Hierarchical cluster analysis (HCA) and inverse modeling (PH REdox EQuilibrium (in C language) (PHREEQC)) were simultaneously useful approaches in interpreting surface water hydrochemistry within Talkhab River in the Tang-Bijar oilfield, Iran, where large uncertainties exist in the understanding of the water quality system. Q-mode HCA applied to the data revealed three major surface water associations distinguished on the basis of the major causes of variation in the hydrochemistry. The three water groups were classified as upstream waters (group 1: Ca–SO4), intermediate waters (group 2: Ca–SO4–Cl), and downstream waters (group 3: Na–Cl). Geochemical reaction models were constructed using PHREEQC to establish the reactions associated with the different mineral phases through inverse modeling. The hydrochemical compositions of the water groups and the mass balance calculations indicate that the dominant processes and reactions responsible for the hydrochemical evolution in the system are (1) dissolution of evaporites, (2) precipitation of carbonate minerals, (3) silicate weathering reactions, (4) limited mixing with saline water, and (5) ion exchange.  相似文献

The dynamic behaviour of pile groups subjected to an earthquake base shaking is analysed. An analysis is formulated in the time domain and the effects of material nonlinearity of soil, pile–soil–pile kinematic interaction and the superstructure–foundation inertial interaction on seismic response are investigated. Prediction of response of pile group–soil system during a large earthquake requires consideration of various aspects such as the nonlinear and elasto‐plastic behaviour of soil, pore water pressure generation in soil, radiation of energy away from the pile, etc. A fully explicit dynamic finite element scheme is developed for saturated porous media, based on the extension of the original formulation by Biot having solid displacement (u) and relative fluid displacement (w) as primary variables (uw formulation). All linear relative fluid acceleration terms are included in this formulation. A new three‐dimensional transmitting boundary that was developed in cartesian co‐ordinate system for dynamic response analysis of fluid‐saturated porous media is implemented to avoid wave reflections towards the structure. In contrast to traditional methods, this boundary is able to absorb surface waves as well as body waves. The pile–soil interaction problem is analysed and it is shown that the results from the fully coupled procedure, using the advanced transmitting boundary, compare reasonably well with centrifuge data. In order to understand the post-depositional history of carbonate rocks of Guri Member (Lower to Middle Miocene), three stratigraphic sections were selected in north Bandar-Abbas in southeast of Iran. Sampling was carried out, analyzed for selective parameters such as oxygen and carbon isotopic compositions (δ18O and δ13C) and interpreted in the present study. We recognized several diagenetic processes including micritization, cementation, neomorphism, compaction, dissolution, silicification, dolomitization, fracturing and vein filling. Some of the diagenetic processes occurred at different conditions, so in order to achieve precise interpretation, samples from different carbonate components such as, micrite, fracture cement, solution pore cement, intergranular cement, and some biotic allochems were analyzed. In this study micrite samples were subdivided into two groups including micro-spary and micrite. They were recognized under Cathodoluminescence microscope. In addition, micrite samples were classified into five groups based on their depositional environments: supratidal, lagoon, coral bar, open sea, and open basin. There were minor changes in stable isotope ratios based on the sedimentary environments, stratigraphy successions, and micro-spary or micrite properties. In this study, similar calcite cements in petrography studies were differentiated by stable isotope data. Those calcite cements have formed in different diagenetic environments such as meteoric and burial cements. Paragenetic sequence of carbonate rocks were interpreted by integration of petrographic and isotopic studies. We have reconstructed diagenetic models of Guri Member into four stages including marine, meteoric, burial, and uplifting.  相似文献

This study presents a new algorithm for design of cantilever retaining walls based on the proposed failure mechanisms and considers the effects of wall geometric parameters using an upper-bound limit analysis approach. All previous work on this subject has only focused on the optimum design of the retaining walls assuming constant forces, irrespective of the total stability and critical conditions of failure mechanisms. In the present study, the upper-bound limit analysis method was used to determine the shape of the critical failure mechanisms for a retaining wall simultaneously with its optimal dimensions. The safety factors against overturning, sliding, and bearing capacity failure were assessed by the limit analysis approach. The current results show good agreement with the results obtained using the limit equilibrium methods and finite element analyses. The results obtained based on the proposed failure mechanism show that the geometry and dimensions of the wall affect its stability safety factors, the shape of the critical failure mechanisms and the active pressure on the wall; therefore, the process of determining the shape of the critical failure mechanisms, checking the stability of the wall and the procedure of finding its optimal dimensions should be performed simultaneously.  相似文献

The Sardar Formation (Carboniferous) has a lithological variation that is characterized by sandstone, shale and limestone members. Shales of the Sardar Formation from the east central Iran have been analyzed for major elements and a number of trace elements. The shales of Sardar Formation are rich in quartz minerals and clay minerals of the bulk minerals. Clay minerals of shales are composed of illite, kaolinite and slightly montmorillonite. SiO2 versus K2O/Na2O diagram shows these shales plotted in the passive continental margin or cratonic field. Geochemical data suggest high acidic source rocks similar to granite and intermediate igneous rocks. CIA and ICV suggest semi-humid climatic conditions during depositions and indicate high chemical weathering in the source area. The geochemical parameters such as V/Cr, Ni/Co and Cu/Zn ratios indicate that these shales were deposited in oxic environment.  相似文献

The Tirgan Formation (Barremian — Aptian) is exposed in the Kopet Dagh in northeast Iran. Two stratigraphic sections in Radkan and Chenaran were measured. Their thickness are 238 m and 119 m, respectively. This formation in measured sections consists of three parts (including lower carbonate, middle limy shale — marl and upper carbonate rocks). Based on study of 164 thin-sections, 15 carbonate and 2 siliciclastic lithofacies have been identified. Carbonate lithofacies are deposited in a ramp platform in fore shoal, shoal, lagoon and tidal flat environments. Sea level changes during lower Cretaceous led to the formation of different large-scale depositional sequences Radkan (two) and Chenaran (two) respectively. The present study highlights the reconstruction of tectonic history of the area during lower Cretaceous.  相似文献

The main objective of this paper is to estimate the water seepage from Lar dam reservoir based on a combination of the geological structure study results and identification of the flow conduits in the right bank of the reservoir. From the beginning of impounding the dam in 1980, heavy seepage was observed at two karstic springs, Haraz and Galugah, located about 9 km downstream of the dam. During the first impounding, the discharge of the Haraz spring abruptly increased from 0.5 m3/s to around 5 m3/s. The results of piezometers and dye tests indicate that seepage occurs mainly through the right abutment of the dam where there is a structural wedge between the north dipping North Tiz Kuh and the south dipping Lar Valley faults. F1, F2, and F3 faults are the most important faults in vicinity of the structural wedge. Based on the dye test results, the North Tiz Kuh and F3 faults along which caves No. 1 and 2 are formed are regarded as two isolated conduits for seepage and conveyance into Lar Valley Fault at downstream of Lar dam. After identifying the conduits, water seepage from the Lar dam reservoir has been calculated using finite element method. According to the results of numerical method, when the reservoir water level is at 2485 m a.s.l, the average of water seepage is around 8.51 m3/s (this amount of water is related to the seepage along the Lar Valley Fault). The average discharge of springs downstream of the dam has been used to verify the numerical method. The results show a very close relation between estimated and observed discharge.  相似文献

Dye tracing field data were collected in small, steep streams in Ontario and used to calculate longitudinal dispersion coefficients for these headwater streams. A predictive equation for longitudinal dispersion coefficient is developed using combined data sets from five steeper head – water streams and 24 milder and larger rivers. The predictive equation relates the longitudinal dispersion coefficient to hydraulic and geometric parameters of the stream and has been developed using multiple regression analysis. The newly developed equation shows impressive accuracy of predictions for longitudinal dispersion coefficient (R2 = 0.86, RMSE = 25, Nash–Sutcliffe coefficient Ens = 0.86 and Index of Agreement D = 0.96) for both small, steep headwater streams as well as large, mild rivers. The Froude number has been introduced as a third key parameter to capture the effect of slope of the reach – in addition to the aspect ratio and bed material surface roughness – on the longitudinal dispersion coefficient. The pronounced improvement in the accuracy of the prediction is due to the addition of the Froude number to capture the effect of the slope of the reach on longitudinal dispersion coefficient. The upper Jurassic carbonate settings in Iran are widely exposed in north and northeastern parts. Five stratigraphic columns were selected in the north eastern Iran. Their thickness ranges from 330 to 500 m. The various diagenetic processes identified include, micritization, cementation, compaction (physical and chemical), dissolution, neomorphism, pyritization, hematitization, silicification and dolomitization, which affected these carbonates. Elemental and stable isotopes analysis indicated that these deposits have undergone both meteoric and burial diagenesis in a relatively open system with moderate water-rock interaction. The positive trend between trace elements and oxygen isotope depletion also support these burial conditions. Lighter δl8O values of the dolomite samples may be related to an increase in temperature during the burial, which correspond to coarser euhedral crystals. Relatively higher δ18O values in finer dolomite crystals indicate their formation at lower burial depths relative to coarser crystals. Petrographic evidences such as coarse euhedral crystals with bright and dull zonation prove this interpretation. Chert nodules also have lighter 18O values relative to carbonate host rock, thus indicating the influence of burial diagenetic processes in their formation. The average environmental palaeotemperature was estimated to be 26°C on the basis of oxygen isotope values of less altered lime-mudstones.  相似文献

The Dariyan Formation (southwestern Iran) records the characteristic features of an oceanic anoxic event with organic- and radiolarian-rich hemipelagic intervals. A biostratigraphic study based on benthic and planktonic foraminifers provides an early Aptian age for the organic-rich succession and an Aptian age for the entire Dariyan Formation in this area. In this study, we report the first stable carbon isotope curve for the Dariyan Formation which is characterized by a pronounced negative spike (reaching ?2?‰) at the base of the section followed by a subsequent positive excursion (4?‰) and a plateau with values fluctuating around 3?‰. The integration of the δ13C record with the previously published litho- and biostratigraphy provides the characteristic features of the oceanic anoxic events (OAE) 1a interval. This detailed curve improved the stratigraphic resolution in this area and allowed the establishment of a temporal framework which showed good correlations with other OAE 1a sections worldwide. High production of organic matter and abundance of radiolarians and planktonic foraminifers suggest high-nutrient fluxes and meso- to eutrophic conditions at the time of deposition of the organic-rich interval of the Dariyan Formation. This is in agreement with enhanced greenhouse conditions. The facies distribution (from shallow to deep water environments) and the paleogeography of Arabian Plate during the early Aptian suggest that increasing continental runoff was a primary trigger of high trophic level conditions. Redox conditions, estimated from manganese (Mn) behavior, indicate dysoxic to anoxic conditions within the basin during OAE 1a.  相似文献
