The laser‐induced breakdown detection (LIBD) is a very sensitive method for the direct detection of colloids based on the plasma generation on single particles by a focused, pulsed laser beam and the detection of the produced shock wave or plasma light emission. For the determination of colloid sizes the light emission of single plasmas is detected by a microscope CCD‐camera system. With known mean particle diameter and breakdown probability the particle concentration can be calculated. The application of the LIBD to monitor the change of colloid concentration and size during the purification steps of drinking water at the Bodensee (Lake Constance, Germany) water purification plant is shown. The breakdown probability, correlating to colloid number density, decreases with every purification step. By addition of FeCl3 as a precipitating agent and with an additional filtration step, not only suspended matter, but also colloids are effectively removed. After this process a remaining particle concentration of 50 ng/L and a mean particle diameter of 27 nm are found. 相似文献

Zusammenfassung Die Hypothese einer Ladungsbildung bzw.- trennung beim Verdampfen von Wasser — in der Vergangenheit oft behandelt und dann vonP. Lenard nach eingehender Untersuchung endgültig abgelehnt —ist in neuerer Zeit im Zusammenhang mit der Erklärung des sogenannten Sonnenaufgangseffektes der luftelektrischen Elemente wieder aufgegriffen worden. Zur erneuten experimentellen Überprüfung dieser Frage wurde eine Reihe von Versuchen angestellt, über die im einzelnen berichtet wird. Zusammenfassend ergibt sich daraus, daß eine mit dem Verdampfungsvorgang verbundene Ladungsbildung — sofern sie überhaupt auftritt — um etwa fünf Zehnerpotenzen geringer sein muß, als sie neuerdings wieder postuliert wird.

Summary The hypothesis of the formation or separation of electrical charges during the evaporation process of water was frequently considered in the past and finally, after a thorough investigation, rejected byP. Lenard. In connection with the so-called sunrise effect of atmospheric electricity this historical hypothesis has regained interest. New experiments described in the present paper lead to the conclusion that the formation of charges during the evaporation process must be (if at all present) 5 orders of magnitude smaller than recently postulated again.
Résumé L'hypothèse de la formation, respectivement de la séparation de charges électriques dans les processus d'évaporation-hypothèse traitée bien souvent dans le passé et réfutée définitivement parP. Lenard après bien des recherches — a été reprise récemment en relation avec l'explication de l'effet dit «du lever de soleil» sur les éléments de l'électricité atmosphériques. Afin d'élucider expérimentalement cette question de nouveau, on a procédé à une série d'essais dont il est fait mention en détails. En résumé, il en résulte que la formation de charges liées aux processus d'évaporation— pour autant qu'elle existe réellement-doit être de cinq puissances de dix inférieure à ce que l'on prétend de nouveau.

Despite their diverse and contested characters, queer and feminist geographies have much in common historically, theoretically, empirically, and politically. Following a brief discussion of their connections and divergences, I discuss the distinctive contributions of queer geographies and their potential, in continuing conversation and alliance with feminist geographies, to enliven and enrich geographical inquiry more broadly. I focus particularly on the potential of feminist‐inspired and allied queer geographies to rethink a variety of spatial (and other) ontologies, including space, place, placelessness, movement, gender, homophobias and heterosexisms, generational cultures, and cultural politics. 相似文献
