In order to predict the roll motion of a floating structure in irregular waves accurately, it is crucial to estimate the unknown damping coefficients and restoring moment coefficients in the nonlinear roll motion equation. In this paper, a parameter identification method based on a combination of random decrement technique and support vector regression (SVR) is proposed to identify the coefficients in the roll motion equation of a floating structure by using the measured roll response in irregular waves. Case studies based on the simulation data and model test data respectively are designed to validate the applicability and validity of the identification method. Firstly, the roll motion of a vessel is simulated by using the known coefficients from literature, and the simulated data are used to identify the coefficients in the roll motion equation. The identified coefficients are compared with the known values to validate the applicability of the identification method. Then the roll motion is predicted by using the identified coefficients. The prediction results are compared with the simulated data, and good agreement is achieved. Secondly, the model test data of a FPSO are used to identify the coefficients in the roll motion equation. Then the random decrement signature of the roll motion is predicted by using the identified coefficients and compared with that obtained from the model test data, and satisfactory agreement is achieved. From this study, it is shown that the identification method can be effectively applied to identify the coefficients in the nonlinear roll motion equation in irregular waves.  相似文献

A meshless method, Moving-Particle Semi-hnplicit Method (MPS) is presented in this paper to simulate the rolling of different 2D ship sections. Sections S. S. 0.5, S.S. 5.0 and S. S. 7.0 of series 60 with CB = 0.6 are chosen for the simulation. It shows that the result of MPS is very close to results of experiments or mesh-numerical simulations. In the simulation of MPS, vortices are found periodically in bilges of ship sections. In section S. S. 5.0 and section S. S. 7.0, which are close to the middle ship, two little vortices are found at different bilges of the section, in section S. S. 0.5, which is close to the bow, only one big vortex is found at the bottom of the section, these vortices patterns are consistent with the theory of Ikeda. The distribution of shear stress and pressure on the rolling hull of ship section is calculated. When vortices are in bilges of the section, the sign clmnge of pressure can be found, but in section S. S. 0.5, there is no sign change of pressure because only one vortex in the bottom of the section. With shear stress distribution, it can be found the shear stress in bilges is bigger than that at other part of the ship section. As the free surface is considered, the shear stress of both sides near the free surface is close to zero and even sign changed.  相似文献

Traditionally, when using Melnikov's method to analyze ship motions, the damping terms are treated as small. This is typically true for roll motion but not always true for other and/or multiple degrees of freedom. In order to apply Melnikov's method to other and/or multiple-degree-of-freedom motions, the small damping assumption must be addressed. In this paper, the extended Melnikov method is used to analyze ship motion without the constraint of small linear damping. Two roll motion models are analyzed here. One is a simple roll model with nonlinear damping and cubic restoring moment. The other is the model with biased restoring moment. Numerical simulations are investigated for both models. The effectiveness and accuracy of this method is demonstrated.  相似文献

This paper presents a neural network (NN) controller for a fishing vessel rudder roll system. The aim of this study is to build a NN controller which uses rudder to regulate both the yaw and roll motion. The neural controller design is accomplished with using the classical back-propagation algorithm (CBA). Effectiveness of the proposed NN control scheme is compared with linear quadratic regulator (LQR) results by simulations carried out a fishing vessel rudder roll stabilizer system.  相似文献

The concept of live fish tanks in trawlers is to use the catch in a better condition and to reduce marine pollution. It also reduces the infrastructure meant to freeze the catch to preserve it for longer period. But the presence of additional free surface in the vessel challenges the stability of the vessel. This is besides the sloshing effect due to the moving liquid mass in the tank. Roll motions are initiated due to various factors related to the hull characteristics of the vessel, loading and operating conditions and its interaction with the environment. Location of fish tank, its orientation, arrangement of baffles inside the tank to reduce the free surface affects and careful design of tank opening are to be given priority during the design, manufacturing and tank testing. The results obtained from tank test of model are compared with that of analytical method. The non-linear roll performance become further complicated due to the free surface and sloshing effects of the mass in the live fish tank. Wave makers are used for generating waves under laboratory conditions compatible with the scaled down model of the trawler model. The tests are conducted in the towing tank of Pusan National University.  相似文献

The assumption that the East and North deck slopes of a pitch–roll buoy respond to East and North sea slopes as simple harmonic oscillators is routinely made by the National Data Buoy Center (NDBC) and others producing directional wave data. Although directional wave data derived with this assumption usually appear to be of good quality, the validity of the assumption has not previously been more directly demonstrated. In this paper, a method is proposed to judge the validity of the assumption for any set of time series records of buoy angular motion. The proposed method is applied to 200 record sets taken by an NDBC buoy located at ocean station 46024, and to five record sets taken by another NDBC buoy at 46051. For the 46024 data, it was demonstrated that the simple harmonic oscillator assumption was near perfectly valid. For the smaller 46051 data set, the simple harmonic oscillator assumption was shown to be slightly less valid.  相似文献
