Over the past several decades, risk has become a distinct field of social inquiry as scholars in a variety of disciplines have developed theories about the ‘nature’ of risk and the role it plays in contemporary society. Collectively, these theories enrich our understanding of the politics of risk, the dynamics of risk perception, and the way risk shapes and is shaped by space, culture, social change, and modes of governing in the neoliberal era. In this paper, however, we argue these theories are helpful but not entirely suited to understanding risk when it becomes the subject of something Whatmore (2009, p. 587, 2013) calls “environmental knowledge controversies”. These controversies are generative events where more-than-human agencies and the political and knowledge making practices of heterogeneous actors reshape our sense of the real. To address this issue, we draw on the concepts of enactment, multiplicity, and ontological politics to explore how different kinds of risk and tree were made more or less real during a contentious debate over the risk posed by a group of urban trees in Newcastle, Australia. This case study suggests we can think of risk and hazardous entities like trees as effects that also affect because they elicit interventions that transform bodies and spaces in more or less enduring ways. Attending to the enactment, multiplicity, and ontological politics of risk, we argue, provides an alternative way to navigate moments of political contestation over the assessment and management of risk that has implications for how these processes are conceived and conducted in the future.  相似文献

本文将三维激光扫描技术应用于超高压输电线路的检测与维护中。与传统的线路检测与维护方法相比较,三维激光扫描技术提供了一种方便、快捷、高效的三维数据获取手段,在此基础上,方便地计算超高压输电线路维护过程中所需的各项参数,如档距、高差、弧垂、导线的相间距离等。一方面,可以有效地论证输电线路的设计方案是否合理;另一方面,也可以合理确定故障频发地段,为电网的安全稳定运行提供了可靠的技术保障。  相似文献

调查了湛江城市建成区及城乡结合带的古树名木299株,其中古树292株,名木7株,分属 16科20属24种。树木种类以榕属(Ficus)植物最为显著,占总资源的77.9%;箭毒木(Antiaris toxicaria)、鹊肾树(Streblusasper)秋茄树(Kandeliacandel)、竹节树(Caralliabrachiata)、叉叶木 (Crescentiaalata)和牛蹄豆(Pithecellobiumdulce)等,为湛江特有的古树名木资源。分析了古树名 木资源的分布与湛江城市建设的关系,讨论了古树名木的生长状况,并提出保护建议。  相似文献

Trees Outside Forests (TOF) represent a source of lignocellulosic biomass that has received increasing attention in the recent years. While some studies have already investigated the potential of TOF in Germany, a spatial explicit analysis, specifically for Baden-Wuerttemberg, is still lacking. We used a unique wall-to-wall airborne Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) dataset combined with OpenStreetMap (OSM) data to map and classify TOF of the federal state of Baden-Wuerttemberg (∼35.000 km2) in south-western Germany. Furthermore, from annual biomass potentials of TOF areas collected from available literature, we calculated the mean annual biomass supply for all TOF areas in Baden-Wuerttemberg. This combination of remote sensing-based classification and available literature resulted in a mean annual biomass supply between ∼490,000–730,000 t from TOF in Baden-Wuerttemberg. The classification congruence on three reference sites was very high (∼99%) using a simple filter technique applied to the LiDAR data and masking man-made objects using OSM data. In contrast, the available literature revealed a high variability of biomass potentials, supporting the demand for an inventory system. Still, the results demonstrate the applicability of LiDAR based vegetation mapping and the value of OSM data in Baden-Wuerttemberg to detect man-made objects.  相似文献

In this article, the phenomenon of generation of corona discharges on the tops of trees and plants is described. In the first part of the text, the conditions for generation of this electric field which leads to formation of corona discharge and transfer of electric charge between atmosphere and Earth, are discussed. Experimental results of the onset voltage and its dependence on the discharge parameters are presented. The coincidence between released species from corona burning point and surrounding atmosphere is also discussed. Equation for the calculation of critical intensity of the electric field and onset voltage in dependence on radius of the tip are also discussed and compared with experimental data and equations for current–voltage characteristics are described. The attempt to explain differences between theory and measured data is proposed.  相似文献

地形绘制一直是图形学研究的热点问题,尤其是球面地形绘制,其在形状和数据组织方面比平面地形绘制更加复杂。在已有球面地形绘制算法的基础上,提出一种基于Geometry Clipmap的球面地形剖分与绘制方法。该方法以构建正二十面体球面网格为基础,将正二十面体划分为十个菱形区域,采用球面菱形网格的剖分,针对每个菱形区域的周边网格进行重新剖分和组合,形成一个虚拟的3×3的大菱形区域,扩大了Clipmap的活动范围,并在一定程度上解决了Clipmap的跨边界问题。实验结果表明了本文方法的可行性和有效性。  相似文献

本文着重讨论利用沉积物外比表面校正法对黄河口及其附近沉积物中As进行粒度校正,并与上文讨论的≤16μm粒径外推校正法及中值粒径校正法进行了比较,结果外比表面法被认为是较为合理的。同时还提出利用单位外表面积沉积物活性As含量作为沉积物中As的评价标准,并可以推广到沉积物中其他污染物质的研究中去。  相似文献

Issues related to the numerical simulation of moisture migration patterns in the unsaturated zone and in the vicinity of mature trees are explored in this paper. The research is based on the use of Richard's equation for unsaturated moisture flow incorporating a sink term. A numerical solution has been achieved via the finite-element method for spatial discretization along with a finite-difference time-marching scheme. An axisymmetric solution is developed to represent water uptake near an established tree. The approach adopted utilizes radial symmetry and assumes a linear distribution of water extraction rates with both depth and radius. The model has been validated by direct comparison with field measurements recorded (by others) for a mature lime tree located on a boulder clay subsoil. Non-linear hydraulic properties have been obtained from independent published data. A good correlation between field data and simulated results has been achieved. The simulation covers a full annual cycle starting from field capacity in winter, extending through a full spring–summer drying period and subsequent autumn recharge. It is believed that this is the first attempt to simulate the behaviour of an established tree over such a time-scale. This relatively straightforward approach is thought to be suitable for development and application to a range of geo-engineering problems (e.g. slope stability, shrinkage/heave prediction, etc).  相似文献
