The La Voluntad porphyry Cu–Mo deposit in Neuquén, Argentina, is one of several poorly known porphyry-type deposits of Paleozoic
to Early Jurassic age in the central and southern Andes. Mineralization at La Voluntad is related to a tonalite porphyry from
the Chachil Plutonic Complex that intruded metasedimentary units of the Piedra Santa Complex. Five new Re–Os molybdenite ages
from four samples representing three different vein types (i.e., quartz–molybdenite, quartz–sericite–molybdenite and quartz–sericite–molybdenite
± chalcopyrite–pyrite) are identical within error and were formed between ~312 to ~316 Ma. Rhenium and Os concentrations range
between 34 to 183 ppm and 112 to 599 ppb, respectively. The new Re–Os ages indicate that the main mineralization event at
La Voluntad, associated to sericitic alteration, was emplaced during a time span of 1.7 ± 3.2 Ma and that the deposit is Carboniferous
in age, not Permian as previously thought. La Voluntad is the oldest porphyry copper deposit so far recognized in the Andes
and indicates the presence of an active magmatic arc, with associated porphyry style mineralization, at the proto-Pacific
margin of Gondwana during the Early Pennsylvanian. 相似文献

High latitude ion outflows mostly consist of upward streaming O+ and He+ emanating from the ionosphere. At heights above 1000 km, these flows consist of cold and hot components which resonantly scatter solar extreme ultraviolet (EUV) light, however, the ion populations respond differently to Doppler shifting resulting from the large relative velocities between the ions and the Sun. The possibility of optical detection of the Doppler effect on the scattering rate will be discussed for the O+ (83.4 nm) ions. We have contrasted the EUV solar resonance images of these outflows by simulations of the 30.4 nm He+ and 83.4 nm O+ emissions for both quiet and disturbed geomagnetic conditions. Input data for the 1000 km level has been obtained from the EICS instrument aboard the Dynamics Explorer satellite. Our results show emission rates of 50 and 56 milli-Rayleighs at 30.4 nm for quiet and disturbed conditions and 65 and 75 milli-Rayleighs at 83.4 nm for quiet and disturbed conditions, respectively, obtained for a polar orbiting satellite and viewing radially outward. We also find that an imager at an equatorial distance of 9 RE or more is in a favorable position for detecting ion outflows, particularly when the plasmapause is depressed in latitude. Summary In this paper we analyze, from the point of view of stochastic processes, daily rainfall data recorded at the Badajoz Observatory (Southwestern Spain) since the beginning of the century. We attempt to identify any periodicities or trends in the daily rainfall occurrences and their dependence structure, and attempt to select the appropriate point stochastic model for the daily rainfall series.Standard regression analysis, graphical methods and the Cramer statistic show a rise in the number of cases of light rain (between 0.1 and 5 mm/d) and a decline in the number of cases of moderate to heavy rain (> 5 mm/d) in the daily rainfall at least at the 5% significance level.That the homogenization process was satisfactory is shown by the mean interarrival time of the homogenized series and the test of the rate of homogenized daily rainfall occurrences. Our analysis also shows that the behavior of the spectra of the homogenized daily rainfall counts is completely different from that of a Poisson process, so that the hypothesis of a non-homogeneous Poisson process is rejected.With 7 Figures 相似文献

Fourth-order mixed moments of velocity and temperature fluctuations, measured within the atmospheric surface layer, are compared with results obtained by assuming the quasi-Gaussian approximation. Standard deviations of the products uw, u and w(u and w are the longitudinal and vertical velocity fluctuations; is the temperature fluctuation) are in good agreement with those obtained using the quasi-Gaussian assumption. Good agreement is also obtained between measured and Gaussian estimates of fourth-order moments including all three fluctuations u, w, Schwarz inequalities, commonly used in the clipping approximation in turbulence modelling, are found to provide bounds for third-order moments of w, that are too conservative. High levels of arsenic in groundwater and drinking water are a major health problem. Although the processes controlling the
release of As are still not well known, the reductive dissolution of As-rich Fe oxyhydroxides has so far been a favorite hypothesis.
Decoupling between arsenic and iron redox transformations has been experimentally demonstrated, but not quantitatively interpreted.
Here, we report on incubation batch experiments run with As(V) sorbed on, or co-precipitated with, 2-line ferrihydrite. The
biotic and abiotic processes of As release were investigated by using wet chemistry, X-ray diffraction, X-ray absorption and
genomic techniques. The incubation experiments were carried out with a phosphate-rich growth medium and a community of Fe(III)-reducing
bacteria under strict anoxic conditions for two months. During the first month, the release of Fe(II) in the aqueous phase
amounted to only 3% to 10% of the total initial solid Fe concentration, whilst the total aqueous As remained almost constant
after an initial exchange with phosphate ions. During the second month, the aqueous Fe(II) concentration remained constant,
or even decreased, whereas the total quantity of As released to the solution accounted for 14% to 45% of the total initial
solid As concentration. At the end of the incubation, the aqueous-phase arsenic was present predominately as As(III) whilst
X-ray absorption spectroscopy indicated that more than 70% of the solid-phase arsenic was present as As(V). X-ray diffraction
revealed vivianite Fe(II)3(PO4)2.8H2O in some of the experiments. A biogeochemical model was then developed to simulate these aqueous- and solid-phase results.
The two main conclusions drawn from the model are that (1) As(V) is not reduced during the first incubation month with high
Eh values, but rather re-adsorbed onto the ferrihydrite surface, and this state remains until arsenic reduction is energetically
more favorable than iron reduction, and (2) the release of As during the second month is due to its reduction to the more
weakly adsorbed As(III) which cannot compete against carbonate ions for sorption onto ferrihydrite. The model was also successfully
applied to recent experimental results on the release of arsenic from Bengal delta sediments. 相似文献

A numerical investigation was made of the relationships between fracture initiation, growth, stress field and boundary conditions. Two-dimensional plane strain continuum models were used in which fractures appeared as zones of strain localization developed through application of a strain softening Mohr–Coulomb constitutive model. R and R′ fractures developed first, followed by Y fractures at larger strains. The models showed that equal development of conjugate R and R′ fractures is easily changed to favor one or the other set by minor variations in model initial conditions. Strength loss in fractures caused stress field rotations in regions bounded by fractures, altering the orientation of subsequent fractures. The amount and sense of stress field rotation is dependent on the strength loss during displacement on the fractures, the orientation of fractures, and on the boundary conditions. Y oriented fractures could be explained on the basis of a Mohr–Coulomb failure criterion provided that stress field rotation is accounted for. Monitoring of fracture slip activity showed that, under conditions of constant boundary velocity, slip was discontinuous in time, alternating on fractures throughout the model. 相似文献

On the basis of Jeans equations we study some dynamical properties of a sample of E galaxies considered as oblate and prolate spheroids. Although the results emphasize the anisotropy as the dominant dynamical factor both for oblate and prolate configurations, the sample contains some oblate galaxies apparently isotropic consistent with full rotational support. Comparisons of the mass-to-luminosity ratios obtained from our models with ratios derived from recent evolutionary synthesis models do not seem to leave room for nonluminous matter within the ranges (of the order of one de Vaucouleurs' radius) of the kinematical observations. Such comparisons suggest that a flatter than the classical Salpeter IMF would lead to better agreement with the dynamical results obtained within the framework of our models. 相似文献

Spectral densities of temporal velocity and temperature derivatives, measured in the atmospheric turbulent boundary layer and on the axis of a turbulent plane jet, are compared with the spectral densities of the ratios of these derivatives and of the local longitudinal instantaneous velocity. The comparison between the spectral densities, when both are normalized such that the areas under the spectra are equal, shows that the corrected spectrum is lower than the measured spectrum at frequencies larger than about one-seventh of the Kolmogorov frequency while the opposite trend is observed at low frequencies. A qualitatively similar result has been obtained when the measured velocity derivative spectrum is compared with that corrected using Lumley's method. While the unnormalized spectral densities and moments of the derivatives, as corrected by Lumley's method are smaller than the corresponding measured quantities, the opposite trend is found when the correction is made by dividing the temporal derivative by the longitudinal instantaneous velocity. 相似文献
