Detailed gravity data integrated with geological data and mining well data are analysed to constrain the shape of the Triassic evaporitic body at Jebel El Mourra (northern Tunisian Atlas) and the mechanism of its emplacement at the surface. The gravity data analysis included the construction of a gravity anomaly maps, and synthetic and forward 2.5D gravity models. The complete Bouguer and residual gravity anomaly maps indicate a positive amplitude gravity anomaly over the Triassic evaporitic outcrops and prominent NE–SW‐trending features associated with the boundary of the Triassic rocks and surrounded layers. A NW–SE‐trending gravity model that crosses the Triassic evaporitic outcrop at Jebel El Mourra shows that the positive gravity anomaly can be explained by a deep‐rooted salt diapir. Conventional models of salt dome formation suggest that they produce negative gravity anomalies; however, this study shows that this model is not universal. The studied area is an example of a diapir expressed by positive gravity anomaly and this result is supported by synthetic gravity models at different stages of salt piercing.  相似文献

The intensive agricultural and economic activities induce the increase of the risk of groundwater quality degradation through high groundwater pumping rates. The salinization and contamination are the main sources of this pollution, especially in coastal aquifers. The explanation of the origin of salinity for the shallow aquifer of Northern Sahel of Sfax was analysed by a chemical study of the groundwater main compounds. The partitioning of groundwaters into homogenous groups is undertaken by graphical techniques, including a Stiff pattern diagram, an expanded Durov diagram and several binary diagrams. The study indicates the presence of various salinization processes. In the recharge area, salinization is the result of dissolution/precipitation of the aquifer formation material (group I). The irrigation water return and the intensive pumping have been identified as major sources of salinization in the south by direct cation exchange and mixing reactions (groups II and III). The anomaly of high groundwater salinity observed near the Hazeg zone was explained by the presence of a seawater intrusion in this area. This hypothesis is related to the high chloride concentration, to the presence of inverse cation exchange reactions (group IV), and to the piezometric level inferior to sea level. Pseudopotential periodic Hartree-Fock calculations have been performed on the three polymorphs of Mg2SiO4 with a polarized split valence basis set. The energy differences between polymorphs at their experimental geometries are correctly predicted. The olivine to modified spinel and olivine to spinel phase transition pressures have been estimated and agree within a few GPa with their experimental values. The bonding in Mg2SiO4 is discussed from the point of view of the, band structures, projected density of states, electron density and electron localization function (ELF) curves. It is concluded that both Mg-O and Si-O bonds are highly ionic.  相似文献

The selection of the potential sites to the creation of an agro-industrial complex requires a large amount of spatial information. Geographical information systems are capable of managing this information, providing the ability to integrate multiple layers of information and deriving new ones. This study incorporates environmental, social, economic, geological and infrastructural data. A multi-criteria analysis is performed to select the potential sites to the creation of an agro-industrial complex in the city of Sfax (the southern coast of Tunisia). The comparison by pair method adopted in this paper, based on a linear combination pondered after having assigned to every factor of decision a coefficient of level-headedness, creates many scenarios among which we selected the sustainable development one. This scenario assigned the highest weight to the economical, environmental and social factors (0.3 for each factor), which shows the presence of nine suitable sectors for the creation of an agro-industrial complex. The ELECTRE method enabled us to make a site ordering for the identification of the most three appropriate sites.  相似文献

A vertical two-dimensional, laterally averaged hydrodynamic and water quality model CE-QUAL-W2 was used to simulate water temperature, dissolved oxygen, electrical conductivity, chlorophyll a, total suspended solids, alkalinity, ammonium, phosphate, and total iron in the Sejnane Dam (North Tunisia) in response to external forcings that characterize main features of climate in the southern side of the Mediterranean Sea. The hydrodynamic modelling results show that the model is able to reproduce accurately the measured water surface elevation, spatio-temporal patterns of temperature, dissolved oxygen and other state of variables and to capture most of the seasonal changes in the reservoir. Three scenarios involving the impacts of severe drought season, summer rainfall and total suspended solids load on hydrodynamics and water quality are analyzed. Severe drought reduces the thickness of hypoxic waters from 10 to 2–4 m and shifts the temperature of the entire water column up to 5 °C during summer and about 1.2 °C in winter. The thermocline takes place 1 month before that of the reference and sinks to the bottom faster by 1–2 m per month. Summer rainfall dilutes the first waves of the autumn rains and disrupts the thermal gradient in the water column, which may show complex thermal structures. TSS load has the most negative effects on water quality in that it shifts the phosphorus concentration by 1–3 mg/l and promotes an early warming of surface water in spring and an early cooling since late summer by up to 1 °C. During summer stratification, it contributes to the cooling of the metalimnion by 2 °C on average, which may alter its structure and dynamics as an aquatic biotope.  相似文献

Aerial photographs taken in the 1963 and 2001 and bathymetric charts, in conjunction with coastal processes are analyzed to assess changes in rate of shoreline position, seabed level, and seabed grain sizes along the Tabarka–Berkoukech beach at the north-western Tunisian coastline. The littoral cell of this beach, 12-km-long, is bounded by pronounced embayments and rocky headlands separated by sandy stretches. Although not yet very much undeveloped, this littoral is still experienced degradation and modification, especially along its shoreline, with significant coastal erosion at some places. Results obtained from analysis of shoreline position indicate that El Morjene Beach is experienced a landward retreat of more than −62 m, at a maximum rate of −1.64 m/year, whereas the El corniche beach is advanced about 16–144 m, at an average rate of 0.42 m–3.78 m/year. This beach accretion has been formed on the updrift side of the Tabarka port constructed between 1966 and 1970. Comparison of bottom contours deduced from bathymetric charts surveyed in 1881 and 1996 off the coastline between Tabarka Port and El Morjene Beach identifies erosional areas (sediment source) and accretionary zones (sediment sink). Erosion (0.87–4.35 cm/year) occurs between El kebir River Mouth and El Morjene beach, whereas accretion exists in the zone down wind of the port ranges between 0.87 and 5.21 cm/year. Morphological analyses of the shoreline and the seabed of the study nearshore area indicate that shoreline retreat corresponds to areas of seabed scour (sediment source) while shoreline accretion is associated with areas of seabed deposition (sediment sink). Furthermore, simulation of wave propagation using STWAVE model combined with grain size distributions of the seabed shows that fine sands are much dominated in depositional areas with low wave energy, whereas coarser sands in erosive zones with high wave energy. The results obtained suggest that the change of seabed morphology, wave height pattern and grain size sediment have a great influence on the modification of shoreline morphology and dynamics.  相似文献

Over the last 30 years El Grine coast recorded significant morphological changes leading to the shoreline progradation. Diachronic coastal evolution, through a set of satellite images data, supported by sedimentologic analysis of five sand cores have been applied to elucidate tidal flat reaction following the recent sea level rise. We found that an emerging sandy barrier and salt marsh domain were shaped by the local hydro-sedimentary processes. The marine sediments, mobilised by wave and tide currents, have been the sole sedimentary source. Recent sandy accumulations, occurred around 1987, have been able to balance a recent sea level rise. While during a mid-Holocene period, El Grine coast was governed by net erosion tendency inducing cliff recession.  相似文献

Due to their high cost, a small number of deep wells cannot give a satisfactory image of the architecture of deep geological formations and their continuity. However, it is very important at an early stage of research to recognize the relations that can exist between the different compartments of the underground formations. Generally speaking, we usually deduce that the hydrodynamic and geochemical parameters can be generated by geological discontinuity. In southwestern Tunisia, the seismic and diagraphic data make it possible to get a satisfactory insight into the underground layers so as to identify the hydrogeological basins and the extension of their parameters. Pleistocene marine deposits of so-called Tyrrhenian age in southeastern Tunisia include two lithostratigraphic units of Last Interglacial (marine isotopic substage 5e). The lower unit culminates at about +3 m above the sea level; the upper unit with Strombus bubonius culminates at +5 m. Brittle deformations affected the upper unit. The analysis of fault-slip data sets reveals a post-Tyrrhenian N020°E trending compression, consistent with joint patterns. This event induced limited vertical movements, showing that at the northeastern edge of the Saharan Platform, the coastal area of the southern Tunisia remained relatively stable since at least the Last Interglacial.  相似文献
