rich), or hydrocalumite, para-aluminohydrocalcite, aragonite and portlandite (Ca-rich). The Bauxsol(TM) raw material (BRM) has excellent metal binding capacity (〉1500 meq/kg), good P binding capacity (〉2% by mass) and a good acid neutralising capacity (3.5-7 M/kg), however the BRM can be further blended with other mineral additives to enhance the geochemical properties and improve specific performance. This paper reports on the use of a high-Mg Bauxsol(TM) blend to treat waters that have high P, NH4+ and polyacrylamide (flocculant) loadings in Biological Nutrient Reduction (BNR) plant digested sewage sludge centrates. Initial analysis of the centrate indicated it contained 325 mg/L total-P (225 mg/L P as ortho-P), 767 mg/L N as NH4^+, suspended solids loads (TSS) of 683 mg/L and chemical oxygen demand (COD) of 480 mg/L (although the day to day variability in nutrient loadings can be as much as 25%). This was then treated using 1.7 g/L of a high-Mg Bauxsol (TM) blend to yield a water with 〈1.8 mg/L total-P (ortho-P is 〈0.5 mg/L), NH4^+ 〈460 mg/L N, 〈60 mg/L TSS, and 〈300 mg/L COD. Small additions of ferric chloride post Bauxsol (TM) addition reduced the soluble ortho-P load by about 50% and about 30% of the COD, but these additions appear largely unnecessary. Analysis of the solid residue indicates it contains 11.5% P, 0.39% N, 21% Mg, and 2.44% crude protein making the solid residue a potentially useful fertilizer. It is likely that P and NH4^+ is affected by the formation of MgHPO4 and Mg (NH4)PO4 (Struvite) within the solids. Calculations from the solids indicate that 85% of the P removal is as MgHPO4, which appears consistent with literature on the formation geochemistry of struvite around pH 8.0. Further manipulation of the geochemistry of waters and kinetics of crystal growth may allow for a greater struvite recovery, and further enhanced ammonia removal. The treated centrate is then reported back to the head of works and solids are removed with the sludge at the primary and secondary clarifier.  相似文献

Based on the principle of synthesis, a new method was put forward to dispose Congo Red anion-containing dyestuff from wastewater and its feasibility was also examined. The principle of the method is described as follows: Mg^2+ and Al^3+ are hydrolyzed to form Mg/Al-LDH by adding Mg^2+, Al^3+ and NaOH in wastewater containing anion dyestuff, which is selectively intercalated with the interlayer of LDH in order to balance positive structural charge. While Mg^2+ and Al^3+ are co-precipitated to form LDH, the anion dyestuff in wastewater will be removed by LDH synthesized in-situ, as is confirmed by X-ray diffraction analysis of settlings and chemical analysis of aqueous samples. In this work, we studied the influence of Mg/Al mole ratio, pH value, time and temperature of reaction on the removal of anion dyestuff and the use of Mg and Al. The experimental results showed the maximum removal efficiency of anion dyestuff could be attained when pH value was 9.0, and Mg/Al mol ratio was 2 : 1, reaction duration was 2 hours, and the effect of temperature was not remarkable, and the removal efficiency could reach 100%. Meanwhile, the Mg and Al added could be made good use of. This technology has the advantage of extraordinary efficiency of wastewater disposal.  相似文献

Our study group has developed a unique combined ters from the industries of dyestuff, pharmaceutical, chemical biological technology to treat high-strength organic wastewaengineering and zymolysis by using the principles of anaerobic ecological niche and bio-phase separation. The study obtained five national invention patents and eight patent equipments. This technology contains four kernel processes - two-phase anaerobic-aerobic process, hydrolysis-acidification-oxidation process, UASBAF-oxidation process, and internal cycling-hydrolysis-oxidation process. Fifteen pilot projects were accomplished in the basins of Tai Lake, Huai River, Liao River and Songhua River, and their total capital investment reached 185.214 million Yuan (RMB). Compared to conventional wastewater treatment technology, the innovative technology is more costeffective for high-strength organic wastewater treatment, can save capital investment by 15% - 30%, lessen land usage by 20% to 40% and decrease the operating cost by 10% to 25%. The operating cost of treatment per cubic meter industrial wastewater could be below 0.6 to 1.4 Yuan (RMB).  相似文献

探讨了SBR和PAC-SBR反应器处理盐酸林可霉素原料液生产废水过程中活性污泥特征的变化.随着废水投加量的增加,PAC-SBR反应器的污泥性能始终优于SBR反应器,但是由于盐酸林可霉素原料液生产废水对生物有较强的抑制作用,PAC-SBR反应器和SBR反应器中污泥的活性均发生恶化,COD去除率已明显下降,单独采用SBR或PAC-SBR法处理已难以达到排放标准,必须进行工艺的组合.PAC-SBR反应器较SBR反应器在污泥性质及处理效率上均有一定的改善,对处理盐酸林可霉素原料药生产废水有一定的优势.  相似文献

与六方磁黄铁矿相比,单斜磁黄铁矿Fe缺位较普遍。在初始pH值分别为3.40~9.66和3.47~9.66较宽范围内,利用单斜磁黄铁矿和六方磁黄铁矿处理含Cr(VI) 废水,当反应达到充分平衡时,废水的pH值分别变化在3.61~4.47和5.39~6.57范围内。六方磁黄铁矿除Cr(VI)效果明显不及单斜磁黄铁矿,但被氧化的六方磁黄铁矿除Cr(VI)效率有所 提高。电化学分析表明,在酸性介质中处理的反应过程为H+的消耗过程,而在碱性介质中 则为OH 的消耗过程。根据pH值的这一变化规律,可自行调节处理过程中水质的酸性变化 ,能节省传统工艺中需要加碱以中和处理后酸性水的环节,具有一定的实际应用价值。  相似文献
