The temporal variability in currents, temperature, and particulate matter concentration were measured in the Mississippi Canyon axis where the thalweg was 300 m deep from May–July and August–November 1998 using current meters, thermographs, a light-scattering sensor, and sediment traps. Canyon sediments were sampled by coring and observed using an ROV video camera. Currents in the upper Mississippi Canyon generally oscillated up/down canyon with diurnal periodicity and were bottom-intensified. Mean current speed at 3.5 mab was approximately 8 cm s?1 during both deployments, reaching maximum speeds of over 50 cm s?1 under normal conditions. Based on current velocities, critical bed shear stress for resuspension of canyon-floor sediments was exceeded about 30% of the time during both deployments. In late September, Hurricane Georges passed 150 km NE of the study site, significantly intensifying current velocities, bed shear stress, resuspension, trap fluxes and temperature fluctuations. As the hurricane passed, maximum current speed reached 68 cm?s and temperature decreased ~7 °C in less than two hours. Critical bed shear stress for sediment resuspension was exceeded approximately 50% of the time during the five days of hurricane influence. Further evidence for sediment resuspension was the five-fold (and perhaps 70–130 fold) increase in trap fluxes and compositional similarities between canyon surface sediment and material collected by traps.  相似文献

随着城镇化发展的加快, 上海的地电场观测受到来自周围环境噪声的影响日益严重, 这些噪声干扰对于地震前兆异常的分析判断带来很多不确定性. 本文主要探讨通过小波变换方法来分解地电场观测原始信号, 分析环境噪声对原始观测数据的影响强度. 利用异常信号的小波模值对比分析了滤波结果, 并通过绘制极化方位图检验了该方法在实际运用中的效果. 结果表明: 数字滤波方法能很好地去除日常干扰所带来的背景噪声, 对于重构的地电场信号, 也能较好地反映其原始信号变化特征; 滤波后的自然电场异常信号保留了原始信号中主要的变化特征, 并能反映其原始变化规律; 重构的地电场信号能够突出信号中异常信号极化方位角, 使极化方位收敛有利于实际运用.   相似文献

影响海-气二氧化碳(CO2)交换速度的多种因子已经讨论了很多年,但对各种因子的贡献却很少进行定量估计。为了更好地了解海-气交换的机制,我们讨论了不同因子对海-气交换速度的影响,并对描述海-气交换现象的各种参数化模型进行了分类和比较。然后,基于GAS EX-98和ASGAMAGE数据,我们评估了风速模型,并使用分段平均法定量地讨论了一些因子的影响,包括泡沫,波浪,风等,并考虑了它们之间的相互作用。我们发现,海-气CO2交换速度不仅仅是风速的函数,也会受到泡沫,波浪参数和其他因素的影响。我们使用了逐步回归法和线性回归法。当考虑风速,泡沫媒介和显著波高时,均方根误差由34.53 cm·h-1减少到16.96 cm·h-1。定量地讨论各种因子,对于将来评估大空间尺度和长时间序列的海-气CO2通量和全球变化是有用的。  相似文献

The reconstruction of porous media is of great importance in predicting fluid transport properties, which are widely used in various fields such as catalysis, oil recovery, medicine and aging of building materials. The real three-dimensional structural data of porous media are helpful to describe the irregular topologic structures of porous media. By using multiple-point statistics (MPS) to extract the characteristics of real porous media acquired from micro computed tomography (micro-CT) scanning, the probabilities of structural characteristics of pore spaces are obtained first, and then reproduced in the reconstructed regions. One solution to overcome the anisotropy of training images is to use real 3D volume data as a training image (TI). The CPU cost and memory burden brought up by 3D simulations can be reduced greatly by selecting the optimal multiple-grid template size that is determined by the entropy of a TI. Moreover, both soft data and hard data are integrated in MPS simulation to improve the accuracy of reconstructed images. The variograms and permeabilities, computed by lattice Boltzmann method, of the reconstructed images and the target image obtained from real volume data are compared, showing that the structural characteristics of reconstructed porous media using our method are similar to those of real volume data.  相似文献

Physiological function emerges from complex biomolecular interactions (e.g., protein–protein) and control mechanisms that enable animals to respond and adapt to changes in their environment. Cell injury and pathology induced by pollutants and other stressors appears to involve the gradual and progressive dysfunction of complex biomolecular interactions, resulting in loss of integrated physiological interactions and homeostasis leading to a reduced capacity to respond effectively to stress. In order to determine whether complexity can be used as an indicator of health, the hypothesis that pathology involves a loss of biological complexity has been tested using a generic physiological interaction network. System complexity was evaluated using Eulerian cycles and connectedness (connectance%) for estimating topological complexity and application of network theory (i.e., analysis of scale-free networks and network diameter). The complexity of the whole system increases when sub-systems, such as detoxication and anti-oxidant protective processes, augmented autophagy, protein degradation and induction of stress proteins, are up-regulated and start to interact significantly as part of a response to low-level stress (i.e., biphasic or hormetic response). However, with increasing severity of stress, cell injury and higher-level functional impairment lead to physiological dysfunction and breakdown of the whole interaction network with consequent loss of complexity. In summary for the model described here, network and graph theory appear to provide a mathematical formalism that can facilitate the system-level interpretation of health and dysfunction in living cells.  相似文献

Biochemical and productivity measurements and nutrient enrichment experiments were conducted on three cruises in summer and two cruises in winter on the shelf and the basin of the northern South China Sea (SCS) between 2001 and 2004. Phytoplankton production, in terms of depth-integrated new production (INP) or depth-integrated primary production (IPP), was higher in winter than in summer and on the shelf than in the basin. In winter, with deepening of the mixed layer, nitrate from the shallow nitracline that characterized the SCS waters was made available in the surface and supported the highest production of the year. Averaged INP measured in winter (0.25 g C m−2 d−1) was about twice the summer average (0.12 g C m−2 d−1) and was 0.19 g C m−2 d−1 on the shelf compared with 0.15 g C m−2 d−1 in the basin. In winter, average INP on the shelf was higher than the basin (0.34 versus 0.21 g C m−2 d−1); whereas in summer, averaged INP on the shelf (0.13 g C m−2 d−1) and the basin (0.11 g C m−2 d−1) were similar. While averaged IPP measured in the basin was higher in winter than in summer (0.53 versus 0.35 g C m−2 d−1), IPP on the shelf showed little temporal variation (0.82 in winter versus 0.84 g C m−2 d−1 in summer). Considerable spatial and inter-annual variation in production was measured in the shelf waters during summer, which could be linked to discharge volume and plume flow direction of the Zhujiang River. While the shelf waters in summer were mostly nitrogen starved or nitrogen and phosphorus co-limited, excessive river runoff may cause the nutritive state to shift to phosphorus deficiency. Waters with low surface salinities and high fluorescence from riverine mixing could be found extending from the Zhujiang mouth to as far as offshore southern Taiwan after a typhoon passed the northern SCS and brought heavy rainfall. Overall, both nutrient advection in winter and river discharge from the China coast in summer made new nitrogen available and shaped the dynamics of phytoplankton production in these oligotrophic waters.  相似文献

It is well known that interferometric synthetic aperture radar (InSAR) measurements are affected by the atmosphere especially the troposphere. We use Shanghai as an example to analyze the properties of the effects based on a number of SAR interferograms over the region. First, Radon transform is used to examine the isotropic property of the effects. The results show that the effects in all the interferograms are anisotropic although they exhibit different patterns. Two different methods, the Jarque-Bera and the Hinich tests, are then applied to test the Gaussianity of atmospheric effects. Both of the tests reveal that the atmospheric effects are non-Gaussian. Finally, spectral analysis of the atmospheric effects is carried out and the results show that the power spectra of the atmospheric signatures in all the interferograms studied follow approximately the power law distribution. The scaling exponents estimated show that the atmospheric signatures in all the interferograms are non-stationary but with stationary increments. It is estimated based on the estimated scaling exponents that external data with spatial resolutions as high as about 0.3 km, are required to determine and correct for over 90% of the atmospheric effects in the SAR interferograms.  相似文献
