We propose a zero-point photometric calibration of the data from the Advanced Camera for Surveys (ACS) Wide Field Channel (WFC) on board the Hubble Space Telescope , based on a spectrum of Vega and the most up-to-date in-flight transmission curves of the camera. This calibration is accurate at the level of a few hundredths of a magnitude. The main purpose of this effort is to transform the entire set of evolutionary models into a simple observational photometric system for ACS/WFC data, and to make them available to the astronomical community. We provide the zero-points for the most used ACS/WFC bands, and give basic recipes for calibrating both the observed data and the models. We also present the colour–magnitude diagram from ACS data of five Galactic globular clusters, spanning the metallicity range  −2.2 <[Fe/H] < −0.04  , and we provide fiducial points representing their sequences from several magnitudes below the turn-off to the red giant branch tip. The observed sequences are compared with the models in the newly defined photometric system.  相似文献

Chemical analyses and crystallographic and some optical data have been obtained for 28 samples of beryl from Bahia State, Brazil. The larger range of variability in the chemical composition is shown by Mg, Fe and Li. Sodium is the more diffuse alkali element. Potassium is always very limited. Calcium appears in noticeable amounts only in three samples. The Ti, Cr, Rb, and Cs elements were also tested. The samples studied here can be defined as sodium-potassium beryls with low alkali content. Unit cell parameters show the following ranges: a=9.210–9.245 and c=9.190–9.220 Å. From a statistical analysis of these data it may be seen that: an increase of Fe and (Fe+Mn+Mg) percentage has a positive correlation with a, but no influence on c, which in turn has a close positive correlation with Li and is negatively correlated with Be. Less negative correlations also exist between the pairs {Be, Li}, {a,Al}, {Al, Fe} and {Al, (Fe+Mn+Mg)}. A positive correlation also exists between sodium and the parameter a.  相似文献

The mineralogical and chemical compositions of meteorites from the Motta di Conti, Vercelli, Italy, shower (February 29, 1868) have been determined. Microprobe analyses, of olivine (Fa19,6) and orthopyroxene (Fs17,8), as well as the bulk chemical composition, particularly the ratios of SiO2/MgO (1.50), Fe°/Ni° (11.03), Fetotal/SiO2 (0.81), Fe°/Fetotal (0.70) and the content of Fetotal (28.60%) classify the meteorite as an H-group chondrite. The percentage of total metallic nickel-iron (22.06%) is somewhat higher than the average in H-group chondrites. The texture of our stone shows evidence of metamorphism. The integration between matrix and chondrules is advanced and may suggest a high petrographic grade, but the identification of several microscopic features (e.g. small grains of monoclinic twinned pyroxene, FeNi-FeS intergrowths, globules and mosaic) leads to the conclusion that a variety of petrographic types (4–6) are present. Metamorphic equilibration in chondrites is discussed and a preliminary hypothesis for H4–6 chondrites is suggested.  相似文献

Thermoluminescence (TL) dating has been used to determine the age of the meteorite impact crater at Gebel Kamil (Egyptian Sahara). Previous studies suggested that the 45 m diameter structure was produced by a fall in recent times (less than 5000 years ago) of an iron meteorite impactor into quartz‐arenites and siltstones belonging to the Lower Cretaceous Gilf Kebir Formation. The impact caused the complete fragmentation of the impactor, and the formation of a variety of impactites (e.g., partially vitrified dark and light materials) present as ejecta within the crater and in the surrounding area. After a series of tests to evaluate the TL properties of different materials including shocked intra‐crater target rocks and different types of ejecta, we selected a suite of light‐colored ejecta that showed evidence of strong thermal shock effects (e.g., partial vitrification and the presence of high‐temperature and ‐pressure silica phases). The abundance of quartz in the target rocks, including the vitrified impactites, allowed TL dating to be undertaken. The variability of radioactivity of the intracrateric target rocks and the lack of direct in situ dosimetric evaluations prevented precise dating; it was, however, possible to constrain the impact in the 2000 BC–500 AD range. If, as we believe, the radioactivity measured in the fallback deposits is a reliable estimate of the mean radioactivity of the site, the narrower range 1600–400 BC (at the 2σ confidence level) can be realistically proposed.  相似文献

The chemical composition of the newly observed fallen chondrites Parambù, 1967, and Marilia, 1971, was determined. Wet chemical methods were used for major elements analyses and the abundances of heavy trace elements from tungsten to uranium were determined by spark source mass spectrometry. The chemical composition confirmed the classification of Marilia as an H-group chondrite by Avanzo et al. (1973): Parambù was classified as an LL-group chondrite.  相似文献

This model is based on the concept of transport concentration, defined as the time-averaged concentration in a given location of a lagoon, which determines the long-term net transport of sediments as the sum of a dispersive and an advective flux. Dispersive net flux of sediments is due to the alternate components of the tidal flow, while the advective net flux of sediments is due to the residual (Eulerian) component of the tidal, fluvial and littoral flow and possibly to the asymmetry between flow and ebb tide.  相似文献

The possibility of para-amphibolites originating from the metamorphic transformation of graywackes is investigated. A series of 35 samples of Vosges graywackes has been studied and the geochemical trends for major and trace elements have been determined to this end. The strong similarity of the geochemical characteristics of this group of graywackes to those of a series of para-amphibolites of the Western Alps conforms to the present hypothesis. By comparing sedimentary geochemical trends with igneous trends one is able to distinguish ortho- from para-derivatives.  相似文献
