The isoprenoid, hopanoid and steroid compositions of 15 oils from the most productive oil fields in Cuba were studied to determine source-rock depositional environments and organic matter sources. The oils, which are from the northern geological province of Cuba and can be defined by the position with respect to the overthrust belt, can be grouped into two families: those from the Remedios (1) and those from the Placetas (2) tectonostratigraphic units.Remedios oils contain 17α(H)-diahopane, high relative amounts of 18α(H)-22,29,30-trisnorneohopane and diasteranes, which is indicative of generation from clay-rich source rocks. The crude oils of the Placetas Unit exhibit a sterane/hopane composition consistent with a carbonate origin. Nevertheless, these polycyclic hydrocarbons exhibit significant changes in composition, indicating that several organic matter sources, e.g. a carbonate/evaporitic origin of Varadero and Varadero Sur oils, have contributed to the oils from this Unit. The Remedios oils are more mature [evaluated from the and sterane indices] than the Placetas oils.A wide range of biodegradation levels are encountered in these oils (from 0 to 7–8 using the scale derived by Volkman et al. (1983). The high relative abundance of 25-norhopanes is a distinctive feature of Remedios oils. The presence of these compounds in lightly biodegraded or nondegraded oils corresponds to a mixing of paleobiodegraded oil with more recently sourced nondegraded oil in the reservoir. The most biodegraded oil, Cantel, exhibits and sterane ratios, and hopane ratios that have been altered by microbial attack. 相似文献

The goal of this study is to explain the origin of 234U–238U fractionation in groundwater from sedimentary aquifers of the St. Lawrence Lowlands (Quebec, Canada), and its relationship with 3He/4He ratios, to gain insight regarding the evolution of groundwater in the region. (234U/238U) activity ratios, or (234U/238U)act, were measured in 23 groundwater samples from shallow Quaternary unconsolidated sediments and from the deeper fractured regional aquifer of the Becancour River watershed. The lowest (234U/238U)act, 1.14 ± 0.01, was measured in Ca–HCO3-type freshwater from the Quaternary Shallower Aquifer, where bulk dissolution of the carbonate allows U to migrate into water with little 234U–238U isotopic fractionation. The (234U/238U)act increases to 6.07 ± 0.14 in Na–HCO3–Cl-type groundwater. Preferential migration of 234U into water by α-recoil is the underlying process responsible for this isotopic fractionation. An inverse relationship between (234U/238U)act and 3He/4He ratios has been observed. This relationship reflects the mixing of newly recharged water, with (234U/238U)act close to the secular equilibrium and containing atmospheric/tritiogenic helium, and mildly-mineralized older water (14C ages of 6.6 kyrs), with (234U/238U)act of ≥6.07 and large amounts of radiogenic 4He, in excess of the steady-state amount produced in situ. The simultaneous fractionation of (234U/238U)act and the addition of excess 4He could be locally controlled by stress-induced rock fracturing. This process increases the surface area of the aquifer matrix exposed to pore water, from which produced 4He and 234U can be released by α-recoil and diffusion. This process would also facilitate the release of radiogenic helium at rates greater than those supported by steady-state U–Th production in the rock. Consequently, sources internal to the aquifers could cause the radiogenic 4He excesses measured in groundwater. 相似文献

Haemocytes play an essential role in the internal defence of molluscs. It has been reported that organic xenobiotics commonly found as pollutants in the marine environment impair defence capabilities of haemocytes. The purpose of the present study was to investigate the effects of benzo(a)pyrene [B(a)P] on the integrity of the actin cytoskeleton and on endocytosis in haemocytes and to see if these effects are related to generation of reactive oxygen species. Haemocytes were exposed in vitro to B(a)P (0.5–40 μg/ml) for 1 h. Cell viability (using 2,3-bis[2-methoxy-4-nitro-5-sulfophenyl]-2H-tetrazolium-5-carboxanilide or XTT assay) indicated that selected doses were sublethal. Uptake of neutral red was significantly decreased in a dose-dependent manner in B(a)P-treated haemocytes. Distribution of actin filaments, labeled with rhodamine-conjugated phalloidin, was altered in haemocytes treated with 20 or 40 μg/ml B(a)P. These effects could be related to an increased production of superoxide anion during B(a)P metabolism, as detected by the nitroblue tetrazolium (NBT) reduction assay in haemocytes treated with 10 μg/ml B(a)P. 相似文献

在实验生态条件下,研究了在苯并(a)芘(BaP)胁迫下大弹涂鱼肝脏超氧化物歧化酶(SOD)活性的变化,结果显示:暴露3d时,不同BaP含量组大弹涂鱼肝脏SOD活性无显著差异(P>0.05),而暴露7d时,随着B aP含量的升高,0.5mg/dm^3 BaP含量组SOD活性被显著诱导(P<0.05),为对照组的1.87倍;随着暴露时间的延长,各含量组肝脏SOD的活性均表现出不同程度的下降趋势,其中对照组肝脏SOD活性显著降低,表明SOD活性易受污染以外的因素,如水体容量、铒料、光照等的影响。污染解除后,0.5mg/dm^3含量组SOD活性显著升高,表明大弹涂鱼肝脏仍具有较强的生理调节机能,也可能表明SOD活性的变化相对于环境因子改变的“迟滞性”。以上这些结果表明SOD有可能作为大弹涂鱼受BaP胁迫的生物指标。 相似文献

Industrial activities, notably oil and gas industries, are expanding in the Arctic. Most of the biomarkers were developed using temperate organisms living at temperatures above 10 °C. Little is known about the biomarker responses of organisms living between −1.88 and 5 °C. Therefore, assessment of the toxicity of chemicals to cold-water adapted species is required. In this study, the Arctic scallop, Chlamys islandicus, was selected as a key species for bio-monitoring because of wide distribution in Arctic waters and its commercial value. Test animals, stored in seawater at 2 °C, were injected with benzo(a)pyrene (diluted in cod liver oil 5 mg ml−1) in the adductor muscle every 24 h for four days giving a final dose of 0, 74 and 90.6 mg kg−1 wet weight for control, low and high dose, respectively. The biomarkers used were total oxyradical scavenging capacity (TOSC) in the digestive gland and cell membrane stability of haemocytes. TOSC values were significantly reduced (ca. 30%) in exposed groups (P<0.05), indicating a depletion in oxyradical molecular scavengers. The antioxidant defences appeared to be overwhelmed by the reactive oxygen species as the plasma membranes of haemocytes were destabilised (P<0.05) probably due to lipid peroxidation. These data indicate that reactive oxygen species (ROS) were produced by Arctic scallops via the metabolisation of benzo(a)pyrene at 2 °C. 相似文献
