We describe in detail the deformation structures and textures of a large-scale landslide body that developed in the Betto-dani Valley in northern central Japan. We studied the shape-preferred orientation of clasts and clay flakes and the development of internal shear planes within the slip zone of the landslide. The slip has an average rate of 5–10 cm/year under the overburden pressure of approximately 1.6 MPa; these values are similar to those of the proto-decollement zone of the Nankai accretionary prism in SW Japan. The anisotropy of magnetic susceptibility of samples obtained from the slip zone reveals that the long axes of clay flakes define an imbricate structure. The slip was due to a long-term periodical creep, which occurs during the thaw seasons with an average slip rate of 0.16–0.32 μm/min. During the creep, the long axes of grains including clay flakes in the slip zone are developed from parallel to perpendicular to the slip direction. The observed textures provide a clue to elucidate the deformation textures and process in the decollement zone of the Nankai prism.  相似文献

In both 2009 and 2010, massive Chattonella blooms occurred in Tachibana Bay. Observation results show that high cell densities of Chattonella were distributed in the central area of Tachibana Bay with low salinity water. Model results indicate that the low salinity water originated from the Ariake Sea and intruded into Tachibana Bay during the northerly or weak winds. It is suggested that low salinity water was mainly discharged from the northern area of the Ariake Sea. Northerly wind enhanced the horizontal advection of the low salinity water intruding into Tachibana Bay originating from the northern area of the Ariake Sea.  相似文献

A geological and geophysical survey off Tottori, southern-west of Honshu, Japan, was carried out by the Hydrographic Department of Japan during May and June (26 days) of 1974.In the survey area, there is marginal plateau which lies under the slope of the continental shelf adjacent to the Sanin district. By the closely-spaced surveying the marginal plateau was divided into two different zones based on differences of genesis and structure, which are identified in this paper as marginal plateaus A (west side) and marginal plateau B (east side). The tectonic boundary between marginal plateaus A and B, previously believed to exist near Tottori City, was not confirmed. An erosional plane, beneath the horizontally bedded upper layer was found to be 75 m lower than the submerged surface of marginal plateau A. Marginal plateau B is hypothesized to have been generated by the sliding of the upper layer. This is suggested by the presence of prominent slumping directed toward the bottom of the Oki Trough. This result implies that the submergence of the Oki Trough area and formation of the marginal plateau are closely related.  相似文献

To elucidate splash erosion processes under natural rainfall conditions, temporal variations in splash detachment were observed using a piezoelectric saltation sensor (H11B; Sensit Co., Portland, ND, USA). Preliminary laboratory tests of Sensit suggested that they were suitable for field observations. Field observations were conducted between July and September 2006 in 21‐ and 36‐year‐old Japanese cypress (Chamaecyparis obtusa) plantations with mean stand heights of 9·2 m and 17·4 m, respectively. Splash detachment (in g m?2) was measured seven times using splash cups, and raindrop kinetic energy (in J m?2 mm?1) in both stands was measured using laser drop‐sizing (LD) gauges. Sensit was installed to record saltation counts, which were converted to temporal data of splash detachment (splash rate; in g m?2 10 min?1) using the relationship between splash detachment and saltation counts. Surface runoff was monitored using runoff plots of 0·5 m width and 2·0 m length to obtain temporal data of flow depth (in millimeters). Both total splash detachment and raindrop kinetic energy were larger in the older stand. Increased splash rates per unit throughfall were found in both stands after rainless durations longer than approximately one day in both stands. However, a lower splash rate was found in the 21‐year stand after rainfall events. During extreme rainstorms, the 21‐year stand showed a low runoff rate and a decline in the splash rate, while the 36‐year stand showed a higher splash rate and increased flow depth. We propose that when all sources on the solar disc are taken into account, the S component at 10.7 cm wavelength is dominated by thermal free-free (bremsstrahlung) emission. It is not produced only in the vicinity of sunspots; more than 60% of the total flux may be due to a widely-distributed emission associated with the hot complexes of activity. Using a model for the solar atmosphere based upon an assumption of weak (or vertical) magnetic fields, the spectrum of the S-component is calculated and its sensitivity to changes in the model parameters investigated. Variation of the thicknesses of the chromosphere, transition region and mixed zone cause only small changes in the S-component spectrum; there is a much stronger dependence upon the plasma density, particularly at the base of the corona. The behaviour of the S-component at 10.7 cm wavelength is examined in more detail. We find that the largest contribution to the 10.7 cm flux originates in the low corona, that structural changes affect it only slightly, but that it is strongly density-related. This dependence upon few quantities, together with its relative localization in the low corona, contributes to the usefulness of the 10.7 cm flux as an index of solar activity.Summer Student Worker, 1988.  相似文献

Reflection and transmission of elastic wave motion by a layer of compact inhomogeneities has been analyzed. For identical inhomogeneities whose geometrical centers are periodically spaced, the problem has been formulated and solved rigorously. The reflected and transmitted longitudinal and transverse wave motions have been expressed as superpositions of wavemodes, where each wavemode has its own cut-off frequency. At its cut-off frequency a mode converts from a standing into a propagating wavemode. The standing wavemodes decay exponentially with distance to the plane of the centers of the inhomogeneities. At small frequencies only the lowest order modes of longitudinal and transverse wave motion are propagating. Reflection and transmission coefficients have been defined in terms of the coefficients of the zeroth-order scattered wavemodes. These coefficients have been computed by a novel application of the Betti-Rayleigh reciprocal theorem. They are expressed as integrals over the surface of a single inhomogeneity, in terms of the displacements and tractions on the surface of the inhomogeneity. The system of singular integral equations for the surface fields has been solved numerically by the boundary integral equation method. Curves show the reflection and transmission coefficients for the reflected and transmitted longitudinal and transverse waves as functions of the frequency. Some results are also presented for planar distributions of cracks whose spacing and size are random variables. Finally, dispersion relations are discussed for solids which are completely filled with periodically spaced inhomogeneities.  相似文献

Scattering of elastic waves by inhomogeneous and anisotropic bodies in a half space is considered. The integral equation method is formulated by using the fundamental solution of a homogeneous isotropic body in elastostatics and regarding the resulting inhomogeneous terms as equivalent body forces. Numerical examples are presented for the wave scattering by inhomogeneous and/or anisotropic alluvial valleys and for the dynamic analysis of an inhomogeneous dam. The effect of inhomogeneities and anisotropy on the dynamic behaviour of alluvial valley and dam is discussed.  相似文献

The authors investigated factors affecting the travel distance of a surface failure and developed a simple model for estimating the distance based on soil properties and topographic factor. The authors conducted field surveys and various soil tests for a number of surface failures that occurred during torrential rain at the end of August 1998 in southern Fukushima Prefecture, Japan. The authors studied the effects of various factors such as landslide volume, pore-water pressure, slope inclination, and the internal friction near the slip surfaces on the travel distances. The analyses showed no clear relationship between landslide volume and equivalent coefficient of friction, which was likely attributable to the very small range of volume compared to other studies on catastrophic landslides. The effect of excess pore-water pressure was likely negligible because undrained conditions were not to be maintained at the shallow flow depths. A positive correlation was shown between slope inclination and equivalent coefficient of friction. This correlation was attributable to two factors, one was positive correlation between the internal friction on the slip surface and slope inclination, and the other was the kinetic energy dissipation of moving mass that occurred at the inclination changing point between a slope and a sedimentary flat surface. The authors then developed a predictive model for critical flow inclination of landslide by installing the factors of soil properties and slope inclination factors. The model predicted equivalent coefficient of frictions, which were very similar to the observed values, thus verifying the effectiveness of the model.  相似文献

We studied the evolutional characteristics of fine structures in H flare emitting regions and their relation to X-ray and microwave emissions for selected events observed with the 60 cm Domeless Solar Telescope at Hida Observatory, University of Kyoto. The principal conclusions of this investigation are: (1) H kernel consists of some finer bright points or Hflare points whose individual size is less than 1 arc sec. (2) Impulsive brightnenings of H flare points occurred simultaneously with the spikes of the hard X-ray and microwave bursts within the time resolution of our H observations which varied from 1 to 10 s.
