Measuring Seismic Waves Induced by Large Earthquakes with GPS 总被引:4,自引:0,他引:4
Independent GPS position solutions at 1-sec interval, derived from the International GPS Service (IGS) data and orbit÷clock products, clearly show seismic waves generated by the magnitude 7.9 Denali Fault, Alaska earthquake of November 3, 2002. Surface seismic waves with periods of about 20 sec and amplitudes of up to 20 cm were detected up to 4,000 km from the epicenter. This confirms the previous findings reported by Larson et al. (2003); we use additional station data along with different processing software and strategies. The seismic waves from the May 26, 2003 magnitude 7.0 Japanese earthquake were also observed in the 1-sec position solution series at station MIZU, about 80 km from the epicenter. This earthquake, however, could not be detected by GPS at station USUD, about 410 km away. Similarly, the Algerian May 21, 2003 earthquake of magnitude 6.8 could not be detected by GPS at the nearest IGS station located approximately 800 km from the epicenter. 相似文献

In recent years, the increase in the number of hurricanes and other costal hazards in the US pose a tremendous threat to the residents of coastal states. According to the National Hurricane Center, Florida is the most vulnerable coastal state to hurricanes. Mitigation policies have been formulated to reduce mortality and provide emergency services by evacuating people from the hazard zone. Many of these evacuees, particularly the elderly or lower income populations, rely on evacuation shelters for temporary housing. Because of the cost and limited use, evacuation shelters are almost exclusively dual use shelters where the primary purpose of the facility is for some other public function (e.g. school, hospital, etc.). In 2000, the estimated shortage of public shelter spaces in Florida was about 1.5 million. The purpose of this study was to rank the existing and candidate shelters (schools, colleges, churches and community centers) available in the state based on their site suitability. The research questions examined in this study include: (1) How many candidate shelters are located in physically suitable areas (e.g. not in a flood prone area, not near hazardous facilities, etc.)?; (2) How many existing shelters are located in physically un suitable areas, but in socially suitable areas (situated in areas with demand)?; (3) How many alternative existing and/or candidate shelters with high/very high physical suitability are located near physically un suitable existing shelters and thus, may be better choices for a shelter?; and (4) How many existing shelters located in physically un suitable areas are not near alternative existing and/or candidate shelters? A Geographic Information System‐based suitability model integrating Weighted Linear Combination (WLC) with a Pass/Fail screening technique was implemented for the 17 counties of Southern Florida. It was found that 48% of the existing shelters are located in physically unsuitable areas. Out of all the candidate shelters, 57% are located in physically unsuitable areas. For 15 of the existing shelters in unsuitable locations, no alternative candidate or existing shelter with medium to high physical suitability exists within 10 miles (16.1 km). 相似文献

在GPS非组合精密单点定位(PPP)模型的基础上,针对BDS和GLONASS系统各自的特点,分别提出了适用于BDS和GLONASS系统的非组合PPP模型,并在此基础上构建了BDS/GLONASS联合处理的函数模型.新模型中考虑了BDS系统GEO卫星伪距长周期多路径效应引起的系统性偏差(BDS GEO Multipath Bias,BGMB),将其作为参数进行估计;另外,新模型中还考虑了GLONASS系统伪距频间偏差(inter-frequency-biase,IFB),将其参数化为卫星频率号的线性函数,并通过参数重组得到了满秩的函数模型和可估参数的形式.选取了2015年年积日200~230共一个月的11个MGEX跟踪站数据来验证新模型与算法的正确性和有效性,结果表明:将BDS系统伪距BGMB当作参数估计能够显著提高BDS单系统非组合PPP的收敛速度,并能减小伪距残差;通过线性函数来模型化GLONASS伪距IFB能够显著提高GLONASS单系统PPP的收敛速度,并能在一定程度上减小伪距残差;1个月BDS/GLONASS非组合PPP定位误差RMS在北、东、高三个方向分别为6.9 mm、9.1 mm和19.3 mm,表明提出的BDS/GLONASS非组合PPP模型与算法具有良好的定位性能. 相似文献

Dynamic positioning (DP) is an operation method whereby the position of a surface vessel is maintained in close proximity to a required position in the horizontal plane through the controlled application of forces and moments generated by purposely installed thrusters. When estimating thrust, this kind of conventional control system often uses many acceleration sensors, velocity sensors, environment sensors, and filters. Usually, these sensors have measured electrical errors. To reduce the number of sensors used and to decrease the measurement errors, this article presents an effective control system for estimating thrust and moment commands, which is based on energy and impulsemomentum principles. Donha and Brinati's example is followed to verify the feasibility of the present control system, which performs semisubmersible platform positioning using an LQG controller, and the results are feasible and economical. A simulated coring vessel marine positioning in southern Taiwan is presented, which can estimate the counterthrust and moment commands, and the complex environmental forces and moments are described. The results can provide a valuable control system for dynamically positioned vessels. 相似文献

缺失样本的存在会造成GPS时间序列速度估计的不确定性,从而影响GPS时间序列的应用。针对该问题本文提出一种基于高斯模型的样本缺失GPS时间序列重构方法,首先利用高斯概率密度函数对GPS时间序列的先验分布进行建模,在此基础上构建全概率贝叶斯统计模型,采用期望最大(Expectation Maximization,EM)算法对模型参数(隐变量)进行迭代更新并计算其最大似然估计值,最终完成信号重构。分别对随机缺失和分段连续缺失两种情况进行实验分析,结果表明所提方法相对于传统插值方法可以获得更好的重构性能。 相似文献

Locata is a new positioning technology developed by the Locata Corporation. At the beginning of 2007, the Institute of Engineering
Surveying and Space Geodesy (IESSG) bought and received a network of Locata transceivers with two rovers. The purpose is to
solve the challenges identified when surveying in dense multipath areas (i.e. urban canyons). In this paper, the technology
is tested in an urban canyon scenario on the University park at the University of Nottingham. By comparing Locata position
solutions with the true positions calculated with a total station and a carrier-phase GPS, the results show that centimetre-level
accuracy is achievable in difficult environments in the presence of Wi-Fi signals. The rover’s estimated coordinates may diverge
in some cases. Finally, a comparison study shows that Real Time Kinematic GPS and Locata technologies have similar accuracy
