By means of mathematical modeling, the parameters of flows forming sedimentary waves on the western slope of the Derbent basin
were estimated. The height of these flows depends on the slope steepness and varies from 25 to 170 m to reach its maximum
values at gentler slope areas. However, the flow rate is independent of the slope steepness and depends only on the concentration
of sediment matter supplied by the flow. At the upper part of the slope (the flow starting), the rate amounts to 0.4–1.4 m/s,
being almost halved at the depths where the sedimentary waves are damped. The present rates of near-bottom currents show pronounced
seasonal differences, and their values are close to flow rates obtained by numerical modeling. 相似文献

The paper presents the analysis of hydrophysical observations executed along the Transcaspian section in 2004-2014 during the expeditions by Shirshov Institute of Oceanology of Russian Academy of Sciences. The results used in the paper are the generalization of data obtained in the last decade. Investigations of the current system of the Central Caspian Sea demonstrated that at the northeastern part of the cyclonic circulation there are considerable deviations. The deposits that energy of current disturbances of various spatiotemporal scales makes to the general energy of currents, are calculated. Preliminary results are received of the assessment of water transfer through the Apsheron threshold from the Central to the Southern Caspian Sea and vice versa. It is shown that annual recurrence of concentration of hydrogen sulfide in the benthonic hollows of the Caspian Sea is directly connected with seasonal and synoptic variability of currents at the bottom. 相似文献

This paper discusses the structure of fish and phytoplankton aggregations, using the transect characteristics method and the
data collected during cruise 11 of the R/VArtemida in the South-West Atlantic Ocean. A method of phytoplankton field classification by the type of aggregation is suggested.
On the basis of experimentally compiled data, a new way of determining the minimum living distances between hydrobionts has
been developed.
