The development of the Sulak River Delta in the 19th and 20th centuries is discussed. It is shown that a drastic reduction in sediment runoff after the establishment of river flow regulation, anthropogenic restructuring of the river channel system in the delta area, and large-scale variations in the Caspian Sea level had an impact on the delta evolution. The processes of delta degradation over the period of the recent sea level rise are analyzed. The dynamics of the Sulak Delta in recent decades is studied using space photographs.  相似文献

Peculiarities of the development of the Kura Delta over the last 200 years are discussed. As shown, changes in the delta were greatly affected by the Caspian Sea level drop during 1929–1977 and its rise during 1978–1995 as well as by natural and human-induced variations in the water and sediment runoff of the river. It was noted that the delta area decreased by nearly 40% as a result of the sea level rise. The following significant changes in the Kura Delta were revealed in recent years using space images: river water rushed through the right mouth spit and, hence, the main Southeastern Branch was devoid of its flow and a new sea spit began its formation in the branch mouth using wave-cut products.  相似文献

The evolution of the eastern part of the Terek mouth area in the period of the current rise of the Caspian Sea level has been traced by aerial and space photographs made at different times. With the help of computer processing of the photographs, a set of maps have been compiled including maps of the eastern part of the Terek delta (including the former Agrakhan Bay and the Agrakhan Peninsula with a new delta) in 1978, 1991, and 1997, as well as a map of its dynamics in the period of its most radical changes (1978–1991). The response of the coastal environment to the sea level rise has been analyzed, and the correctness of the forecasts of changes in the coastal zone has been evaluated.  相似文献

This article characterizes the atlas prepared at the Faculty of Geography, Moscow State University; 87 mouths of the largest world rivers are presented in space images. The atlas has 325 pages, 95 maps, 425 images and six printer’s sheets of explanatory text. The atlas is based on space images in the Internet galleries with data representation at different territorial levels (river mouth area-delta, estuary or their complex-typical delta reaches). The atlas shows specific features of river mouth areas, their hydrological and morphological structure, including estuaries and river deltas, their long-term and seasonal dynamics, landscapes and delta land use, hydraulic structures in deltas, ports, cultural and historical monuments, as well as recreation objects.  相似文献

We analyzed the spectra of eight T Tauri stars (T Tau, RY Tau, CO Ori, EZ Ori, GW Ori, GX Ori, V1044 Ori, and SU Aur) in the wavelength range from 1200 to 3100 Å taken with the STIS spectrograph from the Hubble Space Telescope. For each star, we found an upper limit on the interstellar extinction A v , which proved to be lower than the values obtained by different authors from optical observations. For T Tau and RY Tau, we found the upper limits on their luminosities, masses, and radii as well as the bolometric luminosity of the excess emission continuum. The latter is most likely associated with mass accretion from a protoplanetary disk. We show that the bulk of the emission continuum is radiated in the infrared. For these stars, we determined the ratio of the flux in the C IV 1550 doublet lines to the excess-continuum flux. This ratio proved to be two orders of magnitude lower than its values predicted by the accretion-shock (AS ) models developed by Lamzin (1998) and Calvet and Gullbring (1998). This result leads us to believe that for T Tau and RY Tau, the emission continuum originates in the accretion disk and/or in the boundary layer rather than in the AS, as has been assumed previously. This implies that in these stars, only a small fraction of the accreted matter passes through the AS, while the bulk of this matter settles in the equatorial plane of the star, passing through the boundary layer.  相似文献

The Forbush decrease (Fd) of the Galactic cosmic ray (GCR) intensity and disturbances in the Earth’s magnetic field generally take place simultaneously and are caused by the same phenomenon, namely a coronal mass ejection (CME) or a shock wave created after violent processes in the solar atmosphere. The magnetic cut-off rigidity of the Earth’s magnetic field changes because of the disturbances, leading to additional changes in the GCR intensity observed by neutron monitors and muon telescopes. Therefore, one may expect distortion in the temporal changes in the power-law exponent of the rigidity spectrum calculated from neutron monitor data without correcting for the changes in the cut-off rigidity of the Earth’s magnetic field. We compare temporal changes in the rigidity spectrum of Fds calculated from neutron monitor data corrected and uncorrected for the geomagnetic disturbances. We show some differences in the power-law exponent of the rigidity spectrum of Fds, particularly during large disturbances of the cut-off rigidity of the Earth’s magnetic field. However, the general features of the temporal changes in the rigidity spectrum of Fds remain valid as they were found in our previous study. Namely, at the initial phase of the Fd, the rigidity spectrum is relatively soft and it gradually becomes hard up to the time of the minimum level of the GCR intensity. Then during the recovery phase of the Fd, the rigidity spectrum gradually becomes soft. This confirms that the structural changes of the interplanetary magnetic field turbulence in the range of frequencies of 10?6?–?10?5 Hz are generally responsible for the time variations in the rigidity spectrum we found during the Fds.  相似文献

The author argues for a new, qualitative concept of “geographical” resolution, i.e., for certain changes in thinking about the extent to which spatial resolution per se can be accepted as an indicator of the suitability of various types of imagery for geographic analysis. She argues that more attention must be paid to other factors affecting the photographic reproducibility and perceptibility of geographical features on imagery: figure-ground contrast; configuration, size, and boundaries; etc. Examples of differences in the perceptibility of the same features (fields, erosional forms, populated places) at the same spatial resolution are presented for different parts of the country. The hydrological regime, morphological structure, and landscapes of the Indus River delta are considered, and the significant changes that took place in them during the second half of the XX century because of the large-scale hydraulic engineering activity in the river’s basin, runoff regulation, and water withdrawal for irrigation are analyzed. It is shown that the abrupt decrease in water and sediment runoff in the Indus have affected the hydrological processes in the river’s lower reaches and caused delta degradation.  相似文献

The first high-accuracy CCD UBV RI(RI)C light curves for the recently discovered eclipsing binary V798 Cep (P = 16 d .08, V = 11 m . 8) are presented; this star is included in our program of eclipsing systems with considerable eccentricities. A photometric solution for the light curves and physical characteristics of the component stars are derived. The orbital eccentricity is quite high, e = 0.437. The longitude of periastron is close to 180°, making studies of the apsidal motion difficult. V798 Cep may be a hierarchical system.  相似文献
