In Southwest China, Gondwana-affinity Permo-Carboniferous deposits are known to occur in the Northern Himalayas, the Lhasa Block and the South Qiangtang Block, the Baoshan Block and the Tengchong Bock. The three-fold clastic successions, namely diamictite–pebbly mudstone–dark mudstone and shale are commonly interpreted as representing deposits of glacial–deglacial–post-glacial periods in marine environments. Deposits, for example, the Dingjiazhai Formation in the Baoshan Block, the Kongshuhe Formation in the Tengchong Block, the Yongzhu Group and the Poindo Group in the Lhasa Block, are all succeeded by carbonate deposits. This marks a significant change from post-glacial clastic environment to a carbonate environment. Available paleontological data show that the change from post-glacial clastic environment to carbonate environment took place in the Baoshan, Tengchong and Lhasa Block at the beginning of the Artinskian. The carbonate environment in the Baoshan Block was spoiled by the eruption of the Woniusi Basalts, and in the Xainza area of the Lhasa Block was shortly replaced by clastic environment until the Kungurian. In the northern Himalayas limestones began to occur in the Late Permian in a fluctuating manner.  相似文献

Fourteen distinct sedimentary environments have been recognised in the surface sediments of the intertidal zone of the North Norfolk coast. Nine of these can be distinguished in borehole samples on the basis of sedimentological and micro-palaeontological characteristics. They comprise: gravel; channel sand; intertidal sand; intertidal silty sand; intertidal mud and marsh creek; lower salt marsh; upper salt marsh; dune sand; and peat. Sediment accumulations have been penetrated to a depth of ?8 m OD and basal peats dated by 14C back to 8410 ± 50 years BP. An overall rate of sediment accumulation (and subsidence) of about 1 m per thousand years is indicated. There is considerable persistence of sedimentary environments in the same areas during up-building, but some erosion and roll-over of the coastal barrier system has occurred. Evidence of positive and negative sea-level tendencies are present in the record, but the main development of the tract is determined by sediment supply to the beach and marshes; positive sea-level tendencies occur at c. 6610, 5970, 4630 and 2790 BP, negative sea-level tendencies occur at 4520 to 4450 and (possibly) 3470 BP.  相似文献

Summary. Although post-glacial rebound data have been conventionally interpreted as being governed by the steady state component of the mantle viscosity spectrum, the radial profile of this parameter, which is then inferred by fitting a model to observations, is characterized by the fact that it exhibits rather slight variation with depth. This disagrees with expectations based upon microphysical models of the solid state creep process. It also disagrees with very recent inferences of the viscosity stratification based on isostatic geoid anomalies expected on the basis of the internal lateral heterogeneity of mantle density obtained from seismic tomographic analyses. The new calculations of the signatures of post-glacial rebound reported here show that these two types of information are easily reconciled if the previously inferred value of the lower mantle viscosity is interpreted as a transient value, as originally suggested by Weertman on the basis of qualitative considerations. In these new models considered here the steady state creep resistance of the lower mantle is not constrained at all by post-glacial rebound observations. It can be fixed only by an appeal to other geophysical data. Whether such models are actually required by the data should become clear in the very near future.  相似文献

末次盛冰期,由于基面大幅度下降,长江河口段形成了深切古河谷。河流携带的部分粗砂砾在河床上形成滞留沉积。冰后期海平面上升引发的海侵造成了长江古河谷的充填和河床相、河漫滩河口湾相和部分河口湾浅海相的形成。尔后的进积产生了部分河口湾浅海相及三角洲相。根据钻孔资料绘制的古河谷地质剖面图显示,冰后期海侵旋回出现在三角洲顶点到现在河口口门地区,溯河而上受海洋影响的程度逐渐减弱。古河谷的中部,靠近主泓线附近,沉积层序完整。古河谷的边缘地带,往往缺失底部的河床相砂砾层。底部的厚层河床相砂砾层是由河床滞留沉积和溯源加积堆积形成的,在古河谷沉积层序中存在着多种沉积间断。  相似文献

Understanding the post-glacial migration of species from their Pleistocene refugia to their modern ranges requires an examination of the influence of topography on migration pathways. We refined the migration ranges of sugar maple (Acer saccharum) since the last ice age, as described by Delcourt and Delcourt (1987), to exclude elevations where sugar maple was unlikely to have existed. The elevations, used as indictors of climatic limits, were based on the modern regional elevation limits of sugar maple. Paleo-range maps of sugar maple were combined with a digital elevation model in a geographic information system to remove the climatically unsuitable regions for sugar maple along its post-glacial migration. The genetic consequences of the interrupted migration pathways of sugar maple are discussed in relation to published studies of broad-spatial-scale genetic diversity in sugar maple.  相似文献

依据对江苏省泰兴市黄桥镇钻孔和海门市钻孔、上海长兴岛钻孔地层岩心沉积特征的研究,讨论 了冰后期以来长江三角洲河口地区的层序地层。研究表明,沿古河谷纵剖面各河段地层中沉积相组合关系有明 显区别。在古河谷下端地区,下切河谷充填层序自下而上由河流相、河口湾相、浅海相和三角洲相组成,沉积 相组合最完整。在古河谷上端地区,由于河口湾在海侵发生时存在着涌潮作用,因此,河漫滩泥质沉积层顶部 的冲刷面被确定为最大海泛面,其上覆稳定的河口砂体;浅海相和河口湾相沉积在该区域变薄直至尖灭;层序 顶部由中潮坪突变为高潮坪,最终形成泛滥平原。这意味着,原先确定的自西向东的长江三角洲的几个亚三角 洲或河口砂体沉积,并非都具有向上变粗的三角洲层序。文中报道的3个钻孔,揭露了冰后期长江三角洲完整 的下切河谷充填层序。河口湾顶不具备三角洲层序的地区应称为滨海平原。  相似文献
